That is one of the coolest things I have ever seen! They backed the whole train inside the building and then left down the middle of the road. Awesome video and your dog is really cute!
I love watching the street switching at the brewery, it still amazes me how some that big can fit in the building. Thanks for the close up the train going in the brewery! It's really great to see Witold, he's looking great! Brenda from Johnston Rhode Island
Thanks for sharing another adventure at Door 18 of the brewery. On this video I noticed how close the vertical clearances are besides those on the sides. Watch out for any new low hanging lights or equipment! Cheers from Wisconsin and "Hi" to Witold! Our Chihuahua Peanut is on my lap as I type this.
This is a great prototype example that model railroaders can use that is 100% plausible. Modellers can also use this as a way to disguise the fact that the cars could be going into a hidden track or yard just beyond the interior of the loading/unloading bay.
That old Geep could tell some stories if it could talk. Street switching and street running have always been my favourite hobby. This video makes me want to head for my usual spot... with my camera and a sixer of Utica Club.
Thanks for posting from Canada - enjoy the switching at the plant. They make it look so easy but I know it's not. Lots of planning go into moves like that.
Your videos never disappoint... Great coverage of the local working the brewery in Utica. That switch under the road plate was amazing. Haven't seen one of those before.. Nice to see your railfan companion on the walk home... Another incredible video bro.!!
Good to see your still on here. Had to look you up, to see if you are still making videos. I enjoy seeing this train on the tracks as I pass by on Route 12. Thank you. Your dog looks great. 🙂
Thanks for sharing. My wife grew up withe the Matt family children in New Hartford. From what i used to hear, they would throw a hell of a good party. Just pull up the beer teuck and open the taps. Nice to see Utica with no snow on the ground this time of year👍
People in the UK often ask me why I model a US railroad, I point them to your videos' of #3040 and say "the answer is right there". Nice that the title is a bit of Prose, and we end with Witold.
@@railroadingrambler218 You probably know this but "December 5th, 1933, will forever be marked as the day prohibition was repealed. West End Brewing Co. was the first brewery in the country to have a license, and the first to legally sell beer. There was a big parade that started at the brewery and ended at the Hotel Utica where people enjoyed pints of the first legal beer to be poured in the country, Utica Club."
Yes, I recall reading about that but forgot some of the details; thanks for posting that info. My great grandfather was a saloon keeper in West Utica who operated his business both before and during Prohibition; he was arrested by the Feds but managed to post a very high bail within hours. He was not only selling booze when it was illegal to do so but his offerings contained just a wee bit of wood alcohol, lol. I only found out about this long after my paternal grandfather, son of my bootlegging great grandfather, and my father passed away.
Interesting vid. I've always liked seeing street running/switching. I got a chuckle at the end of your vid, seeing a Labatt Ice can on the ground from up here in Canada. Ironic, being just outside the brewery though. Cheerz
I love street running and I love switching! So street running combined with switching, oh boy! I know they are professionals but that seems crazy that they back out of the brewery without a conductor at the back of the locomotive.
I just found your site when I noticed Utica, NY. I grew up in Wampsville, NY about 150 yards north of the old main line New York Central (PennCentral) before the line was relocated further north in the last 60's to eliminate grade crossing. I have lived in the south for the last 30 years but your videos do remind me of days working in Central New York going in and out of Utica to pick up materials. Makes me a little home sick but not bad enough to ever move back to lousy weather and high taxes. Please keep posting CNY railroading videos.
Very nice video. Easy switching work for this day - no ice, slush, or snow to deal with! Always interesting to watch them delivering to the brewery, too. Withold seemed to be taking things in stride, checking out the smells along the way.😊 Stay safe and well, the both of you!
This is a great video, but to fully enjoy it you have to watch with ear buds or headphones on. You must have a great stereo mic because the audio is topnotch.
That was really cool, looks like quite the operation! I like those under ground switches, there are some near me in Fondulac, WI. Street switching is cool! (Dave).
I wish companies still put any effort into their buildings and sites. Brick factories and warehouses near where people live, with tracks leading into them are so much more asthetically pleasing than miles of gray boxes next to the interstate.
Here in MI, we have been having above freezing days, and below freezing nights, which is ideal for sap collection. Maple sap is being tapped here as well, about 2 weeks earlier than usual.
I'm from Ukraine, a professional programmer for ~25 years, and also a railroad fan, wanting to come to US with my family to stay somewhere in NY or NJ, it seems Utica is an approriate place for that.
Always a treat to watch them switch here and I didn't know they went that deeply into the building. It's hard to tell where these loads originate as the cars are leasers. GBRX is Greenbrier Leasing and GPLX is GATX Inc and they usually use those cars to haul plastic pellets. Too bad you can't see the former CNW yellow or WC cream with red lettering and herald carrying malt as they have been repainted. Glad to see Witold moving under his own power
@@kentpitman5649 thanks for the input sadly the Froedtert malt plant here in West Milwaukee got demolished last year and that was the biggest rail customer in Milwaukee usually about 30 to 40 cars a day in and out combined. Also Anheuser-Busch sold off the Manitowoc WI plant maybe 10 years ago and sounds like they're down to a plant in Idaho. The Manitowoc facility is now just a grain storage facility
Very cool. I just realized that this is the same NYS&W line that runs though my town (Franklin Lakes, or as shown on the NYS&W map, "Campgaw") in NJ. I have been to Utica multiple times, but have never seen a delivery to FX Matt.
When zoomed in at 3:45, looking at the side of the first car it almost looks like the trees are moving instead of the train. I thought that made for a fun optical illusion :)
The curved track alignment is very unique, nice filming. Rail enthusiast from India.
Hello
That is one of the coolest things I have ever seen! They backed the whole train inside the building and then left down the middle of the road. Awesome video and your dog is really cute!
Hey Jaw Tooth! Great to hear from you, always enjoyed your videos, they're epic!
Hey, I’m your big fan
JAW TOOTH!!!!!!!!!!!!

1:52 The switch control is in the road! That is really cool. Great video!
I noticed that too. Only time I’ve seen something like that was on a streetcar line.
Witold! Hi Buddy! This was a fun one, So cozy. Thank you from Southern Oregon.
Always enjoy your videos, I appreciate you taking time to film them!
That switch on the ground and that curved track. Impressive. Great switching action!
This has always been one of my favorite switch operations to watch. Great angle and great video!
Thanks for the videos ! My Grandfather was an engineer on the NYCRR from 1917 - 1967.
That's a long time!
I just know one of my grandfathers was a taxi driver for 12 years.
That’s cool! he saw it go from all steam to all diesel
It was really neat to watch this. Awesome!!
Nicely done,,thanks for sharing..😊
Always enjoy watching these operations. Not sure I'll ever get to see it in person. Thanks for your videos!
I always enjoy watching your videos.
That old Geep could tell some stories if it could talk. Street switching and street running have always been my favourite hobby. This video makes me want to head for my usual spot... with my camera and a sixer of Utica Club.
Looking in from North Yorkshire, England. Love your videos.
All the times I’ve gone to Utica to visit family, I’ve never been able to catch any rail action. Nice video. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome video! Love the switching at the brewery!! Nice catch
Love it…….thanks for showing…..beautiful engine .
Very cool. Thanks for sharing.
Always appreciate your posts. I forward them to other rail fans. One goes to a guy who used to live in Utica and volunteered on the ADK Scenic RR.
I love watching switching, and this is a pretty unusual one. Thank you for catching it for us!
Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for the video.
Great video from Okeechobee Florida.
Haha the Sunrail can't touch this.
I love watching your videos. Thank you for sharing!
That was an awesome video I really enjoyed that.
Interesting video and locomotive at work. Greetings from Poland. 👍
Excellent video documentation of an interesting street running / switching operation. That is a pretty sharp curve going into the building!

They're nicknamed a Submarine Switch, because when it rains, the switch stand is underwater
That flanging squeal is BRUTAL! :P
That switch design is very interesting.
Looking good from Mooresville N.C. , we are now able to get F.X.Matt products here in N.C. Thanks for the video 😊
Good to see your still on here. Had to look you up, to see if you are still making videos. I enjoy seeing this train on the tracks as I pass by on Route 12. Thank you. Your dog looks great. 🙂
Beautiful weather we are having.
These street-running trains are fascinating. We don't have anything like this in my area.
5:13 "Look, ma, I'm on TV". It was nice meeting and talking to you afterwards. Nobody show this to my boss, I called in sick to go take photos
Good meeting you as well!
Let's hope he is not a train enthusiast - Greetings from UK
I called in just to see what condition my condition was in and Trackside therapy was recommended
*I'm telling your boss* - unless you post your photos.
This is very cool to see.
Nice film! Always love seeing good old EMD's switching local businesses. Especially the whirly rumble of turbo prime movers.
Thanks for sharing. My wife grew up withe the Matt family children in New Hartford. From what i used to hear, they would throw a hell of a good party. Just pull up the beer teuck and open the taps. Nice to see Utica with no snow on the ground this time of year👍
I love the railroad switch in the road the conductor throws I always wanted to work for the railroad long time ago
i love how not only is it an old manned switch but its smooth as butter
I love the little green tower at the grade crossing , it looks like the one that Atlas model railroad has been selling for years .
Greetings from Tonawanda NY! It’s cooler than the last few days.
People in the UK often ask me why I model a US railroad, I point them to your videos' of #3040 and say "the answer is right there". Nice that the title is a bit of Prose, and we end with Witold.

That ancient green crossing shanty on Schuyler Street was reproduced as an HO scale brass import by Overland Models some years ago.

I'm amazed the Susquehanna is still running. It came back from the dead in the 1980s and somehow is still hanging in there.

Great video. I like trains. That's a beautiful dog
Nice dog , and love the train thanks for the video
Thank you for your video great ! from france
Love these videos. I need to make it up to Utica to see this for myself someday. I’m not all that far away.
Very cool video, didn't expect to see a classic grade crossing watchman's tower
extremely cool video.. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for commenting!
This is very neat. I love it
Thanks For Video
Take Care -Ruff Ruff!
Good to see this.
Beatiuful video, greetings 👍🔔🚂
It looked like a beautiful day to do some street running. Thanks!
Great video of switching those cars!
That clunk of the couplers was nice and smooth...no jerky slamming.....
Real interesting industry work. It’s cool to find stuff like this.
Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for commenting!
Fantastic video, great train traffic in the city. 👍👍👍🙋♂
Trains and beer! Two of my favorite subjects!
This is a great video, but to fully enjoy it you have to watch with ear buds or headphones on. You must have a great stereo mic because the audio is topnotch.
I'm really curious as to how the rail is configured inside that building /factory, It would be very cool to get a peek inside!
Nice video! Was that an old crossing guard tower in the distance?
Love Locomotive Sounds ❤
That was really cool, looks like quite the operation! I like those under ground switches, there are some near me in Fondulac, WI. Street switching is cool! (Dave).
I saw a seine sorta like this in Chicago as I delivered a flatbed. I too drove through the plaint
Interesting - thanks
I wish companies still put any effort into their buildings and sites. Brick factories and warehouses near where people live, with tracks leading into them are so much more asthetically pleasing than miles of gray boxes next to the interstate.
And towns which have as mixed use main streets as this are so much more interesting than those afflicted by the curse of zoning laws
I Never Seen An Switch Track On The Road! That's Neat!
Good old nuber 3040 back on duty!
Very Kool thanks 😊

Lots of Ukrainians in Utica including old high school friend of mine

Most of the malt comes from the big 3: Cargill Malt in Spiritwood, ND; Rahr Malt in Shakopee, MN; or, Cargill Malt in Sheboygan, WI.

Hey rail rambler glad to Matt's brewery does rail service. 🙋♀️
That was a great video to see.
I have the 3040 pre-ordered in n scale. Great to see her in action.

I used to live in Oriskany , born there.. i know this area well.
This is railroading at its finest, worth modelling
Enjoy all of you upstate NY street rail videos. Have to check the availability of Utica Club and Saranac Ale and try it. Thank you.
That was a good video sir
Matt's Beer was the best. I also like UC as well.

love it
Merry Christmas happy holidays 🎄🎁
2:00 I’m surprised they have a streetcar-like single point switch. Didn’t realize that was allowed on the railroad
I would love to go to Utica to catch some street running. It's about 12 hours/700 miles however for me. *sigh* Nice video. I enjoyed it!
Looking at the footage at 6:13 I'd say pulling 2 mty's out and putting 2 full ones in as that wagon 36107 has its valves open.
I like locomotives with longhood positions
