Hi Susan! Thank you for the tips! I've only driven through Chattanooga so i don't know it well but would love to play there. So I looked up the places you mentioned. The theater looks really nice but definitely a lot of seats to fill! Bud's looks good to me! There's a bunch of pictures of the food they serve on Google and now I'm hungry! Seriously, the food pics got me! Looks great and looked like a nice stage and a laid back slightly rowdy atmosphere. I think i might feel right at home there. Once I'm on the road I'll post all the dates bur I'll personally let you know if I play in Chattanooga or anywhere nearby! I think it's realistic sometime in the next year!

I hope you are right about the career, I had actually given up on the idea of "making it" with my music before this song and people's response came along. If it's in the cards, then I'm not complaining! I am definitely working on more recordings and a video is being edited. We just recorded demos of several songs, but they aren't as polished as something you'd hear on an album. I'm thinking to put a couple up, but curious to know, would you want to hear demos of songs? Or would you prefer to wait and hear more polished production? (Which would mean I probably need to get a record deal and that definitely ain't a given!) What do you think?

Thank you Nate! I really like what you said, it helped me keep some perspective. I really love this song but am still just amazed that people connect with the song so much. Then I see some of the big names with millions and feel like it's a race and I'm behind. While actually in reality I've felt a bit overwhelmed with what is actually happening here, all along with working on a video and recording more songs etc.. So your comment caused me to pause and enjoy the pace of things and appreciate the moment a little more. No way! I wasn't insulted at all. I was flattered and looked him up right away. That kind of thing is cool to me. I even can hear what you mean. I don't have any problem with reminding someone of some other singer. I don't try to sound like anyone but I know we're all human beings connected together so there is going to be some similarities for sure. That's something I love about country music, the connection to the past is championed rather than always having to fight to be different. I think folk, soul, blues and a lot of traditional music forms have that too. I think it's possible to have ties to the previous artists and still bring something new!

Hi! You changed your name right? That's a great question that I'm wondering myself! It gets pretty easy to think there's no way to "make it" which to me would mean have enough success to write, record and play music full time and quit my other job. So thank you very much for the vote of confidence and kind words they matter to me a lot and keep me inspired and doing the work. So getting a song to be a hit... looking like it's A LOT of work and a good amount of luck! Looks like I'm going to sign with a management company, they've been backing me now and wanted a video and more demos to work with. So I've been working on all that. We finally finished shooting a video for "Hard to Say Hi" which was actually quite a challenge to get together. I'd never been in a music video other than goofing around with my phone. There were a lot more moving parts than I would have thought. And I have to say, never have I felt so fricken insecure as having a giant HD camera in my face but after awhile I got used to it. Really made me think of the old Buck Owens classic "Act Naturally". So now the video is being edited and I'm still demoing a bunch of my songs right now. Ultimately for a country song to chart I guess you still need radio play and to have a song get played on country radio they say there HAS to be a record label behind you, no matter how good it is. Radio won't add an unsigned artist because labels are their bread and butter so only label artists get truly added and enough plays to chart. So somehow that will have to happen, we'll see if the stars align. I hope so but either way I'll keep making music and putting it out. There's always a chance that I could put out a video that goes so viral that it makes it on to the charts that way. Because RUclips and Spotify streams count for the charts now too. But it has to be A LOT, like several million in a week. Or I could sell a bunch on iTunes but again has to be A LOT in one week. I wish it was just about the music but a hit on the charts takes a massive promotional push on multiple levels or lightening striking and something going so viral that it breaks through. Not easy BUT not impossible so it will be fun to see what happens! So much for a concise answer! lol Thanks again for asking and the support! :)

Nope, definitely doesn't sound shallow to me! It sounds like you know what you like and don't like. I think it would be really hard to only listen to one genre of music all the time with all the good stuff out there. I think we're similar in our approach, I just like a good song :) But I'll definitely make sure not to send you any hard core rap albums that I put out. Which will probably be zero because no one wants to hear me rap less than i do! ;) I'll stick to the stuff more like the song I just put up and definitely will want to see what you think! :)

Hi Susan! Thank you for the tips! I've only driven through Chattanooga so i don't know it well but would love to play there. So I looked up the places you mentioned. The theater looks really nice but definitely a lot of seats to fill! Bud's looks good to me! There's a bunch of pictures of the food they serve on Google and now I'm hungry! Seriously, the food pics got me! Looks great and looked like a nice stage and a laid back slightly rowdy atmosphere. I think i might feel right at home there. Once I'm on the road I'll post all the dates bur I'll personally let you know if I play in Chattanooga or anywhere nearby! I think it's realistic sometime in the next year!

I hope you are right about the career, I had actually given up on the idea of "making it" with my music before this song and people's response came along. If it's in the cards, then I'm not complaining! I am definitely working on more recordings and a video is being edited. We just recorded demos of several songs, but they aren't as polished as something you'd hear on an album. I'm thinking to put a couple up, but curious to know, would you want to hear demos of songs? Or would you prefer to wait and hear more polished production? (Which would mean I probably need to get a record deal and that definitely ain't a given!) What do you think?

I like singers like Wade Hayes that stay true to either Country Roots. I used to love Chris Young when he started but he lost that Country Sound.

The name Bug Tussle is something my Grandma used to call me . Spent almost every summer at Grams and Gramps farm growing up. Didn’t know till a few years agoBug Tussle is from an old show called Petticoat Junction. Gramms called me that cause I’d catch bugs and feed em to the chickens.

Then I see some of the big names with millions and feel like it's a race and I'm behind. While actually in reality I've felt a bit overwhelmed with what is actually happening here, all along with working on a video and recording more songs etc.. I don't have any problem with reminding someone of some other singer. I don't try to sound like anyone but I know we're all human beings connected together so there is going to be some similarities for sure.
That's something I love about country music, the connection to the past is championed rather than always having to fight to be different. I think folk, soul, blues and a lot of traditional music forms have that too. I think it's possible to have ties to the previous artists and still bring something new!

Hi Travis! This is all i have out at the moment. I have many song written and I'm recording four right now. We're also working on a video for this song. I'll definitely keep you posted. I hope you'll bear with me because I work a job too so it takes a bit longer. But I don't want to rush anything out that's not ready. Thank you for asking and the interest. That's a great question that I'm wondering myself! It gets pretty easy to think there's no way to "make it" which to me would mean have enough success to write, record and play music full time and quit my other job. So thank you very much for the vote of confidence and kind words they matter to me a lot and keep me inspired and doing the work. So getting a song to be a hit... looking like it's A LOT of work and a good amount of luck!
Looks like I'm going to sign with a management company, they've been backing me now and wanted a video and more demos to work with. So I've been working on all that.
We finally finished shooting a video for "Hard to Say Hi" which was actually quite a challenge to get together. I'd never been in a music video other than goofing around with my phone. There were a lot more moving parts than I would have thought. And I have to say, never have I felt so fricken insecure as having a giant HD camera in my face but after awhile I got used to it. Really made me think of the old Buck Owens classic "Act Naturally". So now the video is being edited and I'm still demoing a bunch of my songs right now.
Ultimately for a country song to chart I guess you still need radio play and to have a song get played on country radio they say there HAS to be a record label behind you, no matter how good it is. Radio won't add an unsigned artist because labels are their bread and butter so only label artists get truly added and enough plays to chart. So somehow that will have to happen, we'll see if the stars align. I hope so but either way I'll keep making music and putting it out.
There's always a chance that I could put out a video that goes so viral that it makes it on to the charts that way. Because RUclips and Spotify streams count for the charts now too. But it has to be A LOT, like several million in a week. Or I could sell a bunch on iTunes but again has to be A LOT in one week. I wish it was just about the music but a hit on the charts takes a massive promotional push on multiple levels or lightening striking and something going so viral that it breaks through. Not easy BUT not impossible so it will be fun to see what happens! So much for a concise answer! lol

lol Hi Andie! I'm glad you even want to hear more so thanks for asking! I'm actually feeling a bit impatient myself. Been demoing 6 different songs and a video for this one is close to done being edited. I really want to get through this phase and get out and play more. I'm not quite sure when I can post something but I promise I will at some point! I've heard "Hard to Say Hi" so much I've resorted to playing it backward to see if there are any hidden messages. So far I found the second half of the second verse of "Amarillo By Morning, in German, kinda :p

Nope, definitely doesn't sound shallow to me! It sounds like you know what you like and don't like. I think it would be really hard to only listen to one genre of music all the time with all the good stuff out there. I think we're similar in our approach, I just like a good song :)
But I'll definitely make sure not to send you any hard core rap albums that I put out. Which will probably be zero because no one wants to hear me rap less than i do! ;)
