I think people complaining about the season were hoping for the show to resolve all the loose threads from the second season. Carmys clearly regressing, Sydney is experiencing alot of unvoiced trauma, Richie has bettered himself as a man but is dealing with lonliness.
And I don't think people are used to media where characters path to self-actualization isn't straight forward.

This was my favourite episode of the season. One of the biggest takeaways for me is that if Donna, the person that has probably caused the most damage in her children's life, is actually willing to work on herself and try to be better, then there is hope for Carmy to do the same.
I think there's a reason that Carmy is so heavily fixated on the Chef that tormented him and was abusive and made Carmy feel like he wasn't good enough. It mimics Carmy's relationship with his mom, where she probably never made him feel good enough and so he has this overwhelming drive to be perfect and is never satisfied. If Carmy wants to truly get better, he isn't going to need to just deal with the PTSD from his experience with the abusive Chef, he will also need to deal with his relationship with his mom and the whole family dynamic he grew up with.
I REALLY hope we get a fantastic moment between Donna and Carmy before the series ends.

I think this season is good. I think the people who don't care for this season or who say it is too slow are people who are more invested in the restaurant storylines and not as interested in a deeper dive on the background of the characters. I get that but I think this is time well spent. This is quality acting and writing and in the long run it will pay off. Its not like they are recycling the same terrain the way some shows do to try to drag it out. I also agree that this episode is likely more impactful for women who watch it than men, although I thought it was a good episode and really like Abby as an actor and love her character and Jamie Lee Curtis has always been a real talent.

    • @dtgstl3148

Excellent take. The show is not really about a restaurant, it's about the interpersonal relationships of the people who work in the restaurant and all of their emotional struggles coming to grips with some pretty heavy life experiences.

The complaints about the season were more about it as a whole rather than problems with individual episodes. The quality of the show is as high as ever. People just felt like it didn't move forward enough, like the situations the characters find themselves in are very similar to how we left them in the season 2 finale, not enough got resolved for it to feel satisfying.

@@alexis45jones I enjoyed the season myself and I'm not saying the way it's written isn't realistic. Just that some people found it unsatisfying because of the lack of progress with most characters. I imagine if we had season 4 available right away there would be no complaints.

Two opening scenes in the car and the parking lot. Two closing scenes in the hallway and waiting room. Other than those and a shot or two of a nurse, this entire episode consists entirely of a two shot and close ups of these two incredible actresses. Abby Elliott and JLC with Emmy worthy performances. Masterful.
Everyone is obviously entitled to their own opinion, but I just can’t fathom not liking this season, I thought the whole thing was as brilliant as ever. Great reaction!
Also, not saying anything y’all don’t know, but as a non-American, the cost of ambulances/general health care in the US is so infuriating and heartbreaking :(

I would still consider this the weakest season in terms of my own preference (2>1>3) but agreed on how can people possibly call it weak. 3x01, 3x06 and 3x08 are all like top5/10 episode contenders

    • @joeyjoejoejuniorshabadoo5330
      @joeyjoejoejuniorshabadoo5330 Месяц назад

@@monfernova I think I pretty much feel the same way about all of this! For me it’s like:
      1. Season 2
      2a. Season 1
      2b. Season 3
i.e. Season 1 has the slight edge but season 3 is very close. That’s not to say Season 2 is leaps and bounds above the other two, but it’s my clear favourite.
Those 3 episodes in S03 are among my favourites in the whole series as well. For me, Fishes and Forks are on another level, but then I’d group those 3 episodes with several others from S01 and S02 as the best of the rest

The best thing about skipping the epidural is that once the baby is out, the pain is over. Epidurals stay with you after the birth...the numbness, the (sometimes) spinal headaches, risk of paralysis...
That said, pitocin makes the contractions SO. MUCH. MORE. PAINFUL. Pit makes early labor feel like transition. I don't begrudge anyone their epidural. You gotta have a plan (and hopefully a doula) if you want to deliver naturally in the hospital.

People are disappointed because of the major dip in form. The Claire Bear arc killed it.
She popped up randomly, and everything got much worse because of it.
A large part is the fact she was never mentioned in season 1; this is what did the character in.
We spent the whole season metaphorically trapped in the walk-in. For nothing.
The first episode was an hour long food montage and it was hilarious watching reactors react like me: 'it's over already? there was no story really, but it was beautiful and this The Bear so we'll say it is amazing art'.
We were being finessed and it continued all season. I'm vexed.

What is with the ambulance hate. Ambulance prices are set by the state. Medicare and Medicaid, the primary insurance of most ambulance patients, only pays a fraction of the cost they are allowed to charge. It's not the fault of the ambulance service that the US has such a shitty insurance system that allows insurance companies to choose what to deny rather than paying. Ambulance service, for the moment, can only charge if the patient is transported so Mabel's plan to call an ambulance to deliver her baby and then refuse transport is wrong for so many reasons. First it potentially endangers the lives of the mother and child and secondly the ambulance service has to eat the cost of all the supplies used and the salary for the EMTs. Which is one of the reasons why ambulance services cost so much. Even when ambulance services are municipality based that municipality bills for ambulance services because it would be fiscally irresponsible not to. People hate paying for a life saving service for some reason but have no problem with paying $300 for their doctor to stick their head in their hospital room and chat them up for 2 mins. Granted many many people call an ambulance for stupid stuff that doesn't require an ambulance. I've gone to calls for nightmares and a literal scratch from their cat basically across the street from the hospital.
