The more episodes I watched, the more I like Ted Bessell.
Love her ❤️
A good episode.
Ted Bessell, as Donald Hollinger, is so adorable, fun, kind, and loving. The kind of boyfriend every young girl would want. He is very masculine as well. That kind of guy is obsolete today. Too bad.
Well, to be fair to all the guys in the world today, Donald Hollinger is a character invented to be the perfect boyfriend for Ann Marie. 😊
I know Donald is a fictional character, and an ideal. Nobody would want to watch a selfish, abusive, oafish jerk. Ann deserves a good guy, like Don.
I'm older (61) and still in love with this type of man- probably because of watching this show when I was younger. Do the Don's of this world naturally morph into men like Ann's father as they age and take on the responsibilities of a family- I wonder.
@@sbella6719the don normally means like a gangster type of person
@@johngibson3837 that would be with a capital (T)he Don 😉
Ahhh, The Groovy days of the late 60s. We went roller skating every Friday night, but I don't ever remember anybody wearing a short skirt with fishnet stockings, LOL!
Roller-disco started in the 1970's. Mini skating skirts and fishnet stockings were a big part of that. And the girls wore...............
What is fishnet stockings ?
@@pattipurcell6382 Somebody with the name "Patti" surely knows what fish net stocking are. LOL!
@MsMars. So what did people wear?
Love her orange dress and the white nail polish!
So "Maryanne" in this one, with the pigtails. Adoreable❤
I wish I had a “Donald” to kiss my troubles away. 😊😢💔
I wish I had an "Ann".
Get in touch with Jacktheripoff.😊
Maybe Deltapeach could get in touch with JackThe RipOff, or vice versa. You seem to want the same things!!
The guy obsessed with the hairspray in the studio is none other than Rob Reiner. He went on to have a reasonably successful career as an actor, and director.
Rob's father Carl Reiner was associated with Danny Thomas, especially through the Dick Van Dyke show, so it follows through that Danny and daughter Marlo would give Rob Reiner some acting jobs on That Girl. It was All in the Family...uh...oh...wait...did I just do a pun? not sure....

Well said. A good addition to my comment.
It's nice to see 'That Girl' wasn't cast as the blonde hair blue eyes stereotype. Her dark hair and big brown eyes are beautiful. Happy to see that Marlo and Phil Donahue are still together after all these years.

Skating in a suit? LOL
That’s what I wondered?
As usual, Ann has the wrong idea about skating. You can't learn how overnight. I had a pair of those steel skates with a key, when I was 6, and never got the hang of it. Our sidewalk was cruddy, too.
Twinkie girl. LOL
I would have loved me a Donald ❤
Men skating in suits & ties 😂
Was this before Twinkies were a popular snack cake? I sense a lawsuit!
Twinkies have been around since the 1930's.
Certainly an improved opening that I remember, the theme song doctored up to be more jazzy and closeups of Marlo rather than watching her running all the time lol. A perpetual smile that even dentists were jealous of.
I love the opening of the second season it a Masterpiece i have a That Girl doll with Ann holding her flag
People have different preferences. I liked season 1's opening because it had the theme (by the great Earle Hagen) played with trumpets and pizzicato violins and because it showed Ann and Don together. I also liked how it reminded me of how NYC looked in the 1960s, when the Empire State Building towered over the other parts of the skyline. Today more than 10 buildings in Manhattan are taller than the Empire State Bldg -- entering the Lincoln Tunnel, unless you know just where to look, you won't see the Empire State because of Hudson Yards. But I like the end shot of season 2 better -- back in the days when the flat roof of the then Pan Am Bldg allowed an operating heliport. That was the way to commute!
the guy destroy our ozono 1
I find this episode to be strange. I realize that Marlo Thomas is 16 years older than I, but skating was VERY popular in the 1950's. By the time I was 10 or 11 years old (1964/1965) I had mastered roller skating on sidewalks and streets as well as in roller rinks. I also could ice skate very well by that time. Today I could no more do those things if someone put a gun to my head, but I just don't get it.
And you can tell she really can skate, especially at the very end when she shows Donald that she can do a half turn. You certainly can't do that, and so smoothly, if you are such a novice skater.
Did anyone recognize Rob Reiner?
I couldn't say no to Ann Marie and her big brown eyes either.

Twinkie is the drinkie but just not the one for Don.
