The part at 1:10 where it cuts between the Backstreet Boys and Blink-182 parodying the Backstreet Boys is absolute genius!

1999 was the year I started listening to worldwide music consciously.
Kudos for the Windowlicker sample, Flat Eric and the Flaming Lips! 🔥
    Aphex dancing was so creepy!

But in all seriousness though, this one was really good! Keep up the fantastic work and I look forward to listening to your future mashups (As well as mixes for the 1st half of the 2000s if you start making them)! 💙🎵🎧
It is also official, ladies and gentlemen: The Hood Internet has now made a mashup for each year of the final 2 decades of 20th century + 1979! And between them and Dj Earworm, there is also now a mashup for 1979, 1989, 1999, 2009, & 2019!

    1999...
The Y2K Scare was on everyone's mind, the Pokemon and Dragonball Z craze sweeps North America, Nickelodeon introduces SpongeBob SquarePants, meanwhile, over at Cartoon Network, The Powerpuff Girls begins its second season.
Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Inspector Gadget, Doug's 1st Movie, Toy Story 2, Pokemon: The 1st Movie, and Wild, Wild West are in theaters.
Matt Groening's Futurama airs on Fox.

    • @chrisrj9871

Dragonball Z started in the States in 1996, one year after Dragonball; I used to watch it in high school.
Also in theaters: The Sixth Sense, The Matrix, The Blair Witch Project, South Park: B/L/U, Disney's Tarzan..
Of course the Columbine shooting happened... People in Seattle protested the WTO... Europe switches to the Euro currency... Also Family Guy, Angel, and Sega Dreamcast.
      It was pretty eventful, indeed.

"And we're gonna party like it's 19- Hold up, it is!" would have been a great call-back to the song "1999" by Prince.
Also no Ricky Martin, which is surprising, since he was ALL OVER that year.
Still a fantastic mix, and the April Fools video shows he knows what we're saying, so...

That's from a music video parodying the Gap Commercials, not an actual Gap Commercial. I just can't remember what it was.

It actually would've been pretty cool if they threw in music from other bits of popular culture like commercials, TV shows, and video games. But it might get pretty messy.

This April Fools video wasn’t as good as the other one, but when are you going to release the real video for 1999?

and what a memorable 12/31/99 it was!
Every station was covering every New Year's (New Millennium's) celebration around the world, we saw Asia, the Middle East, Europe, New York, then eventually Seattle when it struck us!
I was worried earlier that day though, I used to have chronic nosebleeds (which I know is gross but they've stopped...), and I had one that day because it was actually quite warm and sunny that December day for some reason (global warming, probably). I was coming home after renting Disney's Tarzan for Game Boy at the video store... my Disney fandom was waning around that time honestly. And there was an idiot on the road and my mom was driving us, "does Y2k affect people's brains, too?!". Luckily Y2k obv'ly didn't happen.
Anyway, it was an amazing day, indeed!
