The MLP era really was something magical for fan animation and other fan created art. I've never seen such a passionate fan base of actual creatives before or since. MLP is fading in the rear view at this point, going farther and farther into the past and quickly becoming forgotten... But it sure was a good time.
I do hope at some point there's a revival this Fandom was way to good to be forgotten. I hope that like Star Trek maybe the release of the new series will bring it back a bit.

It always died down a few weeks after the season finale and started to awaken closer to the next season's release. But after the show's finale, it dropped dramatically. The overwhelming majority have moved on. Now i'm sure there are still some folks who still post stuff from time to time, but it is a hollow shell of what it once was, particularly when it comes to more sophisticated stuff like custom animations.

This is one of the few times where a cover of a song sounds a lot better than the original. SaveFerris' version of Come On Eileen is fast-paced and lively (unlike Dexy's Midnight Runners, who sound like they sung it at 2am after an all-night booze-up), and suits Spitfire's video extremely well. For your first point, what she has in her Joe's probably something stronger than Red Bull... And for your second point, that's actually a good question. Maybe she just flies at high enough altitudes and at high enough speeds to avoid bugs and discourage them from getting close?

Whenever I'm having an off day (pun intended) I come back to this animation. It's just perfect, love everything about it. The animation style is awesome, the characterization of Spitfire is wonderfully done, and then to pair it with an amazing song brings it over the top. You are a talented animator that's obvious but you also are gifted with composition, putting the pieces here together to give us insight into what was at the time a minor character. Spitfires true joy is flying, it allows a freedom and fulfillment that is evident in this video. Thank you for sharing this work of art with us.

François Hoffmann I went for a new theme so I wasn't using the 2011 default anymore, but I'm still tweaking it! The huge amount of negative space is kind of odd and looks a little odd on 1080p monitors, yes. Hopefully some time soon I'll have that fixed!

Hey CH, I don't know if you ever look at comments on old videos but, I just wanna thank you. After a very very long time of denial, I finally started transitioning in 2019, but I never settled on a name. First I tried Cora, then Tempe, even a couple names that absolutely didn't fit me at ALL like Allison and Luna (no shade, this is a joke for other trans girls). Then in August, I was looking through some family photos and found a great great Aunt who never married but lived with her "roommate" well into old age. Her name was Eileen. I couldn't help but smile when I remembered your adorable animation to one of my favorite Ska songs. Wasn't 100% sure til I met my girlfriend later that month.. When I hear her say my name I know it's right. As soon as the magistrate opens up again for non-emergencies, it will be my name on paper too. So thank you, for making this name, my name, stand out so much those years ago. It means the world, a life, in fact. Thank you ❤️

Wow. I usually don't like MLP-related anything. But this is animated remarkably well for a random RUclips animation. The style is pleasant and well-executed. And of course, one of my favorite covers of all time.
The animation captures the feeling of the song just so perfectly its almost supernatural. No idea what the songs about but it feels kinda good, even tho its not at all my kind of music

As funny as it sounds I can see spitfire doing something like that because she is always stern at work so on her day off or in another words in fim you don't really see the wonderbolts off duty probably because they're doing crazy stuff like that. Not often I actually bother to praise stuff that's obviously wonderful. But this is all kinds of beautiful soul warming goodness. I've never been so in love with ponies as I am with Spitfire right now. I wish we had more of these simple fun videos. I could only wish we had this kind of Spitfire sing anything remotely musical in her own focused episode. Even if on screen for 30 seconds. Wonderful animation here. Great choice of song to give Spitfire here. This one's a winner. Best I've seen all year and dare I say even the last. It's just far too addicting and I find myself repeating this over and over again. Bravo. Song, character, and style mixed perfectly well here. It's an all time favorite for me now. What made you pick this song and what gave you the idea for this?
Telaros The song choice was a convenient discovery that fit with a bunch of things. This video is part of a story arc on my blog that channels Ferris Bueller's Day Off. On top it just being a flat out upbeat song, which suits the mood (totally fits with the parade scene, lifted straight out of the movie), and a nice slice of 90s cheese with some more cultured 80s heritage (my blog draws very heavily on 90s nostalgia), it's by the band "Save Ferris", which is another reference. The rhythm of chorus and verse also suits the journey being made (point A to point B with stops C and D in between). Originally I was going to use the Reel Big Fish's cover of Take On Me, which had the bonus of being a little shorter and just as upbeat and with the same 90's-80's callback, but I went with this song for the rhythm and the extra reference power. The idea wasn't amazingly complicated! I aim to do a fairly large animation for release on May 12th every year, and my Patreon has been going well for the last half a year or so, so to celebrate a bit I went back to the finished story blog I'm the most known for an encore. Just a short story arc - a coda - that shows how far the character has come. Believe me, people going back to read my blog after how damn happy Spitfire is here are in for a bit of a shock. Suffice to say, she's earned her happy ending.
CaptainHoers I would pay you a universe-explodingly-large sum of money to make an animated version of Crash And Burn in it's entirety. I'd be so worth it, your art-style is just beautifully unique. Everything you do looks magical to see and feels awesome to watch. ;-)

IF anything from the early fandom needs a re:animate project, it would be this, its just TOO good. ps. its really good to come back here after all these years just to watch from my teens, how time flies.
Ok I ran over this for fun and ended up with waaay different numbers based on my process. I punched in the US based equivalents for Philadelphia (based on Fillydelphia), Baltimore (based on Baltimare), and then Cleveland (based on it's relative position to Cuyahoga Falls and Cloudsdale's relation to Rainbow Falls). The numbers I got are insane but they're too fun not to report on: At the start and end of the video we see it's 9:05 am and spitfire leaves at 00:13 seconds, if she waited for exactly 9:05 am to come before starting her routine we have to start her flight time when she leaves the window at 00:13. At the end of the video the clock reads 9:08 am and rolls over to 9:09 am after 25 seconds meaning spitfire's total travel time of 3:12 seconds. Now with the rough route applied by Google Maps that *sort of* matches the one displayed at 1:37 it says the distance traveled is 474 miles, so Spitfire is traveling this distance in her flight. I punched this into a Time /Distance= Speed calculator and it gave me a whopping 8,870 Mph (762.8 Km) if not faster based on the multiple stops we see her make to bump into ponies on the street and slide down a mountain. Now I'm notoriously bad at math so this could be totally wrong but the process was too fun to not write out and see. Hopefully people find this as interesting as I did.

Spitfire is this hard core general of the elite fliers. I like seeing her in this light. (Both ways. That animation style is vibrant.) Such a cheerie, complete video.
When I first saw this animation I had some legitimate capital-F Feelings. I had just run through the entire Spitfire story at the time, kinda binging it, but I'd been casually keeping up with the story up until then, too. After everything she'd been through, seeing her able to be this openly and genuinely happy was uplifting, and coming back to this animation still helps me with my own depression.

Wow. I usually don't like MLP-related anything. But this is animated remarkably well for a random RUclips animation. The style is pleasant and well-executed. And of course, one of my favorite covers of all time.

This is an excellent video. I really like the animation and the art style of the characters. I love this song, it's a classic; though I listened to the Dexy's Midnight Runners version hehe. Save ferris did a very good cover also. Good work.
As funny as it sounds I can see spitfire doing something like that because she is always stern at work so on her day off or in another words in fim you don't really see the wonderbolts off duty probably because they're doing crazy stuff like that. Not often I actually bother to praise stuff that's obviously wonderful. But this is all kinds of beautiful soul warming goodness.
I've never been so in love with ponies as I am with Spitfire right now. I wish we had more of these simple fun videos. I could only wish we had this kind of Spitfire sing anything remotely musical in her own focused episode. Even if on screen for 30 seconds.
Wonderful animation here. Great choice of song to give Spitfire here. This one's a winner. Best I've seen all year and dare I say even the last. It's just far too addicting and I find myself repeating this over and over again. Bravo. Song, character, and style mixed perfectly well here. It's an all time favorite for me now.
What made you pick this song and what gave you the idea for this?
Telaros The song choice was a convenient discovery that fit with a bunch of things. This video is part of a story arc on my blog that channels Ferris Bueller's Day Off. On top it just being a flat out upbeat song, which suits the mood (totally fits with the parade scene, lifted straight out of the movie), and a nice slice of 90s cheese with some more cultured 80s heritage (my blog draws very heavily on 90s nostalgia), it's by the band "Save Ferris", which is another reference. The rhythm of chorus and verse also suits the journey being made (point A to point B with stops C and D in between). Originally I was going to use the Reel Big Fish's cover of Take On Me, which had the bonus of being a little shorter and just as upbeat and with the same 90's-80's callback, but I went with this song for the rhythm and the extra reference power.
The idea wasn't amazingly complicated! I aim to do a fairly large animation for release on May 12th every year, and my Patreon has been going well for the last half a year or so, so to celebrate a bit I went back to the finished story blog I'm the most known for an encore. Just a short story arc - a coda - that shows how far the character has come. Believe me, people going back to read my blog after how damn happy Spitfire is here are in for a bit of a shock. Suffice to say, she's earned her happy ending.
CaptainHoers I would pay you a universe-explodingly-large sum of money to make an animated version of Crash And Burn in it's entirety. I'd be so worth it, your art-style is just beautifully unique. Everything you do looks magical to see and feels awesome to watch. ;-)
MKtheinstrumentalist On the one hand it'd give me a chance to revisit the sloppy early parts of the story, but on the other I'm not quite sure I'm ready to drop one to two years of my life on it :p

Ok I ran over this for fun and ended up with waaay different numbers based on my process. I punched in the US based equivalents for Philadelphia (based on Fillydelphia), Baltimore (based on Baltimare), and then Cleveland (based on it's relative position to Cuyahoga Falls and Cloudsdale's relation to Rainbow Falls). The numbers I got are insane but they're too fun not to report on:
At the start and end of the video we see it's 9:05 am and spitfire leaves at 00:13 seconds, if she waited for exactly 9:05 am to come before starting her routine we have to start her flight time when she leaves the window at 00:13. At the end of the video the clock reads 9:08 am and rolls over to 9:09 am after 25 seconds meaning spitfire's total travel time of 3:12 seconds. Now with the rough route applied by Google Maps that *sort of* matches the one displayed at 1:37 it says the distance traveled is 474 miles, so Spitfire is traveling this distance in her flight. I punched this into a Time /Distance= Speed calculator and it gave me a whopping 8,870 Mph (762.8 Km) if not faster based on the multiple stops we see her make to bump into ponies on the street and slide down a mountain. Now I'm notoriously bad at math so this could be totally wrong but the process was too fun to not write out and see. Hopefully people find this as interesting as I did.

When I first saw this animation I had some legitimate capital-F Feelings. I had just run through the entire Spitfire story at the time, kinda binging it, but I'd been casually keeping up with the story up until then, too. After everything she'd been through, seeing her able to be this openly and genuinely happy was uplifting, and coming back to this animation still helps me with my own depression.
