This dispute also seems to be happening because the city isn’t investing enough tax dollars into renovating public parks throughout the city. Maybe if they raised taxes on the super wealthy who live there, cut the nearly $6 billion they spend on NYPD who do nothing but harass homeless people and teenagers, they could put millions into renovations for all the parks in NYC. That would lead to more longterm jobs for care and maintenance, and ensure everyone in every neighborhood has a great public playground to enjoy.

Up until Recently the Trinity school which is right across the street from the park had an agreement with the management company for their students to use the park during recess and for some classes. Of course i wont allow anyone but my family and friends inside as thats my own private space and i choose to make use of it how i want to . Now if i did own an apartment complex with a playgrund i would allow everyone to enjoy the space . Lol yall keep forgetting that if NYCHA is private property they still are situated in areas where the public is easily accesible .

Because the park is for the residents. If it were a public park it would be managed by the parks dept, not the housing authority.

Nope, you're just plain wrong. Its not a public park, its a private park on a complex owned by the city managed by a private company. Which is why they are allowed to put up fences and signs that restrict access to the residents.
A park operated and maintained by TAXPAYERS is a PUBLIC park. Especially if that park is located in the middle of a taxpayer funded complex where taxpayers are subsidizing the rents of the residents of said complex.

That’s cute… Doesn’t change the fact that taxpayers are still subsidizing the rents of those tenants who are calming ownership over that taxpayer funded park.
Want a park to yourself? give up your taxpayer funded NYCHA dwelling and move into a private complex where you have to pay a full rent that goes to funding a private park within that complex. Then those residents will have every right to deny entry to outsiders.
@@michaelcastro1470 The resident only signs are still there, the housing authority has confirmed its private property restricted to residents only. Up until Recently the Trinity school which is right across the street from the park had an agreement with the management company for their students to use the park during recess and for some classes. They needed that agreement because the park and the entire housing complex is private property. You can argue all you want about taxpayer funding etc , you'll still be completely wrong. This is a public housing complex that is 'private property' where access can be restricted to residents only.

Ummm tax payers who live in the surrounding neighborhoods should have access to the playground too. Are they kidding by putting a restriction. This isn’t a gated community, where the residents payed for this to be build and maintained.
