Because of the stands capacity. It was cheaper to build a temporary pool within a venue that can fit a lot of people than to increase the capacity of already existing swimming venue.
It's not permanent. What they did was create an elevated platform so the pool itself is on the ground. So when the Olympic Swimming qualification stuff is over with, the pool with be dismantled and the stadium will be once again ready for other events. This honestly feels more like a test of what can be done.
A combination of Indianapolis economic development funds, corporate sponsorships, US Olympic budget, etc. Infrastructure of all the pools have already been sold - they will be dismantled and shipped to other locations for permanent installs. Allows for over 20K spectators - have already broken records for highest attendance for any swimming event in history.

It's great. In reality, it's just a huge above ground pool, similar to those found in many backyards (Just more complex due to its size).
Very cool. Could have done without the terrible music though!😂
Where’s the drains?
How do they fill in the sides? Did they pour concrete into the pool? This is amazing!
What about the Diving competitions?
different location
Any idea how much this cost?
I would imagine a few million dollars at least.
Why!? There are plenty of pools around for this.
Seating capacity
Thanks. I'm impressed...
Couple a hundred dollars...
Freaking awesome idea
where is the funding coming from for all this?
Why do you care? Not from your pocket.
Why do you care? Not your pocket.
Omg That's wild.
Terrible music .... Why? cannot be as cost effective as an existing facility?

Is this really Lucas Oil Stadium? Is the pool permanent? I thought the DCI final on August 10 will be there.

If it can be manifested in a thought and believed, there's nothing a man can't achieve...
Created in the image of GOD!
What a waste of money
Who is paying for all of this?

Not likely coming out of your pocket so why the concern?
