    This is the best video on RUclips related to this fan. I have been looking all over the place. Thank you sir!!

    No check to see if (during installation or after) the thing ingested a kids sock and was causing an impeding of the fan turning?

    Did you drill a hole at the bottom of the fan to drain moisture? Mine is installed horizontally too. I think it was in the instruction. I haven't done it on mine.

      @@sanchaofgo I did not. I do not believe it e as in my instructions. I followed them pretty closely.

    I never knew such a thing existed for a dryer. It looks a whole lot like the radon system I had installed on my previous house. The fan body, shape and size are all similar to that system. Same inlet and outlet diameter too.

      @stevewatr  7 лет назад +1

      Tech Gorilla I think fantech makes those radon fans too. we see a lot on houses here in the northeast.

    Damn. Unbelievable video - even using a mirror! We're having the same issue, the fan rapidly turning on and off. Our fan was incorrectly mounted right by the dryer, and it's years old, so I think we're going to get a new one and have it moved to the correct position further along the vent tube.

    Exceptionally well done. Video is excellent along with your very knowledgeable audio description of every detail. I have yet to install mine but learned a lot in the meantime. Thank you very much.

    Thank you for sharing. This is the only video i found. The unit failed after 5 years. Would you be able to made another video how to replace this unit than rewired. It may costs more $ but this requires a lot of mechanical work. 😊

    I'm betting either bad voltage regulator (or bad cap feeding it) or bad run cap on the motor (or loose/bad supply wiring) causing power to drop and the circuitry to loose voltage and hence resetting.
    Could also be a bad solder joint which is just barely letting enough power through to start the circuit, but fails when the relay energizes. That would be something that would get worse after the 2 months of use.

    So I did your tip about blowing into the line because my tan wasn’t coming on and I got it to come and it ran for awhile and stopped them came back on and the dry has been off the whole time. Lol but thank you for this video so helpful

    hey I know this video is old and who knows if you still respond but I have a question. first, thank you for sharing your knowledge working on the DBF110 and it's pressure switch.
    i have encountered the same problem and did try adjusting the switch to the two O'clock position without any change. fan still not coming on so I've reviewed the schematic and your video. my question - why not just run the three motor lines as follows:
    motor----------supply
    brown----------red
    blue-------------white
    black------------black

    • @stevewatr
      @stevewatr  2 года назад +1

      Its been a while, but I think you are asking why you cannot just power the motor off the pressure switch, bypassing the circuit board completely. The first problem is the contacts in the pressure switch are not rated to take the full current the motor will draw. It would not last long.. The other issue is there would be no "post flow".The circuitry is designed to run the motor a little longer after the pressure switch opens.

    • @TecraTube
      @TecraTube 2 года назад

      @@stevewatr yes sir, that's what I was asking. just power the motor directly from it's 3 leads to the AC line's 3 leads.

    • @stevewatr
      @stevewatr  2 года назад

      @@TecraTube since you completely bypassing the switch it should work fine. It will just run non stop when plugged in.

    Can you wire it to turn on without it turning on the dryer? My neighbours laundry smell keeps coming in my vent.

    • @stevewatr
      @stevewatr  2 года назад

      By design, this unit is supposed to only run when the dryer is running. There is a normal delay after the dryer shuts off before the booster shuts off. This is to clear the remaining humid air out of the dryer.

    Do I bring power to the pressure switch or motor first? The motor runs fine if I bypass the switch, it trips the breaker if I have power to both.

    • @christopherhuff9883

      I have the Spruce model and the switch just two male prongs in it.

    • @stevewatr

      On my unit the power to the blower does not run through the pressure switch. It cannot handle that much current. The pressure switch controls the circuit that drives a relay that powers the blower. Its hard to explain if you do not have an electrical background, but think of it like this. On a car, when you turn the key, the starter motor spins. But the power going to the starter is not running through the small wires and little switch you're turning with the key. The power from the battery to the starter goes through thick cables to the starter solenoid that has big contacts in it. Those contacts are closed by an electromagnet that is energized when you turn the key. Its a relay. Relays are used when you want to switch a higher powered device with a smaller switch or control. In the fantech, the pressure switch has very small voltage and current going through it that is sensed by the electronics. The electronics decide when to turn the blower on or off. That's why the blower still runs a few minutes after the dryer stops. Because a built in time delay in the electronics controller.

      @@stevewatr I have a an electrical background I’m a journeyman going for my masters soon, even my boss who’s been a master for years was perplexed like wtf is this. The old unit I demoed had a a circuit board in it with a step down to lower voltage for the pressure switch, this has two male prongs and that’s it with a small diagram showing a switch, the motor has a 120v inlet and I put a connector on it and 120 bolts to it, I mounted the pressure switch and put the air hose on, I just can’t find where the 12 bolts comes from, like I said my master was looking at and he said the same thing. Where is the low voltage come from. I installed the Spruce DB model.

    • @stevewatr
      @stevewatr  2 года назад

      @@christopherhuff9883 sounds like that is quite different from the one I have. My pressure switch is very small and low voltage....like s logic switch. So I would not be able to answer your question without seeing the circuit.

    I found out the same issue with mine it’s the same one I installed
    What I think is you have leak in you duck pipe so the air get tru it and turn it on
    Quick solution is just add a electric switch and turn it when you turn the dryer on
