@PereMarquette1223 It wore a Reading 6 Chime for many trip the first year it ran. Lately, they've been putting on 3 chimes. This CNJ whistle is one of the nicest on 425, atleast I think so.
Ummmm... first? Adam, this is clearly your best video of 425 yet. The shots seem like that of a true professional, and the angles seem well thought out too. Plus it's easier to take this video seriously without the ROFLbell acting up. Oh, and the CNJ 3 chime sounds (a rarity for me to use this word) beautiful. (Though I'm still not upset that I missed this!) - Jonathan
They look like SD50's, and they can probably get up to national limits, 79mph. Not on here, of course. But I think their main purpose is for additional power and HEP for the carriages, would be my guess.
That is one SERIOUSLY beautiful loco. Love the blue with the white accents and wheel rims.
#425 has the loudest stalk talk of any steamer I've ever heard! I could barely hear the bell or the whistle! Sheesh! Awesome vid BTW.
I like this whistle on her best, she wears it very nicely
This has to be my favorite whistle on the 425!!!
Falls, Pa had to have been the most amazing thing to see for 425.. Outstanding location
Wow, pretty soon the future Reading-Pittston occasional excursions will be possible to come!
Excellent Video!! Man that is a cool lookin' engine!! Amazing whistle too!!
Hahaahha I think at 6:12 it set off a car alarm. Very nice video, that's my favorite whistle of 425's arsonal
I still think this is one of the nicest sounding whistles she has ever worn
Just checked a roster, both 5022 and 5014 are SD50's, ex-UP.

They are there to provide assistance when needed. Those cars do not need HEP.

Penn Rail Videos the SD50 @ 4:46 has a burnt spot on its roof
It's a Reading 3 chime.
Great work!
LOVE the horn! why the diesel helpers?
425 is a beauty, love the whistle. That train was packed, maybe Andy will see a need for something bigger on the head end.
Ummmm... first?

The Aux tender behind 425 is also a former reading tender from a camleback I believe
Nice Crossings there
It would be good with a cn 5 chime in my opinion
Just DIVINE- So VERY Alive-. A commanding queen she is- .
I can agree 100%.
a PRR 3 chime would be a perfect match for the 425, but hey thats just me lol :)
They already did with 425
Good point. My bad haha.
Was that the water tender behind the 425’s tender
Yepper.

Rock 'N' Roll Train by AC/DC
I love one of those songs that rocks around the world!
They look like SD50's, and they can probably get up to national limits, 79mph. Not on here, of course. But I think their main purpose is for additional power and HEP for the carriages, would be my guess.
Penn Rail Video what type of whistle does the 425 have
CNJ 3 Chime
@smncutler414 If a locomotive is traveling on a mainline track, it must have dynamic breaking, and since steamers don't have them...
@trainboy911 if they run on mainline track, they need dynamic breaking
@smncutler414 probally for electricity for the coaches.
at 0:30 i thought my AC/DC cd started playing in the background lol
sd50's cant provide HEP.
saw cool
The 425 may be big, but she's not the most powerful engine around.
