Thanks for taking the time and expense to produce this series on the Parker shotgun. The camera, lighting, sound and post production is first rate. Larry's presentation is good enough for prime time TV, the gun is beautiful and watching a master gunsmith like Larry is both fun and inspirational.
If videos like this one were were shown to more people who've never caught the "gun bug" it'd trigger a higher level of understanding than what is seen on certain reality television series.
I've enjoyed all of Larry's gunsmithing projects, including the Parker Project. If all you've ever seen of these videos is here on RUclips you should really go over to Midway's website and watch them there instead. They are very often longer, more in depth & more interesting. My only real complaint is that for a long time it was possible to download the videos from the website & store them on your computer. For some reason that's no longer the case. Dammit. I had a good collection going!
great job mr potterfield u are a master when u get time i would like to see how to install threads in barrels for screw in chokes thanks will keep watching
was given a Parker Bicycle works side by side black powder shotgun, it was far to gone to rebuild but wish I had kept it for a major overhaul but the metal was to thin to be shootable.
thank you for breaking the B's unless you have a true rarity these kind of guns are a fun gun & do the best you can I have the same gun & it's been sitting for 30 years time to put it back together mine is a 10gua whish I could afford to restock it
I have just inherited an amazing Parker shotgun and have no idea of its value. Can you point me in the right direction? The double barrel hammerless shotgun is a 10 gauge (I think) and is twisted steel. The barrel is 26" long when off the stock. The serial No. is 108732. Condition is very good . Thanks
Twisted steel might be Damascus barrel. You should reach out to American rifleman magazine and provide as much information possible about it. There’s a section on the magazine dedicated to readers requesting an assessment of value, which is then printed on the magazine. Even if it doesn’t make the magazine print, they may get back to you with an estimate.
Your gun was made in 1902. Check with one of the Parker clubs on line and any of the members will be happy to help you. Provide pics, of course. 26" would be a very unusual factory barrel length for either a 12 or 10 ga., so they may have been shortened. Yes, twisted steel barrels were used in lower grade guns and are commonly seen in the VH. Though they are less beautiful than Damascus, they are not inferior in strength. Nonetheless, there is NO gunsmith in the world who can tell you that yours are safe to shoot, only that they may be unsafe. "Bulges" that indicate that their elastic limits have been exceeded and are therefore unsafe, may be so slight at to be virtually invisible.
I love Larry's videos. Getting to see a master at work helps a hobbyist like me get a old gun restored.
It is hart warming to fine people in other countries that have good taste in firearms.
God bless

Maybe too good for TV. The TV is a cesspool for soap operas and corrupt politicians.
Larry is great on depicting his process on restoring these guns. I have learned a lot in a short period of time.
Really enjoying these Midaway. Thanks. My kind of story time!
Wish the full videos were out there somewhere, what's on RUclips is only like small minutes at a time.
Larry is a great asset to the shooting sports community.
I like these videos you're doing, they bring a certain genuineness to the firearms that I find very enjoyable.
At 7:30 is a masterful explanation of the stock/lock interface and importance of same.
I love watching Larrys vids. I always learn something cool from his uploads. Cool to see you enjoy them to.
best gun videos on the tube

Wish Larry would do project to get ammo at Midway instead of having it all on email notification that never gets to you before it's sold out.
Master class, nothing more to say
He did all the work himself.
divinely!
Smiling :-)
God is good to me and mine!
