If anything steak is DEFINITELY ruined for you because steak in Japan is on several levels above everywhere else in the world. Whereas you can still get decent ramen in the US. At the same time though, you spend a lot of time in Asia so should be no big deal.

Good earplugs plus tiger balm (or stronger) seems te help tons. Rub is on the pressure points way before descending. Just behind the earlobe, and rub it like it's your last day on earth.
