  • 💧 This VW Golf had a number of leaks, in this video we show how rain water is getting inside the car via an air vent behind the back bumper which is leaking into the boot.
We can also see that the driver's side rear door membrane has probably become un-bonded which means water is leaking in through the door card.
Solution: Remove the rear air vent, clean it of dirt and then reseal it. Replace the door membrane.

The videos shown on this channel are taken from inspection reports, filmed for the customer who has paid for a diagnostic inspection, which comes with a video report. We share them here for informational purposes because the hardest part of fixing leaky cars is finding the leak.
After the initial inspection, if the customer agrees to have the work done, we film progress reports for the customer and will sometimes include them here.

Q: How much does it cost?
A: We don't know. That's why we do a diagnostic inspection. We cannot answer the question of how much it costs to fix before we know the extent of the problem. Prices for our inspection and hourly rates can be found on our website.
Q: Why don't you show us how to fix it?
A: This isn't a DIY channel, we are sharing videos we take for the customer as part of our inspection process. Furthermore, the vast majority of the fixes are simple, and if you need to ask how to fix them, you probably should let a professional deal with it. See below:

⚡ Electricity and water is a dangerous combination. This is especially the case with electric and hybrid cars, but most modern cars have electronic control units in areas which are prone to water ingress. These are easily damaged and can be expensive to replace.
💥 Areas that need to be accessed to fix water leaks may contain airbags. These are explosive and can be quite sensitive. Tampering with them could lead to serious injury.
☣️ Cars that have been damp for a prolonged period often contain mould, mildew and dangerous bacteria. Mould spores can seriously affect the health of people with asthma, the old, very young, and people with compromised immune systems. Mould should always be taken seriously.

Many cars have the same issue. I drive 308 peugeot, and there was the same problem. Problem solved with a simple duck tape..

I need some advice please, I seem to be getting a small puddle in the footwell on the drivers side, I've checked the drains under the wipers which seem to be fine and I don't see any water on the inside of the door, any advice would be appreciated please.

It could be the door membranes or even the rear air vents, or one of a dozen other things on a Golf. But i'd check water leaking through the doors first.

Thanks for the reply, I've checked the door and haven't noticed anything and the floor bit beneath it is dry, the the puddle bit is right in the middle of the footwell
