Bad luck for him that he was in his prime when Spain had literally the best midfield in the history of international football. In any other era he would've gotten a few caps at least.
@@JonahLoeb I think he was still good enough, but once they had that established midfield they weren't gonna mess with it. Especially not with someone who played at a less successful club and then at Arsenal (almost every Spain player was from La Liga and most from Real Madrid or Barcelona).

Just bangers and penalties!! Watching this for a second time and loving it. As an Arsenal fan I will never forgot that Everton squad, so solid and so classy, impossible not to like them. Pienar, Cahill, Arteta, Lescott, and others were pure class.
Cazorla was amazing. I remember how i showed his skills to friend being so excited about this guy. Unfortunately an injury ruined his Arsenal carrier as footballer ;-(
I totally underrated and undervalued this guy as a player, even when he later played for Arsenal. I feel ashamed now, he was immense. Scored bangers only!
I'm a Man Utd fan but I always liked and respect Everton. They were always tough to play against. Especially that Pienaar - Arteta - Cahill - Osman - Fellaini team.
So many great goals but for me its the 2nd against Fiorentina that always gives me goosebumps! i was in the Park End that night and i swear the wholse of the stand was shaking when it went in! what a player he was!!! him and Cahill were perfect together
As a player most definitely. At Everton between 2005/2009 especially, he was integral, the craftsman of Moyes workmanlike side. It was because of the likes of Arteta, Baines, Pienaar, Osman that we used the ball so well.
What I love about this dude is that he didn't score a mount of goals, but mostly every goals he ever scored were bangers and rockets. Also he's a very underrated freekick taker.
Artetas last goal scored away to Blackburn 27th August 2011, then signed for Arsenal 4 days later. Gutted when he left. Class player and now becoming class manager.
I am still a kid but I remember a few years ago and I went to watch a game against Chelsea at Goodson and Steven Naismith got a perfect hat-trick and he has always been my favourite Everton player I don’t know why but he just is.
A player who never got to play for Spain national team..such badass was that Spanish midfield that a genuine creative midfielder could not cut into the playing eleven
Arteta was our best reader of the game his midfield vision setting up moves out of nowhere leading to goals was second to none and that's why he ended up where he did we need another Arteta badly
Onabill Choudhury yeah I’m saying sooner than that. He even said when he went to arsenal that his best years were behind him. I’m an arsenal fan and wanted arteta for a good 2/3 years before we got him
Muhammad Hasif He has 0 appearance for Spain because he was in the golden era of talents, Xavi,Iniesta,Alonso,Senna,David Silva,Fabregas despite his class for Everton there were just players a level above but he was still a class player regardless, got offered to play for England tho.
Favourite goal vs Bolton from open play, picked the ball up from about thirty yards out and let fly from about twenty yards, great goal, never replaced him.
Arteta, I know you're watching this video. Probably with wine in hand. Probably with a tear in the eye. I just want to wish you a merry christmas & a wonderful 2021 for you and your family.

Arteta and Podolski. These two players that I really look up when I was a kid and when they sign for Arsenal, God knows how happy I am on that day. Never in my entire life would think that these two players would sign for Arsenal.
And now he's the head coach for Arsenal. RUclips recommended me this ...
Jeff same lmao

He really had Everton looking top 4 worthy at his best. Worked hard and had to extra quality to really make you enjoy.

Why did this guy exclusively score bangers 😂😂 It’s like you’re watching a best of instead of all his goals
Exactly!!!
woah actually your right, every goal the crowd celebrate like they just won a trophy
He plays deep. A bit Like Ruben Neves
Exactly how Rooney at Everton felt like. He exclusively scored bangers.
Because he never got in the box.
Definitely - with Santi Cazorla- one of the most underrated midfielders of the Premier League...a true Everton great
Cazorla was amazing. I remember how i showed his skills to friend being so excited about this guy. Unfortunately an injury ruined his Arsenal carrier as footballer ;-(
Always admired Arteta at Everton. Him & Fabregas in Arsenals midfield would have been madness
Too similar for me personally. Same with Xabi Alonso
I miss this time, when Arteta was in Everton, Gerrard in Liverpool, Lampard in Chelsea, Cesc in Arsenal, midfield players were the real key players.

Don't forget Landon Donovan

In Everton he was the backbone of the team.. in Arsenal he was kind of support of the team. But undoubtedly one of players we used to watch happily.
Some people got to see Alan Ball and Peter Reid playing for Everton, but in my lifetime this is the best player I’ve seen in an Everton Shirt.
Not lukaku?
Fellaini
I choose 1th Tim Cahill 2nd Mikel Arteta 3th Leighton Baines 4th Steven Pienaar
