Mostly all facts. Great video. I played way too many hours I ended up becoming the number 1 ranked skate2 player in the world. When they setup demos at events I would play against people in a Spot battle to showcase the game.
That's sad asfuck, I'm really bummed out to learn about the whole situation, prison isnt the answer but holy fuck how do you live with yourself? TK was one of my favorite skaters growing up, always who I played in TH:UG
I'm pretty sure the reason Ray Barbee's 360 No-comply animation looked so good is because it was mocapped. The game can't really predict if the player wants to do a straight no-comply or a 360, so it just mashes the animations together. Of course, the real-life version of the trick that was mocapped looked much smoother.
So many memories unlocked. Loving and breaking this game with my good friends and crew mates at the time. Happy to say I learned a few things today and you did an amazing job on this video man! Bravo Dize!
There were also a whole slew of realistic techniques that were pretty much REQUIRED if you ever frequented the SKATE forum back in the day. These were kind of the opposite of the big points and air time type glitches most players may have seen. Low pops true switch grind combo glitches pre-trick stance set up ...to name just a few. These were so prevalent that they basically added Hardcore mode to accommodate them.

I LITERALLY just popped Skate 2 in today instead of playing Skate 3. Wow, what a difference. I have a lot more fun playing Skate 2. Much better map, better soundtrack, way better ragdoll physics, and funny security guards. I'll be playing 2 for a while before going back to 3. Great vid btw. You put in a lot of work.
@@romanski5811 No bias. I probably have a few hundred hours in Skate 2. Just haven't played it on Xbox one. Found out that they finally made it backwards compatible, so I'm finally playing it with 60fps.
@@barsaf9989 So if you're playing Skate 2 just as frequently as Skate 3, with no significant pauses between them, then why did you say ”Wow, what a difference“? This indicated to me that you haven't played Skate 2 for a while and picked it up today in a long time, thus everything seeming new again. By "novelty" I didn't mean to imply that you haven't played Skate 2 for a couple hundred hours. I just meant that not playing it for a while will yield a slightly different judgement than having played both games frequently back to back. If everyday you alternate between them, thus ensuring an equal amount of play time and spacing, then there is no novelty bias. But if you play one game for quite a while, then the other game for quite a while and so on, then each time there's a small bias toward the game that hasn't been recently saturated.
I play 2 way more than 3 and have for years. The only reason I play 3 is for park creator and hardcore mode. If only 2 had park creator I would literally never touch 3. In my opinion 95% of everything about skate 2 is better than skate 3 with the exceptions of what I mentioned and the offboard physics.
The "Weird No Comply" can also refer to the "Yes Comply" that your character does in one of the cutscenes, I think it's the one where you meet Rob Dyrdek and Jason Dill trying to film the Alien Workshop video, the Yes Comply is a No Comply but with the backfoot, so the frontfoot pops the tail whilst your backfoot hops off the floor, he does it in one of the cutscenes in the game
The spot underneath the neck that you cant break is called the chest 😂 also at 22:06 that hat was made popluar by the music group “devo” and they wore it in the “whip it” music video
34:07 Hey everyone, I still exist if anyone was curious. I knew there weren’t a ton of people that knew how to do the slingshot, but I never really realized back then that fun little video I made was one of the rare video depictions of the glitch.
Been playing skate 1 a whole lot the past year and conveniently started playing 2 about a week before this was uploaded. Been playing it since it came out when I was 10 and so many things in this video surprised me. Great video dize
Oh yeah, I had seen those old videos of "the lost launch glitch" about a year ago and really tried to re-create that, but could never figure it out. Really sick that people found out how to do it again!
The lost launch glitch is what I knew as the slingshot glitch back in the day. I played with a pretty niche group in ranked S.K.A.T.E, and people would often do it to set tricks on certain spots. I was surprised to see it so low on the ice berg - I’d include it with kush pops! It was the hardest technical glitch to master. You said to leave a comment so there ya go. I loved this video so much. Skate 2 is my favorite game of all time. I spent countless hours on ranked S.K.A.T.E online and doing the skydive glitch. Thank you for making this! The ranked S.K.A.T.E scene would’ve been cool to cover too. There’s so many places to break the barrier allowing you to set tricks outside of the original boundaries to include the GIRL skate spot. (You can speed glitch over to the skatepark and do a kush pop) FS kush pops let you set tricks like a 900 triple kickflip off a curb. BS to mute at the end with a tweak to register an extra spin. You could also dog piss just before you hit the ground to set ridiculous tricks, but it was hard to do consistently. Like others said, so many unlocked memories. There’s no game I played more as a kid. Skate 2 is the best of the 3.
I love Skate 2 so much, so this video brings me a lot of joy. Me and an friend played hundreds of hours in spot battles. We developed an intricate way for matches consisting of a best of three of different maps, with five rounds on each map. We smoked a lot of weed while doing this of course. Good times...
skate 2 online was about as much fun as skate 3 was. In skate 2 people had some crazy glitching like kush pops and other glitches that would make online so much fun
A lot of cool points in here. One that you didn't mention, is that you always hear people wishing Skate 2 had a better replay editor, not knowing that it did in fact have an advanced filmer pack DLC that made the replay editor the same as what it is in Skate 3 which they removed from purchase. I'm very thankful I bought it and still have it. I think it was a way of encouraging people to buy skate 3 for the additional features - even if skate 2 already had it. Though this might be my cynical interpretation. Love that you interviewed Cuz, would love to see the whole interview.
Such an amazing video! I have an another theory that Eric and Joel (characters in Skate. 1) lost or killed in Skate 2 Eric and Joel does not appear in Skate 2, and his absence is not explained. He may have been killed during the earthquakes, like fellow amateur skateboarder Fabio. Fabio is revealed to have died between the events of Skate and Skate 2.

There's another Burnout Paradise connection: The in-game radio dj "DJ Atomica" sometimes talks about skater friends in San Vanelona, at least the female voice in the german version does. I found a SSX 3 reference, but sadly no video with the Skate reference, but I know it for a fact. Being a fan of both games, I loved that!
27:24 those early announcement trailers are often used for making the people in the gaming industry aware that they are working on the game, as a way to hire talent
I found this qlitch a while back: U can do backflips and frontlips with front foot or back foot without actually holding the grab so it looks kinda like snowboard flip: When jumping in to flip u must first press and hold x or square right before u press the grab. then in the air u hold the grab button and x or square. the timing between pressing x and and grab is very small, but if u do the combination quick enough u should end up with nice looking flip while holding front foot off the board without grab.
The "Dropping the Deuce" teaser was released like most other trailers of the time - it was sent out to game websites which posted it themselves. Think Gametrailers and IGN and whatnot. Nowadays most of those hosted versions will have disappeared, and I don't think many people thought it noteworthy enough to throw it on youtube.
18:57 the industrial district in skate 3 has parts identical to vancouver, much more so than skate 2. Of course theres hastings bowl but the buildings also are identical to ones in granville island
