My cousins husband had one of these. Same color too. He and his father rebuilt the 312 Y-block and it would spin the tires with a little pedal. I loved that car. Dual Hollywoods.
No hydraulics. 9 servo motors that had to operate flawlessly in proper sequence or it would jam. And they did quite often, leaving you with a stuck top that usually had to be fixed at a dealership. Neat when it worked- but....
WHAT BEAUTIFUL CAR, 🥰😘😍, This is REMARKble AMAZING, WHY THE HELL DOESNT FORD, CHYRSLER, AND GM MAKE THESE TYPES OF CARS ANY MORE, JUS SAD, SAD, SAD, 😭😭😭😭😭😭
most people don't know is that that roof weighs almost 500 pounds and that front part that folds away and goes down into the trunk yeah watch your head it'll take you where I can give you a nice knot I found that out the hard way my dad has a 57 retractable his is black and has a 312 v8 all original with 68,000 miles
They could do that so perfectly 65 years ago and they can't do it today ???? I hear even Mercedes- Benz has problems with their retractable hard tops !!! Haven't engineers learned anything in 65 years ????
@@premierauctiongroup7419 I was looking for a comment like Lance's and an answer to that question, Thanks. Wish they made more of these. Wish stuff like the old 60s and 70s Chevy Impalas had versions like this. Also El Camino hardtop convertible, there's a bunch that would of been cool. I don't care for soft top convertibles but hard to convertibles are awesome. This is impressive and BEAUTIFUL
If it doesn't run, baffle them with bullshit. A paxton supercharged 312 Ford couldne beat a mechanically inject Chevrolet at the 1957 Daytona speed week beach runs?
Is what a beautiful work of art
That was way ahead of it's time. I would love to have a car like that someday

Unmatched 50s Ford creativity
It's perfect. An actual hardtop convertible. Talent at a very high level. You get a standing ovation from me. Thank you
Ford made them from 57 to 59 it's not a custom top.
What an amazing engineering design for this top!!❤️❤️
Love seeing other skyliners. Need to finish restoring mine
Better than anything today because it still works 💪
57-8-9 Fords. Had one in 72. Even then, traffic would slow when the top went up or down. Amazing engineering for the 50's!
Es una pieza de arte. 100% excelente.
They were beautiful cars
Это Бомба 💣! Прекрасный автомобиль 🤩!
My dream car❤❤❤
Bring this back to 2023.!!! 👍
It's been around sense this 1958 Fords been around. MB, had one just a few years ago.
Beautiful job and design
Incredible.....
Such a great car. I love the way it's a hard top that retracks and hides away.
Nice to see one of these again thank you 😎😎👍
Incredible engineering.
Beautiful design to complete the operation. It uses I think 12 or more
Motors. It's crazy
It's perfect.... The LOVE of old car trucks you name it.
AWESOME ENGINEERING JOB FOR ALL THAT'S GOING ON TO MAKE THAT HAPPEN. HYDRAULICS AND OLD RELAY LOGIC WORKING IN UNISON!!

Learn something new everyday!!
Sick robo-roof! The Ford Motor Company sure was ahead of their time, weren't they?
Ford really took a dump on the convertible competition with this option 👍👍👍
That is luxury at its best.
That never gets old
Beautiful car !!
Cars were so much cooler back in those days! Imagine what it would cost to build something like this now!!!
So cool wow love this wow cool 🌝👍👍👍
57 to 59 !
perfect years for U.S.Cars !!
AMAZING! I'm not a fan of soft top convertibles AT ALL. I like hard tops. So having a hard top convertible is best of both. This is AMAZING
Nice.
Almost as nice as the 58 Edsel with tela touch drive they'll know you arrived in the car of the future today! XD
65 years old and still a better skyline than a Nissan
She purrrddy.
very Cool. It's even more impressive in person. My buddies dad was know for being able to fix the electric 'glitches' these sometimes had.
Wow, I thought 1959 was the only year they had that!🤷♂️🙋♂️

I heard that there was a half MILE of wiring making that top work. Mind boggling.
Damn HTD 🔥👌👌
Awesome car
That was so crazy cool.
Fingers crossed every time?
That’s clean as hell man
Lindo demais
The people that bought these spent half their life at the dealership.
Oh Bullshit
MY Neighbor BOUGHT ONE NEW IT WAS RED❤❤😂😂 BEAUTIFUL CAR ❤😂🎉
i love that !!
but buy bigger white walls !!
I want one 😫
Nice
My brother has several
I don't think Detroit has the brains to do that again...style or engineering
Ok it works thats the work order tell the customer to come get it lol
Way cool!!!
Where did this quality go? People cared then
Sweet !

Bad ass
How many solenoids must that top utilize?❤
Muy avanzado, pero imposible de comprar en su epoca.
Sera que eso hizo no se fabricara en cantidades grandes.
So that means there's no junk in yo trunk 🤔
I had a blue one back in the 90's. You can still fit 2 suitcases in the trunk with the top down.
So is this real, did ford engineers really build this? Or is this a bad ass resto? Thanks.
Hi Lance! Ford made these Hardtop Retractables 1957 thru 1959. Pretty cool and advanced for the time period.

Igual esta horrible 😅!
Sweet ride.
