I don't think I have ever heard something as complicated as this procedure explained with such a straightforward manner. Great video.
Pretty happy I stumbled across your channel, just started as a tech for green iron a year ago. Have learned a ton, and can’t wait to learn more!
Thank you very much! It's a great career taking care of great people. Keep that green iron moving!
Thanks for the tip, ZK. I just learned a great way to install the pressure seal,, by folding it up like a Pretzel. I've been fighting with them for years.
That trick founding the seal will be remembered. Great music.
Well learnt something there! I have stripped down and resealed many rams on the farm but have never seen one of those with an internal locking ring. I wouldn’t have had a clue how to get that apart. I does seam unnecessarily complicated and impossible to get apart in 20 years when it’s all rust and no paint. Thanks for the video
They are a bitch to get apart when they get old and rusty ,the reason is it's faster and cheaper to groove the tube than cut a thread in it (I've been in hydraulics for 35 years)
i have seen those internal seals installed with special tools. nice to know you can do it with less. big fan of ZK!!!
Thanks man!
You make it look so easy
Hey thanks Z yeah I have rebuild a few of those on a skidder but I have never seen or tried that pretzel bend on that inner seal that was pretty cool I will remember that trick 👍
Great videos Z. Thank you for all your time and effort. inspiring. I’m considering another career at the moment and you’ve got me seriously thinking about being a agricultural tech. Thank you
Thanks for watching! My main purpose is to get people interesting in becoming a Deere tech. We need more technicians working in the Ag field.
Hi I'm enjoying your videos, I used to be an Electrical mechanical fitter in air craft and space satellite industry, and loved working hands on, 👍
Nice video thanks for sharing
You are a damn good master tech my Lord
I just subscribed and I actually start working for John Deere on the 8th.
Thank you! Congrats
Ah, a clean cylinder. I love when the inner bushing on the rod guide is rusted underneath and it takes an act of god to make the rod move. Have to go in with a grinding stone or small flap disk on a die grinder and get it all clean. I use the piston ring compressors that snap on to their own special pliers to seat the guide, or hose clamps which was the way I was taught. My favorite are the guides with wires and the tang is broke on them.
Good job, always enjoy 😉....
I'd recommend a brass drift and hammer for the gland removal/installation it's easy to ding the ram shaft with steel tools.
You can also soak your seal kit parts in warm water to help with installation
@7:30 that's more rubber than a prom after party 😂
Use a hose clamp to compress the big snap ring (C clip) for easy install. Also, a brass punch to drive the guide back into the housing for removal and install to prevent damage.
I’ve done that before and the clamp got into my outer o ring when it went in.
And I didn’t damage anything. You act like this is my first rodeo..
That big nut on the end, was it tightened to German specifications?
Guten Tight
You betcha
Muito bom parabéns aqui do brasil.
Your the master tech, 🙌
Well done
Getting the hidden snap ring back in by yourself can be a right bugger some times. I haven't watched anyone just shove on that piston seal either. The usual practice is to warm it up around here.
I’ve got thumbs of steel.
Someone’s been watching some VGG!! 😂🤣🤘🤘!!
He's my hero!
@@ZKMasterTech I get a huge kick out of him!!
@@clintking3985 yeah I have to pause the video to laugh lol
You used an orange fill piece to let the snap ring come out on disassemblely, does it stay for reassembly? If not, is there a chance of damage to the piston seals on assembly? Great video.
No you always remove that or the snap ring will not seat.
Never seen anybody make picking an o-ring out seem so cool
You are the best
Thanks man!
My 780 feeder housing keeps leaking down overnight. Could that be my problem? Great channel.
It’s probably your header lowering valve leaking.
What does the 90mm stand for? I’m needing to order new multi-coupler couplers due to leaking and that is one of the parameters? Great Video BTW!
That’s the inner diameter of the cylinder bore
Enjoy watching. Thanks
This is why I am a farmer and not a tech! Lol
How do you remember the order of all the o-rinds and seals? Also do some go in a certain direction? You refer to a tech manual or just years of experience? Love the channel!
Service manual the first time then I’m good.
Very cool. Thank you for the response.
That orange seal you installed to fill the gap to release the inside unit to pull out and rebuild… does that come in the seal kit from John Deere of is that a special seal for disassemble?
Yes it comes with the kit
How did you or, how do you bleed the air that was trapped i the cylinder? Or, does the system take care of that when you raise and lower the unit?
It bleeds itself when i cycle the feeder house up and down
👍🏻
No seal between the piston and the shaft where the nut goes on? If so is their ever leakage by the nut and cylinder becomes lazy?
Not once did I hear him say which direction the seals and bushings go in.
@ronannen1051 the same way they came out..
I just did this on a Ford POS.
(Boss is to cheap to buy a Deere, I've rebuilt this thing 4 times in 3 years)
Just unhook both lines that go to cylinder to drain fluid??
Unhooking that top line oil just keeps flowing. Does it stop eventually?? I see the hose in video just unhooked laying there with no oil flowing out of it.
And ORFS connections should have the O-Rings replaced EVERY time they are removed
Try Lixie mallets.
What's the name of the music?
Been wrenching for 26 years now, just can’t use gloves regularly.
Badly designed cylinder ,in fact a very old desine that was mainly done away with mostly years ago.
