@@BJGvideos yes, though i definitely apply a compulsion to write and study great adventures. You know how in the 19th century people would watch a battle from the sidelines? Yeah. These guys are near suicidal. You might find them intentionally checked into a drow slave arena. Mechanically Roll them as bards with their performance to be oratory storytelling. Gives them something interesting to be doing in towns and cities if you see one. I have lot of specific direction but i feel like the stuff i left out makes them a better template than trying to tell you every aspect but ill say they want their stories because it ultimately earns them mates and renown in their society and opt for having their own adventures for stories though finding an old or obscure tome about some famous hero or event gets them going as well. So basically the tortle dream is to go on a dungeon run to get some old scrolls and get two for one 👌
Bruh you didn't cover how ABSURDLY well they harmonize with the monk class: a bonus beak attack and extra-tough unarmed Meelee, plus a high unarmored A.C.? It's like the folks at Wizards Of The Coast WANTED to make a race of Oogways.

Tortles are the best. I went all in on the "wants to try out everything so he can pass his knowledge onto the next batch of orphans" angle, & now I have a pirate captain turtle man who sold his soul to gain fluency in every language and does one of every drug he can find.
I made a tortle necromancer one time who would maintain a big horde and command them to go after dudes then retreat into his shell for a time. The party oathbreaker paladin was fond of dousing me in oil and sending me sailing down hills (sometimes surfing me). Keep in mind my dude was also very physically strong due to ability score modifiers and good rolls, so after this I would often pop out of the shell and just start beating people with a stick using the cantrips Booming Blade and Green-Flame Blade. Thunderwave was also a common tactic if I was swarmed and allies weren't in radius. Was good times.
I just made a Tortle in a little mini campaign my friend made. He loves making new friends and meeting people, but it so adorably bad at it (he has a -1 in charisma). I love him.

So in yours, the lifespan is considered so short because of high death rates, not because they age so fast?
I relate to Mudgraw on both a spiritual and physical level
Bruh you didn't cover how ABSURDLY well they harmonize with the monk class: a bonus beak attack and extra-tough unarmed Meelee, plus a high unarmored A.C.? It's like the folks at Wizards Of The Coast WANTED to make a race of Oogways.
Only one applies sadly, read the rule book. It's either you are taking that 17 or you are taking your monks regular unarmored defense. Whichever is higher
Nortle the Tortle, the Monk in my ToA game approves of this message I'm sure (can't ask him since some Girallons took him out a bit ago F in chat). The AC boost is wild, he could not be hit by anything and the Bard was dying every encounter. Suppose it's ironic that the Bard is still alive but Nortle isn't. First time players are great to run for.
F.
I've started playing dnd, and i wanna thank you for that. Your videos inspired me to delve into the magic of dnd
GRR YOU TAKE BANDWIDTH FROM 14 HOUR STREAM
Jacob Treuer were doing an eberon 1shot rn
Overlord is an amazing anime! So excited for the movie soon!
Last time I was this early Dragon Born weren't a thing.
bruh, they've been a thing since 1st edition
@@elf-lordsfriarofthemeadowl2039 I thought that in the lore they came to Toril recently?
@@1KosovoJeSrbija1 That's dragonborn
@@shaness112233 WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?!
@@samuelevans738 If you're not joking, quite a bit. Dragonborn experience the full range of human emotion and are very prideful, lizardmen are pure robot rationality. A lizardman doesn't understand "friend", they understand "useful for now". Lizardmen have a very distinct place in the world, dragonborn are beings ripped from another dimension within the current generation trying to find a niche to fit. There's quite a bit more, but I'm not trying to post it here.
P.S. If you want to piss of a dragonborn, call them a lizardman. They no likey. Just because they're scaley doesn't mean they're the same.
Tortles are the best. I went all in on the "wants to try out everything so he can pass his knowledge onto the next batch of orphans" angle, & now I have a pirate captain turtle man who sold his soul to gain fluency in every language and does one of every drug he can find.
Why you uploading the same time as the 14 hour stream????
I made a tortle necromancer one time who would maintain a big horde and command them to go after dudes then retreat into his shell for a time. The party oathbreaker paladin was fond of dousing me in oil and sending me sailing down hills (sometimes surfing me). Keep in mind my dude was also very physically strong due to ability score modifiers and good rolls, so after this I would often pop out of the shell and just start beating people with a stick using the cantrips Booming Blade and Green-Flame Blade. Thunderwave was also a common tactic if I was swarmed and allies weren't in radius. Was good times.
Tortles motto: “Don’t knock it’s till you try it, bro.”
I just made a Tortle in a little mini campaign my friend made. He loves making new friends and meeting people, but it so adorably bad at it (he has a -1 in charisma). I love him.
runesmith: i know why you're here, you're bored
me: sad truth
This crunchyroll sponsorship arc was actually foreshadowed by that one time Runesmith posted about BNA on Twitter
So theoretically. I could have a four man party of young adult multiclass rogue/kensai monk tortles?
Tortles are from the Savage Coast in Mystara. The event horizon that is the Forgotten Realm stole it. Love that they brought them back.
As comedic as your opening Ad is, I just wanna say that I genuinely look forward to seeing your videos, man. You're a really funny dude, and your videos are a WAY EASIER method to digest than reading the books (which goes to show how lazy I am).
Thanks for all of your hard work
0:12 Sheer Heart Attack has no Weaknesses
I just searched tortle few days ago because i was genuenly interested in the race, and now you drop a bomb like this on me
Im gonna play tortle now. And ever. Forever
I'm pretty sure the average lifespan of Tortles is 50. So they live very long, but have a lot of kids, most of whom die very quickly.
But to be honest, the idea of the turtle guy being a really young creature is way more funny. Essentially like if they were octopuses who were living the turt live.

Nice reference
Tortles: *Master survival and just vibes*
Lizard folk: THEY CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THIS
2:39 got me right in my heart. Love em turts.
I just started my first game as a tortle, and now I'm realizing their whole thing is "no ambition, just vibe" and I really screwed myself over trying to roleplay
I once made a tortle sorcerer named Clarence. He halved the campaign’s BBEG on turn 1 with a lvl 9 time stop.
"I know why you're here... you're bored." Me who recently played a tortle and wanted to learn lore. ]:
A party with a tortle and a tabaxi, one searching for stories and one searching to witness stories.
It's not cause I'm bored (not further than anyone one youtube) it's because I like the style and humor of the videos you put out.
F*ck your ads, I'm here to see the guy that makes me smirk and laugh. Stay awesome!
Just imagine playing a tortle in its late forties and your only goal is to find "love"
The fact that Tortles are fine with experiencing any and all cultures, religions, and experiences implies there are some reaaaalllyyy messed up Tortles having some real disturbing vacations in the lower planes and loving every second of it 0.o
My Tortle, Genbu is a former Barbarian turned Monk that wanders the world to hone his craft.
I've based him on the Homebrew varient of Razorbacks purely for flavour and appearance. So the middle ground between a Snapping turtle and a Tortoise.
He's very headstrong but well meaning, wise beyond his years but not very booksmart.
Me: maybe i should watch something that isn't anime
Logan: "this video is sponsored by crunchyroll"
"imagine your life starts from you hatching from a egg."
Me: "well looks like were looking at the yuan-ti pure-blood today."
I've always Loved Tortles, theyve existed in a few editions and I always love being a mellow Shelly boy
I'm making a world slowly, starting with an area In basing on the history of the Caribbean (watching lots of pirates & playing AC4 got it stuck in my head)
So far the natives of the islands in building are the remnants of Yuan-ti, I've got an archipelago planned for the Lizardmen and I've started thinking of a Tortle home so I've come here
Your videos help a lot, so I just wanted to say thank you
Watch at x.5 speed for immersion, as if you were a freshly hatched Tortle listening to Papa's stories of your culture.
Tortles pulled that epic gamer move for their kids have some character development
I feel like the reason they have such wonderlust is cause turtles are always crossing roads and shit even though it’s dangerous
DM: What race you wanna be?
Me: You seen "Kung Fu Panda"?
DM: Yeah?
Me: I'm Oogway.
Think of how these guys could become some of the most vicious and evil creatures, the fact that they're just willing to try out some necromancy and cannibalism for the "experience".
4:59 "Oh Mudgraw."
*pre-recorded audience laughter*
No, I am not bored and watching this, I am terrified and watching this to mask my insecurities and the fears of adulthood.
I don't know why, but Tort Fort 2 tickled me silly. Thank you for being awesome Runesmith!
So i was accurate when making a tortle that is an inter-planar traveler who shows up to give weird magic items after riddles.
