According to some sources. A lot of this is rumor and hearsay. Or based on books written by people claiming to have had same-sex relationships with some of the people named in this video. A lot of the Tracey stuff comes from a guy who was a male hooker in Hollywood who wrote a book and starred in a documentary claiming Tracey was gay, and was also one of his clients. The hooker also hinted that Hepburn was a lesbian, rather than the bisexual that she had long been rumored to be. It seems likely Hepburm was one or the other, but I don't know how much of a "GOSPEL" the male Hollywood hooker should be taken as. @@keythdanielsen9315 A lot of the Grant stuff comes from the fact that in the 1930s and 1940s Grant often lived with Randolph Scott when he wasn't married. There is supposedly a quote from a female star (I forget who) from that period, who supposedly said, "EVERYBODY IN HOLLYWOOD KNOWS CARY GRANT LIKES MEN" However, it's probably more likely that he was bisexual rather than gay. For instance In the 1950s Grant had a romance with Sophia Loren, who had a longstanding boyfriend (who become her husband). People close to Grant always said Grant was deeply in love with Loren and very much devastated when she ultimately chose her future husband over him. And a writer who wrote a biography of Grant came to the conclusion that he was bisexual. That writer also said that Grant was pretty much done with men as he got older. In my opinion, women being bisexual is completely normal and has been for hundreds of thousands of years. Just realize we have been polygamous marriages for hundreds of thousands of years.
I think you only touched the tip of the iceberg with this subject. There are definitely actresses that you didn't cover in here. I think Lillian Gish was wasn't she?
Joan Crawford was the most surprising too me. Hepburn would be the second surprise. I always thought these two were only into men. One learns something new everyday as they say. 😀 While not a famous Hollywood Actress as women mentioned in this. Lily Tomlin who starred with Dolly Parton in 9 to 5 is a lesbian and has been living with another woman for sometime.
No surprise, really, that nearly everyone in the acting profession's gay, lesbian or bi - and much more. It seems to be their nature to swing either way or bat for both sides, especially with all the opportunity afforded them to explore different characters and the human condition.
There was a lot of sleeping around in Hollywood by both sexes, with both sexes. That doesn’t mean there was actually a romance, though. A well known female entertainer slept with multiple women (and men), but only had what could be called a romance with one of the women. As soon as she found a man she fancied, the female romance was over. Happened the other way, too.
Many people are posting interesting comments, which begs the question, What is gay? If one lusts after people of the same sex but never have sex with someone of the same sex are they gay? What if someone just likes to have sex with people of the same sex, but do not tend to fall in love with people of the opposite sex? What if someone just likes to sleep around, period? Male, female, whatever? Doesn't care? A term often used by heath care agents is MSM, men who have sex with other men. Why? Because some men have sex with other men, but claim to be straight. Are they lying? See, these are the issues that confuse people, both straight and LGBT. This is also what makes being LGBT different than being pretty much any other type of minority.
“Full Service” by Scotty Bowers, having out lived his friends, just wanted to make everyone happy. He survived Iwo Jima, losing his brother and best friend. Bartender to the Stars for over 60 years.
That documentary was not surprising but how long that open secret stuff went on without people's careers getting destroyed....amazing. Like Scotty said "they are all dead now so the truth can't hurt them."
"Secretly" due to the then-immense stigma against same-sex attraction. Sometimes-extreme actions of those so inclined (e.g. Liberace) were in reaction that dreadful standard.
What about the huge stage actress Lotta Crabtree. She was a total closet lesbian, and had some affairs with other actresses. She never married, and according to the medical examiner she died a virgin.

@@aavv1818 I was just messing with you, all in fun. If you want me to take off my comments I will.
A lot of this is rubbish.
Really?
None are alive to fight back.
How do you know that it is rubbish? Many of these names have been described this way for years.
@@brendapayne6603 And they’ve been dead for years too.
In my opinion, women being bisexual is completely normal and has been for hundreds of thousands of years. Just realize we have been polygamous marriages for hundreds of thousands of years.
You're very perceptive . 😊💕
People were too classy to label or discuss sexual orientation publicly, most likely like my ww2 gen grandparents sex was a private matter
I think you only touched the tip of the iceberg with this subject. There are definitely actresses that you didn't cover in here. I think Lillian Gish was wasn't she?
They all were. Acting's the perfect profession.
Much of Anger’s book has been debunked
Hollywood Babylon is basically a work of fiction.
Now I’d like to know the stars that were exclusively heterosexual
Bette Davis. Probably Jimmy Stewart... ?
Joan Crawford was the most surprising too me. Hepburn would be the second surprise. I always thought these two were only into men. One learns something new everyday as they say. 😀
While not a famous Hollywood Actress as women mentioned in this. Lily Tomlin who starred with Dolly Parton in 9 to 5 is a lesbian and has been living with another woman for sometime.
Do you mean Lily Tomlin by any chance?
@@lilyredhead1398 Yes!! I did mean "Lily Tomlin" wrote it in hurry because of needing to get to church where I am organist.
I heard something about M. Munroe and B.Bardot..just a rumour?
No surprise, really, that nearly everyone in the acting profession's gay, lesbian or bi - and much more. It seems to be their nature to swing either way or bat for both sides, especially with all the opportunity afforded them to explore different characters and the human condition.
The list would be a lot shorter if you told us who was straight.
OK, now what actors aren't Gay? No matter who might be named as straight...I can't believe it.
A woman enjoying or preferring women was preferable to a studio as long as they kept it quiet. Less pregnancies and drama.
Well ..that can happen in life .not just Hollywood .Sexual encounters and romanctic relationships are not the same thing sometimes .
Jeez!!! So when did sleeping become a bad thing??? Crazy world!!!
💯😁😁😁💯💯💯😁😁😁🌝
This could be fake. There are just rumors.
Marilyn Monroe I didn't know she was bisexual.
"Secretly" due to the then-immense stigma against same-sex attraction. Sometimes-extreme actions of those so inclined (e.g. Liberace) were in reaction that dreadful standard.
I think you meant Billie Holiday and not Billie Hollywood.
I am too old to be surprised by any of this.
If you’re looking for credibility calling it ‘Whatever happened to Mary Jane’ ain’t a good way to start.
Reading the Sewing Circle brought me here. I have an ever so slight obsession 😂
Thank you.
You're welcome! We're so glad you enjoyed this video. What other types of videos would you like to see?
What about the huge stage actress Lotta Crabtree. She was a total closet lesbian, and had some affairs with other actresses. She never married, and according to the medical examiner she died a virgin.
Anything possible in secret
The big names you mentioned bio,and all of them beautiful and attractive for men
I'm waiting for Elizabeth Taylor's name. She's not on the list 😂
Who was she knocking around with?
This is not Mercedes De Acosta at 7:25. It's Maude Adams, a stage actress who was also believed to be lesbian.
I had to dress up as Hattie McDaniel for African American History
Next thing we will be told is that Liberace was gay. I always thought he was a bit flamboyant, but in our day (the 1950s) we did not even really think about those things.
Yuck! That’s just not right. Nasty 🤮
Correct
You're nasty

Isn't it kinda weird how people accept the female bisexual women but not any of the men.
“JUDY HOLLYWOOD” ?? Did you mean Judy Holliday ????
“
I am a male, but for Barbara Stanwyck, I would have been a lesbian.
I don't know what's wrong, but I have slowed down the playback speed on this video all the way back to 25%. It still is playing at 100% speed. Way to fast to read!
Suddenly at about 20seconds the speed changed and slowed down. A little later the speed picked up pace again. I tried to change the speed again, but the information was speeding ut didn't slow down. It was finally easier to pause and restart multiple times
"What Ever Happened to Mary Jane?"
What the...what the...?🤭🤔
Judy HOLLYWOOD?! I think you mean Judy Holliday...
Ennywho...the only surprise on your list is Billie Burke.
I adore Joan Crawford! 👑 😈
Thank you for the video but who cares that was their personal lives Let It Be
Billie Holiday and Hattie McDaniel's were the shockers for me
Somehow, none of this really surprises me; we are talking about actors after all.
Did "Mommie Dearest" really need to be in here?
I don't judge what you do in your bedroom. They all were extremely awesome actresses. What's sad is the grasp Hollywood had on these women to "make it," in early Hollywood. I choose love, not what you do with someone privately. 😊
it amazes me how all women have been able to keep this side of their lives quiet for so long , lesbianism is first choice for women for sexual pleasure , and ATM's ( men ) are a second choice
