And my 3DS copy actually kept clipping out of the room leaving me to stare at Black Space (and opened to attack) …while trying to target. -so much of oot is artificial difficulty because the controls are so clunky + never cleaned up- Buuuut for an actual oot stan to go off? They made it WORSE.

Anything that gets in the way of what the player wants to do will create a bad experience whether that's bad controls, lag, and really anything that falls under the broad umbrella of being "unintuitive" like Diggernaut in Samus Returns among other things. I would also like to just throw out that both Operation Raccoon City and RE6 play better than most of these garbage rereleases and to say those games are unpolished is a major understatement. They'll keep doing it though cause people keep buying it
Well, when a service gets a raise in costs as the customer you do expect value for that cost increase. Let's say a cheese burger goes for 2 bucks but this new cheese burger goes for 8 bucks, you kind of assume it has to be tastier and or more valuable.... and then it's not. Except this is a subscription so imagine instead it's a meal prep plan where you get a selection of burgers once a week, for 4 bucks per week but your favorite kind doesn't taste the same as it did when you go there and eat....
How are they okay with this? How do they so casually fuck up something as sacred to their legacy as Ocarina of Time and Mario 64, and for a playerbase that will largely be experiencing them for the first time?
Nintendo only thinks in Japan, the outside world hardly matters to them. The japanese playerbase that never experienced these games is used to shitty smartphone games. They wouldn't even notice.

Ocarina of Time got the shortest end of the stick out of this whole NSO thing, and honestly that just makes me sad. Not 'cause I planned on getting it, but because this is going to be a lot of folks' first experience with one of my favorite games.
I feel sad for anyone who's first exposure to the Dark Link room is.... this. They ruined one of the greatest most ethereal fight introductions in the entire franchise all because they couldn't be bothered to properly test their emulation. Never mind that PC emulation figured out how to perfectly emulate the hardware over a decade ago.
I love how a few dedicated homebrew developers can make a convincing OOT online without lagging the game considerably and Nintendo produces this beast.

Even some of the main games, like Paper Mario Origami King. It was the closest thing to a traditional paper mario game, and it sold well, but there's still so many places in it where you can just tell that some exec's ego is getting the the way of real creativity and good game design.

@@09f9 Mario 64 is kind of janky. OOT really isn’t was my point lol. In fact, there’s a few elements in the gameplay that are unnecessary, like Link’s 3 hit combo. There’s no point to it as confuses people into thinking they can spam attacks on enemies when they’re better off spacing their hits between the stunned i-frames that enemies have. And the basic controls are just…so easy. B to Attack, A to roll/interact with actors/objects. There’s no jump button as Link automatically does it if running off most edges. C buttons to equip shit. This only leaves the camera. Which would be a problem if the Z button didn’t exist to reset your camera and lock onto enemies. And they basically kept this in Wind Waker and the GCN version of Twilight Princess because they work. The only thing that changed was controller shape, but the fundamental set up and finger/thumb location didn’t.
With how badly they botched this. I’m not going to be getting the expansion pass anytime soon. It has me genuinely worried for MM and Banjo Kazooie. This is just adding to the shitshow of the whole Nintendo switch paid online experience. No dedicated servers, no proper audio chat through the console, and such a limited amount of retro console games. They really should have gone into the future as the one company that didn’t want to do paid online memberships. (I honestly think a better model would be just charging a bit more for games that require online features rather than charging for the online feature itself.)

i played through OOT in its entirety on Wii u VC. made a custom controller lay out and everything because i did not like using the right analog stick for C items as C right constantly did down instead. but i never had the chance to play OOT on real hardware and now playing master quest on dolphin with a GC controller.

I have went from playing Super Mario Sunshine on a CRT which is basically zero input lag to passing through an HDMI converter to a flat-screen. It's miserable. (around +1/4 sec of input lag)

This will be first time playing oot, I hope it's not too bad compared to what came before. I'm also 74 stars into mario 64 and it was perfect for me.

They’ve never made a new emulator for switch. NES and SNES was the same emulator as the classic consoles. Those emulators were pretty good. They never made an n64 classic console so they just reused Wii U’s most likely
