    When you install the top ring in the sink, you should position the ring so you can read the words on the ring. It looks more professional.

    Mahalo uncle!! My landlord doesn't want to replace or send someone to fix my disposal so i found your video and just installed one all by myself!! I never knew that there was a powercord let alone an entire outlet at the bottom of my sink 😅😅!! I truly appreciate you for sharing your knowledge!! I hope you have a blessed day!!

      Uncle so happy to know I could be of help. Uncle is a licensed Real Estate Agent and it’s your right to have your landlord or Realtor to repair the broken disposal. Unless you broke it intentionally than you have to pay for the repair. However, if it’s a matter of Wear and Tear due to aging, than the owner or realtor should be responsible. Hope that helps. Mahalo and Aloha my friend!

      @@unclejrsdiy Thanks! I got the disposal installed. Only issue I ran into was a leak because I didn’t pay attention to keeping the mounting plate screws even with each other. So I torqued them evenly and the leak went away. Thanks again for such a great how to demo!!!

    Is this the new Lift & Latch setup? Total bs on the part of Insinkerator, I've done over one hundred of these over the years, the lower ring didn't spin, thought it was built on a Friday before a three day weekend, and inspector 12 was asleep at the wheel. Tried using the lower ring from the old disposer, but it won't fit. Had the drain assembly already installed with silicone. Took the disposer back to the Depot
    to exchange it for a new one. The guy at the return desk told me to get a new one. Grabbed another one and opened the box to check the rotation of the lower ring and take out the drain assembly and put in the box of the unit I just returned. WTF, the ring doesn't spin on this one either. Go grab another one, same thing. So, I decide to read the instruction sheet, same old same, except for the very end about lifting the disposer with two hands and twisting it in place and then locking it place with the wrench. Well it's getting late the customer needs his sink back and I don't have time to go to Lowe's to get the same Badger 500 I put in for some one two weeks earlier. So I grab the second box I opened and go to have another try at mounting the disposer.
    I lift the disposer using two hands to twist it place till it locks. Try to turn the disposal so it aligns with the drain trap, but the lower ring starts turning as well, I've applied plumbers silicone grease to the gasket like I always do so I can turn the disposer to the position I want. I make an index mark on the bottom of the sink were I want the lower disposer ring to be, remove the disposer for the third time, loosen the three screws on the drain assembly, rotate the upper ring to where I want it to be, re-tighten the screws, and for the final time I 'Lift & Latch' the disposer in place so it aligns with the drain.
    Thank you to the idiot at Insinkerator for making this job so 'much easier'. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

    Are all sink drain openings the same diameter and will the mounting flanges of all models of residential Insinkerators fit all residential sinks?

    • @unclejrsdiy
      @unclejrsdiy  10 месяцев назад +1

      Yes all standard sink openings are the same. However I did experience seeing a larger disposal and sink drain in a commercial establishment. I have never tho , installed one.

      HI Andrea, so sorry for the late reply. I have been rehabbing and injury to my hand. But make sure the wires going to the disposal are wired correctly. Whites go together , black go together and most importantly make sure you attach the ground wire. Hope this helps.

    • @unclejrsdiy
      @unclejrsdiy  Год назад

      Hi Tam Thank you for watching my video. Yes, on most of the locking ring it is hard to unlock or even locking the ring in place. My best advice is first be very careful you don't hit your hand while trying to remove the ring. Try and use something long that gives you leverage to unlock the ring. Hope this helps. If not, lmk and Uncle will do I video just for you. Aloha!
