Nice work man. Im wanting to do this for a chair I built. If both back and front are same width. I can just start weaving all four sides from the very start right?
Thanks for a very clear video. A couple of suggestions: instead of hammering in tacks, what about using a telephone cable stapler, shooting U-shaped staples in. I use two staples for each tack point, and it holds the tension nicely. Also, you're right: a spring clamp is GREAT for holding the rush in place while doing other things, like knotting.
In weaving the rush I am having problems with the rush unraveling as I work. I keep having to wind it back and sometimes it breaks. What am I doing wrong? The rush is very wet as I have just removed it from the water....could it be too wet? Is it possible I have purchased inferior rush?
I would have liked to know more about materials. I only have 1/2 inch upholstery nails, so information about the type of nail would be greatly appreciated. Which type of nail did you use? thank you!
I dont think you answer these questions, but here goes. I have started rushing a chair for the first time. I find after soaking the rush for 20 minutes, it unravels quite a bit. It looks like you are rushing this chair with dry rush. Is that your technique or can that be done successfully.
Twenty minutes is way too long for soaking. You need to soak fir no longer than 5 minutes. The rush will absorb too much moisture if soaked longer and this will cause it to unravel.

Your knots will be smaller and less obvious if you tie square knots rather than granny knots. Stronger, too.

Your rush is way too wet, do not soak for longer than three minutes.
Now you could be making money on affiliate links to the tools and supplies you are using. Especially the rush, nails and right card board.
Very clear directions and good views of all the steps. Attempted other sites and this was the best, by far.
Thank you
