Ashley since you said GOLD BUCKLE on a brown double monk strap shoe is ACCEPTABLE does that mean we should just buy a brown double monk strap w/ a silver buckle? What if we have lots of GOLD accessories & wear a GOLD WATCH, ring, & bracelet or maybe a dual-tone watch (silver & gold) ?
Hey Ashley, please what websites do you recommend I Check out in my quest for some nice leather double monk strap shoes? Also, what's your take on Monk Straps vs. Derby's; which is more dressier. Thanks in advance. Nice informative video as always.
Hi, great video again. I think your shoe suggestion should include more super high end shoes or European Shoemaker's like carmina, Corthay, Enzo bonafe, John lobb, etc
Carmina is also a great brand as alot of their lasts tend very chiseled. However most shoe companies have narrow width sizing and should be able to accommodate the right fit for you but it's also very important to keep an eye out for the shape of the shoe last as it can effect your overall fit if widths tend to be an issue.
It must be nice for men who live in climates where you can wear these kind of shoes during the winter. If you tried to do it in Scandinavia, your toes would turn blue... :-)
I was going to email you, but I picked up a pair of Carlyle's like you recommended but in NYC I am worried they will be destroyed by the horrible side walks and my tendency to wear out the toe and heel areas of my shoes. What are your opinion on toe taps and heel caps? I contacted AE and they said they could do it back at the factory for $60 for front and rear? Or just wear the shoes (still brand new) and then have it added when resoled in the future? Thank you.
Hello, if you tend to wear out those areas I would absolutely recommend adding toe taps! Bringing them back to the manufacturer would do the best job, however if you have a reputable cobbler locally they should be able to do a good job as well. Some people get heel caps to protect their heels, however this depends on preference as some people don't like the sound it makes when they take steps. If your shoes are goodyear welted, they can always be resoled when they've been fully worn out. But adding toe taps will definitely increase the longevity of them. Hope this helps!
Thank you that is exactly what I did from Allen Edmonds. Ordered a new pair and had them do it. Returned the original pair. Though what was pointed out by support the third time was that each pair fits slightly different and I shouldn't blindly buy a pair. Each pair should be tried on then additional things such as toe taps put on since they are made by hand.
Great video! I really enjoy how much progress your channel makes, lately! Just one thing, you talk a little bit like you're in a hurry right now, which is kind of stressing . But never mind, you are awesome! Sorry for my bad English skills and greetings from Germany (we are kinda all over the internet :D)
Why are dress shoes so painful when you try them on? I’ve worn dress shoes all my life but I’ve cut back on buying them regularly because I rarely put one on in the store and say, Yes, stylish and comfortable. I’m not expecting running shoe comfort but I find a lot of dress shoes cut the back heel. What’s going on, wrong brands, need to spend much more (current spend $60-$120)? I know you can break in a shoe but that seems like a gamble if the shoe is uncomfortable at the store.
I think you should try a brand like Carmina (they got a lot of different form), and try shoes with different last (form). You need to find the right last for your foot and it will be ok. Honestly it took me years to understand and find the right form for my foot but i did it.
I hated boxy square toed shoes when they were fashionable, and I will always hate them! I was so happy when people finally grew a brain and realized how ugly those shoes were and still are! But enough ranting for now. As for my policy with dress shoes, loafers during the warm months, and oxfords during the cold months.
You're a gift sent from heaven! Thank you for this series

Great video as usual, Ashley! Just like quick question: What brands would you recommend for a narrow footed guy such as myself?

Well made video👍
When you say dark wash jeans, you mean a raw pair of jeans, or a normal, pre-washed jeans that has a darker finish but still with some fades?
Thank you
Myself I own calfskin and suede single monk strap dress shoes in my footwear wardrobe
Dark color video with dark color shoes?

I’m terrified of wearing leather shoes when it rains. Won’t it ruin them?
I like her ....
