- Waterfalls and deserts aren't things that traditionally go together! Well today we drive our van to a waterfall that is deep in the desert! Only in Tunisia!!
Join us today as we explore the Mides region of Tunisia and find out how water has shaped this landscape from 60 million years ago to the present day! We find ancient fossils that have been carried in rain water from Algeria, explore a canyon that has been carved through millions of years and find a waterfall that literally blows our minds!
Vanlife in Tunisia is incredible and being able to visit these places and wake up in some of the most beautiful landscapes is something we'll never forget! We finally get to see a waterfall in the desert but it isn't just any waterfall! It is a HOT SPRING waterfall set amongst some of the most stunning landscape with a view of the Algeria border!
Not a bad day in the vanlife for us!

You two handle the whole aspect of sellers and locals trying to make a living just perfectly. You are so conscious of the difficulties and awkwardness but respond in a totally responsible and thoughtful way, well done to you. I was unsure about you traveling to Tunisia, purely based on uninformed preconceptions of the country but what an eye-opener it's been. they are showing the real tunisia many tourist just spent all their holidays on hotels and think that this is tunisia when they lost the opportunity to explore many places btw there is must also go to the north they must visit tabarka , in drahem etc.....

This is Chebika Oasis you did good by going there early before of the tourists invasion. For the sellers unfortunately you can't help everyone, you are already being generous with some it's already nice from you, and the others will be helped by someone else as it's always happening, the Berber pizza is Called Mtabga, very easy to prepare and very tasty. So if I guess your next video will be about Tamerza and Mides. Can't wait for it.
I want to comment on your "dilemma" it's simple really, you are correct. Not only that, you were very generous, this video alone and you visiting and creating exposure is worth a hundredfold! Nothing but love and praise! ❤️🇹🇳🙌🏼

You should visit korbous as well it's a small town but original
Hey, we actually visited Korbous when we first arrived but it was on one of our workdays so we didn't include it in a video :) it was very pretty in that area with the cliffs.
Meeks coughing at the end over that coffee 🤣🤣 guys the hotspring waterfall thing was awesome! Literally never imagined there being a hotspring & waterfall in a desert. Your level of trust handing over your camera hurt my brain 🤣🧠 you have good judgement it seems, he was lovely with that crystal and all at the end.
They looooove strong coffee here. Actually can't wait for a proper long americano in a coffee shop when we get back home. They are like 4 sips and blow your brains out here. Honestly never questioned handing him the camera, he was very friendly but my mum always says we have a good gut feeling for meeting people and who to trust (we've been ok so far anyway haha) but equally we've been very lucky that we've not had traumatic things happen like you guys which makes you more skeptical of people. If we'd been robbed before we would probs be the same!

Wow another brilliant Vlog. You guys are showing us the real world over and over again and its amazing. Tunisia looks fantastic and that walk through the gorge is a once in a lifetime memory. Keep them coming and keep enjoying and exploring.
Just watched again then found I hadn't commented! What can I say, loved the whole episode. The lovely Amor who gave you the crystal, the Gorge, the waterful, stunning. Yes, we have the same situation with the stalls and sellers here in Morocco at (what used to be) isolated or less visited places of outstanding beauty that have become popular. Ofcourse a living must be made and a no thankyou is usualy accepted. We found many are from one or two families so to buy a little something meant you had bought from them all. With just backpacks its not possible to buy large items, (loved the camel by the way) and its you being sensitive to the people and environment that makes you care like you do but it is something that is part of travelling and you will find your balance. Never lose your careing natures though as this is all to rare with many travellers,especially vloggers. Some even forget where they are and show no respect or curtesy to the peoples. Thinking they have some rights to laud over centries of customs and traditions. This is happening in tourist area in Morocco and is hard to witness. Anyway, another long comment I know, take care both and seecyou in the next one. Thanks for taking us to these exciting places. 👍🌞

mmmmm it's one of our favourite street foods! Especially when they put the small cheese triangles in and mix it together with the spices.

Oh really? I'm so glad you think so! I was a bit worried this video might be considered less interesting than last week's because it was more about the landscape and nature than the human interaction and chaos. But we love both sides of travel equally so i think it's important to show it and apparently people enjoy seeing both sides too so that's really good! Courts x

I might not agree with you.
If there is 20 sellers and they are all selling the same things.
Just buy one. 1 Dinars is not a lot of money it’s £0.26
You don’t have to buy 20 items 🤔

If the next sellers ask you to buy just say it nicely i’ve got one already.
Or just be firm but with a smile.

Regarding those beautiful Amazigh ( Berber ) villages Chebika and Tamerza
No rain for 6 years but when it rains it’s torrential and you don’t want to stock on them gorges.
There are even bigger and more impressive ones near by: It’s called SELJA gorges
Worth a visit.

If I were you I would create my own flag and plant it there in "Midès" as a way to say I am the first tourist who ever been to that gem (and in your case I bet the flag would be orange right ?), not many tourists know about it and I am glad you showed it to the world, Tunisia is more than just Medina and Sousse and Hammamet and Jerba, Tunisia is like a video game and you're trying to unlock as many levels as you can before going back to your home country and you guys are really mastering the game now, Remeber when I told you "welcome to JUMANJI" on your first vlog of Tunisia ? yep I wasn't kidding, TUNISIA = ADVENTURE

Hey Rzigui, we should have done this! and of course the flag would be orange, you can see this is our favourite colour. I didn't realise not many tourists go there - i think we assumed because of all the traders that it was a popular place but maybe just popular with the locals? We loved this area so much and definitely hope to return to it one day when we come back to Tunisia again. We also visited the Mides canyon but we just didn't include in the video because it would have been too long. It is a fascinating area and you're right about Jumanji! Arafat, our guide from last week's video had a different phrase about Tunisia. He says "Tunisia is like a sweet cake, never finished". And i think you are both right. (i just woke up and I could really eat a Mtabga for breakfast now but we are on the beach in the north near the most northern point so i doubt we will find anything like that around here haha).
@@courtsandmeeks ikr, you didn't expect yourself to be eating spicy food on breakfast until you visited Tunisia haha.
You can always find some sellers on the edge of the road or in the toll plazas of a highway, but for the northerst point of Africa I doubt you will find any there cause this northest point of africa is still a new idea and the area is still not well developped with shops and businesses etc...

Sellers that hassle you always ruin the experience, I don't know why they can't understand that. I am more likely to buy from a stall without pressure as I will walk away from something I would have probably bought if I didn't feel harassed.

I love this, but I’m wondering. Didn’t you show a map of places you would not be going for safety reasons in one of the first Tunisia videos? What are your thought?
It's obviously not true. Tunisia is safe.
I think they decided to follow the advice of the local government as they were Camping literally across from the police station, a wise decision. Besides, the UK advice map is fairly outdated and does not reflect the reality on the ground. Rule of thumb is don’t cross into Algeria or go up the mountains shared between the two nations as there are no visible borders there. I was there in the same area in 2015 (bad year in Tunisia) and it still felt extremely safe as the national guard was present all along the borders and when we went deep into the dunes some unit even provided escort. that’s Tunisia we border libya and algeria but we gotta make the most out of our geography.. 😅
Yes, we have felt very safe here in all the places we visit. Even close to the Algeria border.
Hey @Magne Fauli, you're right we did show a map in our first video of the series and this area would have been too close to Algeria for it to be considered in the green safe zone on the UK gov website but when we were in the area, we found out for ourselves that it felt incredibly safe and you would have no idea you were so close to the border if you didn't know about it, so we made a decision in the moment to still explore. Especially after we had bumped into the Guard Nationale and they told us we are very safe to explore here and free to go wherever we wanted but they would feel more comfortable if we slept outside the office in town just so they knew where we were when it was dark (although this isn't uncommon across the whole country, the police often want us to sleep outside the office rather than in nature!) I think Mouath T below is right in their comment, the only place maybe to be avoided is in the mountains in the north where there is no physical border between the two countries and lots more military presence.
Just to be pedantic you should never use Sahara and desert together. Sahara means desert so you are saying I'm going to the Desert Desert
Guys do not justify yourself. Tunisians are traders from centuries they know that their daily income can vary and they believe that its already written before even you pass by their shops.
So, enjoy your stay, you are kind and believe me no body there will blame for not purshasing goods... take care ;)

When we went to Mos Espa the star wars site (we didn't record it for a video because we didn't really enjoy the place) but the sellers were to pushy surrounding our car with camels and crystals as soon as we parked telling us they have children at home who won't eat without us buying something so it makes us very aware of the how important this income is for some people. And that's what makes us feel bad i suppose that we can't help every stall.
guilt tripping game is used by some to force you buy staff.. i understand your feelings. But with your videos you are helping tunisians and tunisian tourism to get better. You are sharing to the world and to british genuine experiences with locals, deep inside tunisia. No ad compaign can worth that. So thank you for this. Keep it up ;)

I think you misunderstand us, because for us it does feel like a dilemma when we know we have money to support them but can't afford to support every single seller we meet in Tunisia. you didn't understand me most of those "sellers" are not sellers and most of what they're selling is valuless,so the guilt is baseless,in fact,you should be harsh on them because those school drop out kids belong to schools and you need to call the police on them "sellers" because they're laterally intimidating people by making them uncomfortable,pushy is not the right word assault is!A lot of them have other jobs,some receive help from the government,others sneak out of work to walk around all the day.
Sometimes some people offer you a tour,don't feel the urge to give them money simply because they didn't tell it's payable
