  • Today we head out in my Land Cruiser on a peaceful solo camping adventure in the rugged wilderness of central Idaho and camp in my new rooftop tent next to the beautiful Payette River. I also save a bunch of money by making my own roof rack for the land cruiser, and install my new EZUNSTUCK roof top tent.
The EZUNSTUCK tent is an all aluminum construction, comes in 3 different sizes, is waterproof, and is lightweight and low profile. It also features mounting locations for lights, gear, and additional stuff you may need on your adventures!

What size tyres are you running on the 80 Series? Would love to see more camping videos like this, watching from Australia!

I was always concerned about the 100 kg roof tent sooner or later but will tear body pillars. Hope I am mistaken

I would not be worried about a ~135 pound tent on the roof of an 80 series, given a rack that can support it - the gutter rails definitely can. I would probably remove the tent and sleep in the cruiser if I were to do any rock crawling trails in order to lower my COG and reduce weight up top though.

When your levelling the truck on that rock, I was listening closely to your engine idle. Do all fzj's tick like that?
Ive been convinced mine has issues.. and maybe it does. But hearing yours right after a fresh rebuild, it sounds just like mine. (ticky)
    Anyways, just a random observation.

Ya know, the camera really makes it sound loud when it isn't. In person the engine sounds very smooth with a slight but expected tick. Keep in mind we're also under the vehicle at that camera angle. In the engine bay, revving the engine or at idle, it's very smooth.

Injectors can account for clicking plus the way the valve-train is shim on/over bucket which is going to make some noise, but shouldn't be excessive. I may also have a slight exhaust leak at my cats where I tried to remove them to replace gaskets and gave up due to bolts being rusted lol

Fair enough. Maybe the sound of my engine is completely normal for these inline 6's. I should probably check my valve tolerances just to be sure.
Mine almost sounded like it its coming from the bottom end. But under load and higher rpm it dissipates. (Don't think its rod bearings)
      Who knows. Still runs good..
But boy are these things thirsty 😐

How are the washers treating you? I'm looking to delete my roof rack like you and I'm scared of water coming in.

They work fine, they won’t leak. They have a sealing material molded to the washer itself, they tighten securely and won’t let moisture in.

You aren't seriously going to use that roofrack are you? 😜 You do realize you have to spend gobs of $$$ to be an "overlander" and impress people. 😁 I would feel weird camping that close to a main road tho.
