@@lestervai Do you just want to see him say it just because or do you disbelieve that Steva Vai would say that? I mean... Steve Vai was taught by Satch, after all...
Considering he did this for his dad he laid it all out ,opened up that heart & it just flowed out of him, as is the case each time he goes to this one song. Of of today's best players he never holds back. This is not so much depression but love soul & the memories he had with his father. Sad but a moving expression of just how good Joe is .
cant believe i saw joe in my home city of liverpool!it was one of the best nights of my life an best night certainly in liverpool!and the philarmonic was rockin !met him in manchester in 2000 an he signed me mates silver ibanez too!fkn amazin
This song does actually make you want to cry. All him soloing. You can just see from his face and body language how much feeling he puts into this. Really amazing.
What makes Satch's playing so unique is the ability to modulate and coax the tone into cries, wails and those sustaining climaxes . His mastery over tones, with the whammy, volume swells and pinch harmonics call for some serious applause
Wow, dude. Don't know where you live, but soooo get to see Satch again. It's one of the most important things on your "bucket list." Peace from Cape Cod, MA. See him in 2014...somewhere....some how!
Cindy Smith I'm from Ireland and currently live in Scotland. I saw him in NYC when I was 14. Could've seen him earlier this year, but I was a bit out of the loop at the time. He probably won't be back here again til his next album.
When Joe plays he plays for his fans but when it comes to this song he plays it for his Dad & it's not hard to see & feel the emotion pour out & why he doesn't smile when the song is over . I've lost both my parents & even at 67 i still that feeling of being an orphan as it is what you become when you lose your parents. How he got Guthrie Govan's band to back him i don't know but wow that's one magical two super talented players.
Paul McCartney does play bass guitar after all and "regular" guitar as well. Does not one say something more along the lines of, e.g., he is the Tiger Woods of guitar playing or Michael Jordan of guitar playing? :-)
Amazing and touching as always (dying to see him already !!) . However, his performance for that piece live in paris in 2008 is much better in my opinion (I think he was back then at its best). See it and judge by yourself
Joe is the most virtuoso emotion translator over guitar. Then come the rest . With Pink Floyd in the lower complexity spectra(gilmour plays easy stuff but so powerful and emotional and perfect) he hits hard on emotionality .
He once in an interview, stated that " people think its a sad song& he doesn't wanna ruin it for them( us the lovers of his music) , so i f ANYONE knows the background on it, can you please share, cuz yeah to me it sounds like an amazingly beautiful emotional song, am I right guys??! JOE SATRIANI your have always been& are still the VERY best of them all ❤❤😍😀😘thanks for all the wonderful songs&memories!!! GOD bless you😎💖😊
There are so much good Guitarist out there, even better than Joe. They can even do what Joe's do, faster than Joe. But, there is none like him who can wrote a Melodious song. Even the Angels will feel the Melodic of his song(s).
+Markavani Sparta I saw him again in Manchester last year and I loved it. However, the Philarmonic had something special that made the whole gig even more special.
"CRYING" & "LOVE THING" are two of my favorite ballads. So beautiful. Thank you Satch ❤
If you don't feel that from 4:45-4:55, then death has never broken your heart.
MK
Joe wrote this song after the death of his father. Steve Vai stated, this was a 'perfect' song.
thank you
can you give me link where vai said that?
yeah..it was perfect..
Satch told us about it during his 2014 show in Singapore

Joe has more feeling in one hand than most people have in their whole body.......what an incredible talent this man is!
thinking of my mom who lost the battle with cancer... this song man just tugs at the heart
What a soul this man has!!!!!!!!!!! Forever JOE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Avoid listening to Joe's music when you are sad. You can be pushed into depression. His music directly goes into the heart.
Not all songs
Very affirmative bro. LOL.

I can't avoid Satriani's songs, I still listen to his songs even if I'm sad.
When I play this song for people, inevitably someone cries. Beautiful song.
Music is a universal language it had no race or era. If it hits you it hits you
So good... Joe's tone and playing is almost otherworldly!
Uno de mis héroes de las 6 cuerdas! Gracias por existir Joe! Melodía dulce la puta madreeeee... único con esa capacidad de expresar con la guitarra
Wow! What an amazing piece of music. Totally in awe of what Joe Satriani can do with a guitar. Surreal.
Fuckin rights.
This song accompanied me during my sickness
This is one of the songs that will be played at my funeral here in the near future. Joe Satriani. You are and always will be the best
This is a masterpiece,my fave of all time...
Guy writes such incredible beautiful music.
It is a sad song, but don't you hear the elation within the melody? For me it's a celebration of life too! You just can't hang on to it forever. 5:33
One of my favorite guitar solos of all time.
Love this song..! Seen Joe 3 times live!

I shed a tear or two while I was recording the video.

I had seen many Guitarist till today but non took my heart as Joe did!! even in 2020.

This song make me do nothing but to look and stare at the sky and cry inside.
Blessed to be in Joe's era....
Damn fuckin tone joe ! You got me there !!!
Thank GOD the cameraman/woman had the brains to show his LEFT hand on the guitar fret board..
Awesome song. It' a masterpiece !! thank you !

Such a soulful sound. Great melody and feel.
He's better than ever. Really need to see him live again. It's been 13 years!

Craftsman at work!!! Virtuosity ceases to have any meaning where this guy is concerned!!! Thanks Joe!!!

Satriani needs to be considered the most melodic guitar player in the history of mankind. He is the Paul McCartney of guitar playing.

Amazing piece of ARTWORK!
music to clear the mind, soul and spirit, my congratulations

3:40.. i never imagined JS doing those notes live coz i havent seen him do that in all live versions of this song.. made my day

Absolutamente magistral...
Awesome. Thanks for the video bro. First time I've ever seen Joe play with such emotion.

Agree about Joe, but Gilmour? Easy? It's not always the notes per second, it's the feel. Get that while playing his solos and then comment
Thank you sir!
This is great... so sad i heard this song
i can't believe it, I'm still listening it from 1994
Incrível! Se fosse a primeira que estivesse ouvindo essa música, ainda assim saberia que era de Joe Satriani.
Legal mas eu acho que a melhor versão ao vivo é a que ele tocou em paris
Amazing.
So sadness instrumental ,,playing gitar joe like crying ,,,best ever gitaris ,,,from Indonesian 🇮🇩
Love the guitars

Goosebumps🥺
Joe is the modern day version of Jeff Beck! Pure feel and beautiful note choices..!
He's such an incredibly emotive guitar player, like one of my heroes Alex Lifeson. Both absolute masters.

Una ejecución perfecta y cargada de sentimientos ,creo q fue inspirada por la muerte de su padre ..grande Joe
Yes it was indeed.
A great guitar piece. It was very inspiring for me. Unfortunately, there are not many live recordings.
the best music
all the song has been made for the bending at 05:33

this instrumental dedicated to our sadness😢
I haven't heard anyone play that chorus like Joe himself.,I've seen lots of covers and they just can't nail the stop after the bend up
