The story behind the song couldn't fit better into the world of POWERWOLF: It's about a mysterious beast that killed countless people in the south of France at the end of the 18th century. The beast was never caught and there have always been many legends surrounding the events, up to the interpretation of the clergy, who saw the beast as ‘God's punishment’ or even as a ‘savior of mankind from the worldly and sinful existence.’”

@@aaronforsythe8556 you weren't completely off though, they are taking their powermetal persona games serious, to the point where even the media all over Europe and Wikipedia didn't question those fake persona and band history. In that, the vocalist was a romanian classical singer who just ended up in a german metal band (it worked so well because the vocalist IS classically trained and can fake a romanian-ish accent pretty convincingly). In reality, they are all german, plus a dutch drummer.

Then 250 years later some crazy dudes start singing songs about how that wolf was divine wrath made flesh because she were branded an enemy of god. Brutal, and metal as fuck.

Yes, Powerwolf continue to pick some hot irons and turn them into satirical church critics. Nicely done again. Though with their phenomenal compositions and often hillarious as well as driving lyrics it's often difficult to really appreciate the sternness of the original topics while headbanging hard 🤘😁🤘.

I read it was a stripped Hyena that had gotten loose and terrorized the French both scared, hungry, and most of all, in a place it didn't know, but do to this event it nearly led to the population of wolves to nearly go extinct
it's a big tale in my homeland, i'm very proud of that song but i'm sure that my granpa was not. When i was little they say that La bete du Gevaudand will come if ... , i was so scared back then.

Being french, that is a reference to the original (somewhat true) story of "la bete du Gévaudan" which is a real piece of french history
Well, technically that's not true.. many wolves were killed to build the Beast of Gévaudan story.
@William Tyndale There's an other theory saying the noble man that killed the beast was in reality its master because the beast didn't try to attack him and she let him kill her.
@William Tyndale In the movie Brotherhood of the Wolf they go with a similar interperetation, the beast is a lion or similar big wild animal (just equiped with some accessories) and is owned by a local noble.

But I wasn't saying the word "legend" in a meaning of illusion or myth but in a meaning of the fact that an incredibly tall beast wandered around where you are walking and even if it was around the Middle Age, you feel a sort of unsettling sentiment. You know? To walk with legend. And there, where I live, the Beast of Gévaudan is still keeping a part of mystery.

I agree man I don't like metal in general but when I discovered this band a year ago I fell in love with them. I am a rock listener but this band is pure talent.
There's many who couldn't handle the power. If this was suddenly mainstream, many heads would explode. You gotta work them up slowly so their brains can handle it. But yes I agree, their jams are righteous and deserve much more attention and acknowledgement.

The beast of Gevaudan and The Werewolf of Morbach are two of the coolest Werewolf stories I have recently read.
There is a place in Morbach near the Air Force Base where a candle burns as a memorial for the werewolf killed there; and if the flame ever goes out the beast will return.

@spudmonster100 C'est techniquement du folklore. La bête du Gévaudan est un mythe lancé par des hommes incultes au Moyen-âge dont les troupeaux se faisaient manger et qui avaient besoin d'un coupable. Une légende super classe, mais une légende
@@lobot8489 La bête du Gévaudan ne s'attaquait pas à des troupeaux mais aux hommes, elle a fait plus d'une centaine de morts durant le milieu du XVIIIème, soit vers la fin de l'époque moderne pas du moyen âge. La "bête" en tant que telle n'a jamais été formellement identifiée et les théories à son sujet se contredisent entre elles.

Some says the carcass of the beast was buried in the gardens of Versailles.
There is a very interesting french movie about that beast, it is called: “Le Pacte des Loups”. The english version is called: “Brotherhood of the Wolf”. Their take on the existence of that beast seems like a plausible explanation, but really, it could be anything. My father told me about that Gévaudan story when I was around 7 years old, a few nights before Halloween, we just finished carving our pumpkin and we were sitting in the dark, watching the light coming from the candle inside the pumpkin, while eating popcorns and potato chips. I remember clearly that one moment, it woke something inside me, I was scared to death but I was so intrigued by this, I started being obsessed by all things related to werewolves, vampires, ghost, ghouls, zombies, and the whole array of dark fantasy monsters. I still am today. I loved movies such as Sleepy Hollow.
