- In this episode Darren takes us to the Stags Head in Dublin to try some Powers Gold Label. Along the way he discusses why he thinks it’s the perfect whiskey to order in a pub.
He also mugs a woman.
I don't drink, at all, but still enjoy this because it's Darren.

Good video. But we need to see more of Gráinne. Darren is the whiskey expert, but the channel needs more than that. Bringing in Gráinne was a stroke of genius. I'm glad she thought of it.
Really good quality! Congrats Darren! Maybe Gráinne can turn into a character arc instead of getting mugged, maybe she mugs you and drinks your whiskey?!

Seattle-ite here, with more experience with Scotch than Irish whiskey, but with a local burger-and-whiskey bar having half price Irish shots on Sundays, been loving the experience of a decent Irish lately. Ive not seen Powers at the bar, so I might suggest it. From the descriptions given, Id love it!

I have just watched both of your videos, and really enjoyed them. The bit with Gráinne was inspired, and I was pleased to see her in the next one as well. Looking forward to more of your videos.
Love the introduction. Unpretentious presentation mixed with a healthy smattering of Irish humor (Dogging the label for its color was brilliant). Bonus points for a Gráinne appearance. Mayhaps we see other 'Tryers in the future?
The plan is to have a few cameos in future videos, so watch this space!

Great new series here I am thinking. I will happily pay for your tour of our local distillery here in Victoria BC if you ever get over the pond on a vacation. It won 2023 Worlds best Pot Still whiskey at the World Whisky Awards.....They have an entire line of Irish style Whisky's, being made by a transported Scot in Canada. They had Dr Jim Swan set up their aging process. He was the best in the world before his passing shortly after getting Macaloney's set up.
You won’t believe it but I was sitting next to that Scot at the world whiskey awards when they won! Lovely people, would love to try their whiskey.
Grainne's bit had me spittin' out my perfectly good Power's Gold Label (not Gold Label) Whiskey! LOL Actually I don't drink whiskey..or alcohol, like at all for that matter, but I did laugh heartily at that little surprise as well as throughout. This was a great vid Darren! I can't wait for more!

Got introduced to Powers at Muldoon's (RIP) and it's been my day whiskey ever since. Reliably tasty and nice for when you just want to sit for a while with a pal or a book.
They need to release a Red Label version with a gold color label now.

There is rather the big 4 of Irish whiskey; Paddy's, Powers, Jamesons, and the Dew. Dew is my go to, but I am afraid Powers is rather at the ass end of the quartet for myself. Id call it a very fine day to cavort about Dublin with Darren and trying the Waters of Life at every Pub along the lanes. Bon Voyage on your new endeavor Darren, I'll be popping in and keeping tabs.

Great episode! Sadly, the Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) in Virginia stopped selling Gold Label about a year ago. I used to like it a lot. I'll pick up a bottle of Paddy's ever so often just because it seems to be a great value for the price of it here. Great video, definitely looking forward to more. Thanks!
Powers gold and their rye are my go to drinks lately. Good flavors for the prices.

We ”only” get their Three Swallow Single Pot Still bottle from the monopoly here in Finland. Might try it yet if I stumble over it in my local whisky bar. Great video.
Powers Rye is one of the most interesting rye whiskies I've ever tried. It's not as spicy as we are used to in the US. The flavor is very interesting.

Never had this in centre Canada (winnipeg). was exposed only to rye whisky’s as a child (bad parents) which I hated and Ballantines/Johny Walker’s Red, which smelt nice to me at least.
Def sold me on the channel in advance.

I managed to miss this very first one, so I only saw it a few days ago. But I was in my local liquor store here in Maryland today looking for something new, and there was a single bottle left of this for $30. Very different flavors going on here. But I think I like it. Even though the gold label thing is a lie. Thanks for picking a good one.

You can get that for 30-35$ here near austin,tx and its a solid whiskey for the price. Well worth the couple extra bucks over jameson.

Bushmills 10 is the perfect starter single malt in my opinion. Reasonably priced, generally widely available, and a good introduction into their malt range.
