Hey Mary… This little note is a copy & paste message…. For those who don’t yet know, me and my family are moving from one large property, to another… this means we are sorting thru several sheds, shipping containers one huge house and 2 small ones… where we have accumulated 20 odd years of ‘stuff’… we are having to build fences to move our horses, erect sheds on the new property and the list goes on… we are also having one humongous garage sale this weekend. So it’s all hands on deck… and I’m feeling really overwhelmed! So, if it seems like I’m absent… that’s because I am!! 😂 Please don’t think that I’m just choosing not to watch you guys… there is just soooo much going on, and so much to do!! I will watch as many as I can… and I will try hard to catch up on those I can’t… but, if I can’t completely catch up, I will, at the very least, resume following y’all just as soon as I can!! I have NOT deserted you… I promise!! This comment may seem stupid to a lot of people, especially viewers that don’t know me… but, this is the only way I can make contact with a lot of you and I just hate the thought that you think I’ve just stopped following you… so this is how I decided to let you know! Lotsa, and lotsa luv, Nat. ♥️♥️🇦🇺 Ps… I don’t know if you’ve already replied to this question in an earlier comment, but I was hoping I could get your email address, as there’s something I’d like to chat about? ♥️♥️🇦🇺

Thank you Beverly🥰🤗 your welcome. Im not sure where the misinformation came from but I've been asked about this multiple times so thought Id better clarify it. 😊
Love the color. The alcohol inks are there, they have just dispersed around to the edges. Like someone else said, it looks like fireworks. Beautiful coasters, Mary. 😊❤
Very interesting results! I love the color and thank you for the epoxy lesson! I can’t seem to use the pump ones, it is easier for me to pour because of my arthritis. I don’t know why. 💕
Hi Mary, I know you were a little unsure(?), when you de-moulded your coasters, however the alcohol ink effect, reminded me of fireworks. Then when you added the acrylic pen in the lines, it was as though I was looking through a window, watching the firework display. All in all, I think the effect was great. What is the cure time on the Let’s Resin Table Top Epoxy, please? Not that we can get this product in Australia. Much love from Aus 🙏♥️💐💐
Thank you Fiona, I think its because I expected to see all that white I added all clumped on the bottom, lol then to see it not I was shocked. I definitely want to try these again. 🥰🤗
Tim, I was/am a bit intimidated by these inks, they are not as cut and dry as I thought. Need to do some messing with them. Cant wait to see what you do with them😊🤗
I don’t know if u caught it or not & mentioned it in the beginning but u completely cut out the footage where u actually demonstrate the inks & how u applied them. Did u just drop them in or did u add them to resin? It just jumps to u back coating. Also was ur mica powder opaque? If so, that’s why u hardly noticed the inks how u were expecting. Basically u would use them with micas to achieve an alternative color. Hope that makes sense. Just like adding mica to paint will give u an original color in that color family. Basically u did a petrie effect but u couldn’t see the results Cz of ur base color. Thank u for speaking on the differences between the epoxy resin & casting epoxy resin Cz I’ve tried to understand what was different about them for months and finally got annoyed & ordered 1 of each & figured 1 is for deeper pours n the other more for mold castings, but there was no literature anywhere to distinguish between them. This is gonna help so many artist it’s unreal!!!❤
Im sorry about the cut out, that was not intended at all, my editing software crashed three times while I was editing and I thought I had that part fixed. As I cant preview the video before I export, which is stupid. But yes I did drop in the inks and my color is opaque. Im just not sure about these inks and what is the best way to use them. You are welcome on the clarifying the two epoxy resins. I have heard way to much wrong info being told about these two products and I made sure my info was correct by clarifying it with Lets Resin and they said I was 100% correct.
Mary I learn so much from you. Maybe a crazy question but what does it mean to measure by volume. Just beginning to learn. I have been ordering things to get me started. Thank you
Patty, measuring by Volume means by oz, ml, cups, grams in equal parts. Measuring by weight can be the same except you are using a scale to weigh both parts equally. No question is dumb, or crazy on this channel. I am here to help anyone that needs it. Hope this answers you ?🤗🥰 if not let me know😊
@@dorsey_loves_dps4276 Im sorry, I didn't cut it out, my editing program did. It crashed three times during my edit process. I never edit out those parts so definitely no to answer your question on future videos. 😊
@@resinmeup Hey Mary, I wanted to do some research before answering u. From everything I read, all alcohol inks will fade over time. There are several variables such as brand, exposure to uv light & even humidity. Even sealing them in resin doesn’t stop them from fading. It may slow it down, but eventually even pieces that remain indoors & sealed in resin will begin to lose their vibrancy. They don’t always provide a lightfast rating on alcohol inks, but it’s possible u may have a brand that does & can easily look up how it ranks. Most of the literature recommended u do ur own blue wool scale test. Basically u are applying the ink to 2 individual surfaces weather yupa paper (which is made for alcohol inks), or make 2 small resin pieces. Place one inside a dark place that gets zero light contamination & the other leave out in a window sill that gets sun light. After 3 months pull out the piece that stayed in the dark & compare it to the one exposed to the uv light. Depending on how much it faded will give u a true light fast test that u can then keep a record of, for your future art work. I hope I provided u with some useful knowledge. Enjoy the rest of your day!
Hi Mary, I’m not sure what occurred but I responded to ur question earlier but it seems to have been removed!? I had shared that I did some research to ensure I gave u the most accurate info. regarding ur question. What I found out is that all alcohol inks fade over time. There are several factors to this of course but a few to mention are whether they are dye based or pigment based, either way, neither are considered archival. Other factors include humidity, brand, & type of sealant used. Epoxy resin seems to be the highest quality of protection however it was stated that even when sealed with epoxy resin that contains uv protectant, the inks will still fade over time. The literature I read specifically about light fasting & alcohol inks stated the best method of determining this would be what they call “a blue wool scale test”. It is taking the specific alcohol inks u want to test & drop them onto yupa paper which is made especially for alcohol inks, or in ur case, into 2 small resin pieces. Store one away in a dark location that has no light contamination & place the other in a sunny windowsill. Let sit for 3 months & then compare them side by side. It was recommended then that u keep a record of the brand & specific amount of drops used, so u have a future reference to gauge whether u think they’re appropriate for the project ur creating. From what I understand, there is not a lightfast system in place that is currently used for alcohol inks. This was said to be changing & there are companies working on new range of products that will allow them to withstand fading over time. If u would like I can send u the site I sourced my info from & also found a RUclips video that went into great detail as well, however that video is 6 years old. I hope this finds its way to u this time & wish u a wonderful remainder of ur day.
@@AllysonWonderlandOfResin thank you for the info. I have read that same info after hearing so much negative info on YT about alcohol inks. I have done that test and actually spoke about it in a video way back, showing my results comparing two different inks. I do agree not all inks are created equal and some are just not of good quality, but there are some on the market now that do hold their color longer with more light exposure. But thank you again for the info. I do alot of research myself, so you must be alot like me😂

These are the metallic inks, do you think they would fade?
