You missed one of the major ones when it comes to Golf 4 at least. On the other side(opposite of the pollen filter) there is a white cable box(under the wipers motor). It can tend to loosen it's seals(rubbers under it) and can cause a leak into the air vent for drivers feet. Best way is to replace it with new rubber, or use silicone sealant and close it off.
Thank you for your comment, Aleks! I will add this info in the article. 👍
@@Servicetutorials No problem mate, am in the process of fixing it myself.
@@Raduldo Thanks again and good luck! 👍
@@Servicetutorials had the same problem with Golf 4
Today ordered the silicone sealant. I’ve cleaned and checked all the damn draining lines except from that one. And still the water came in at the drivers feet. It must be that one.
This is by far the best video on whole youtube for this car ! Perfect descroption ! Thank you for this great help ! 😃

Hi mate, very clear video, thank you.
Mine leaks through the speaker hole,
can someone explain how to fix this leak best ??
Greats Alexander
Thanks,I will look at these areas👍👍 mine is right hand drive and it's the drivers side front foot well that's effected. Maybe either the pollen filter area or sunroof drain is where my problem lies. Thank you👍👍
Thank you for your feedback, Mick! 👍
Did you figure yours out? Mine is having the same issue.
Very good video, it helped me out a lot!!!!!!!
Thank you for the feedback!
Thank you very much. I'll have to check mine.
I had already cleaned out the drain tubes for the sunroof but I toatally forgot that I'm installing new speakers so the rubber tubes for the cables between the door and the body were still off🤦🏼♂️ I really hope this fixes it.
Thank you for your feedback! Good luck!
Thanks. Great video. My car passenger footwell gets wet when is stationary after a lot of rain. Which is most likely cause. I’m guessing the roof.
Same but only one passenger rear footwell and bit in the front passenger foot well. I noticed the sun roof drains fine on drivers side but won’t drain at all if water is on the passenger side. Also the cabin filter housing can leak into the car (again passenger side). Worth checking 👍
Could you do a video on vw bora carpet removal after leak
Thanks mate
I have water on the mat of the passenger seat (or under the passenger seat , right side, rear) I wonder if there is a grommet / plug under the mat and if the water come from here. can you help me on that? thank you
Ive got that exact problem, did you find the leak? And what’s the solution?
Hi does any one know who fixes this problem I'll pay obviously my passenger side footwel coming through the scuttle panel n ive already sealed bottom of the filter passenger side I give up ...the titanic would of been fine ... replies plz
have you found a solution Andrew? It's driving me literally crazy. I've sealed under the pollen filter housing numerous times. I don't think it can be getting in through there, and it doesn't seem wet down there when i take the pollen filter out. So where else could it be coming from. Footwell gets real wet real fast. It's more than disappointing
@antiochiaadtaurum3786 a bloke resealed mine with butal tape there's 2 filter in the front apparently under the scuttle panel
@andrewgray957 I resealed mine with butyl tape too, bought it specifically for that purpose. The pollen filter housing that is. But you say there's two? I thought the butyl tape would make the difference. Yet it still lets in buckets of water. Its unreal
@antiochiaadtaurum3786 honestly it's a nightmare I know I speaclist in corby depends we're your based in the uk
@andrewgray957 I'm in Ireland, it would be good to find a specialist as I can't for the life of me figure out where else the rain is getting in.
My golf mk4 is only gets wet from the middle of the driver door carpet. I also have a rubber carpet so it cannot be me with wet shoes. It is under the rubber carpet. It also only is from the middle. Not from any sides. What should i do. The carpet really stinks.
Under the car carper you have 4 holes or under the car ther are 4 holes ther is rubber in them from time rubber can be destroyed change that and enjoy your dry car
Thank you for the info! 👍
Had a stuck shifter. Opened it up and water inside🙄
Wow!
@@Servicetutorials its winter here so it frozen and I thought I had bushing failures.
In my case, number 5 was a problem.
