    I just hope one day they decide to build this same product in a bigger size, for me be to consider this a real complete solution. I wanna be able to wash things like a queen size bed set, beach towels, or jeans in it. It seems kinda too big , already, to be tucked away in my cabinets. I might as well have this even bigger so I could get more functionality out of it, if I can’t hide it when not in use.

    Thank for the review. I live in a small apartment. I have no problem hand washing my cloths but wringing them out enough to hang dry is really difficult in the winter when my place is 58 degrees. I live in Maryland where it is always humid so the drier I can get my cloths the better. I’ve been researching portable washing machines. Except for Wonder Wash, they all appear cheap looking and too big for my bathroom. For now, I’m just going to continue to hand wash but buy the “giant salad spinner” 😜to dry. I love ur pioneer spirit.

    I had the rocker washer from lehmans and the wringer. I never used separate tubs for rinsing. I simply drained the wash water, wrung the clothes, then refilled the rocker washer with fresh water to rinse.

      Yep, it is not for everybody. We had fun using our EcoWash while off grid and the ritual itself was pleasant but when we have a TON of clothes to wash (when my big husband is around) it is really nice to have a real washer and dryer.

    Great video! I have both ( wonder pressure washer and spinner) that I took the rubber suction cups since I used the washer in the tub and it stuck too good and the washer wanted to come apart. I took off the rubber feet and use a soft rubber mat for both. With the mat I can even use it on wood

    I get food stains out with a paste of dawn dish soap and baking soda scrubbed with a tooth brush and then poor a little peroxide on it before washing. It usually gets grease out the first wash, some times it takes twice. It works better than any stain remover on the market. Thank you for the review. I've wondered about that EcoSpin.

    Is the Eco Washer not spinning forward and reverse? I noticed most people only rotate it in one direction and then complain that the clothing article is not cleaned. With a manual hand crank to agitate the clothes, a combination of forward and reverse spinning helps to loosen the dirt and stains.

    I have one coming. My counter top washing machine doesn't have a wringer basket with it. I have tested a salad spinner to wash a few under garments and found the oscillating motion doesn't work as well as spinning one direction for a minute, soak for 5, spin one direction a minute, spin the other direction for 1 minute, drain, repeak with clean water but spin 1 minute one direction the spin the other direction for a minute. Drain and spin to remove water. Sometimes the directions are always the best to go by.

      Yes, it could be good for rinsing. I think my preference would be to do a big tub rinse and then just use this as a spinner to save water. It doesn't agitate well and I think you would maybe have to use your hands to get the water worked in and the soap out?

    At 6:02 you read directly from the manual not to spin the machine with water in it but proceed to attempt to wash your clothes in it. Please correct me if I’m wrong, but I do believe this is just meant to dry clothes by use of centrifugal force, much like smaller versions of it that we call “salad spinners.”
    Attempting to use this to wash your clothes is just as wrong as putting your lettuce or produce and water in a salad spinner and trying to wash them that way. It’s not what it was designed for, therefore the results won’t be promising!

    I use a washboard. I wash in one bucket then rinse in another bucket. When my wash water gets dirty I dump it and swap the rinse to the wash bucket and add clean water to the rinse bucket. Washboard is no guessing. You wash it until you are satisfied. I then hand wring it and hang it on the clothes line I set up on my camper. Single person it works great! Family you need a washing machine!

    I missed you adding the detergent. Maybe why the socks weren't clean? ...

    • @dirtpatcheaven
      @dirtpatcheaven  6 лет назад +3

      I did add detergent. First some dish soap to see what would happen and then some laundry detergent. That was the part where my camera shut down without my noticing, it kept rolling but the footage was black, a new one for me. Instead of dissing the product and showing how badly it washed (hard to turn in the correct pattern and when I did it right it didn't agitate well) showed the rest of the footage where it worked well as a spin dryer. For off grid or apartment dwellers it would be really nice to get the clothes spun dry before hanging it on a clothes rack or line. So it is a good machine, but I only recommend it for spinning things dry. I will make more footage of it as a washer when I have more time but it doesn't show it in a good light and since it is advertised as a spinner not a washer this made more sense.

    Hi, Juli, I just watched Wanda's review of her Eco-Spin washer and spinner and had a thought that was more appropriate for you, so I came over here to share it. Like you said, the Eco-Spin is just like a large salad spinner, and I've heard of knitters using a salad spinner to spin dry small knitwear like socks, mittens, hats, or spinning about 4 ounces of wool, etc. This machine would be perfect for the big things like sweaters, larger spinning projects, or even processing a fleece! My usual method is to roll the item in a towel and stand on it, and then I'm left with a sopping wet towel to dry. This is so much better.

    • @dirtpatcheaven
      @dirtpatcheaven  6 лет назад

      Yes, it is sooo small. We would do one load of laundry and it took three batches to do it. As long as your water is good and hot though it is really pretty fast. As fast as a regular washer if you keep the water heating on the stove and the little kids hauling it from the well. The longest part was letting it dry on the line when it was sopping wet.

    Annnnnd here's the manual spinner I spoke of (in general) in the comments for the Avalon washer posted (to my chagrin) in 2017 ahahhahaa, seems I should maybe read the posted date. Nice little machine by the way, I rather wish I'd found such a thing 30 years ago (while imagining the money I would have saved on electric and laundromats).

  • @1TimothyFourTen
    @1TimothyFourTen 10 месяцев назад

    I realize I'm late to this party. Here's a tip - pour some plain salt - about a tsp or tbsp ($1 at dollar store) in with the washing liquid to help get the stains out. I mix my Dawn dish liquid w/ a tsp of salt and some water, maybe some rubbing alcohol (which is all that Dawn Dish liquid is pretty much) and you have a major laundry booster. Try that (if you still use this washer) and let me know how that goes.

    • @KILLKING110

      Electricity costs money and power companies purposely jack up the price in winter to try to milk people dry that's what they did where I live for the past 6 years until they angered the city council they are going to be replaced by another company but we still have the highest electric rates where I live in Colorado we pay something like 18 cents per kilowatt hour at least the average electric bill is at least 100$ a month in summer easily while in winter its more like 110$ per month.

      Esther S part of the thing we aren't thinking about is she doesn't keep the same amount of clothes as we do. While I agree with you, that having to sit there and spin that thing for 30 min seems like a waste of time...If they only need to wash one load a week, it's not so bad. Even only 2 or 3 loads...for a family of 4.

    You look so beautiful just with simple updates to your look. Why is it you dress the girls with clothes that don't reflect a current yet classic style for young girls? I just feel that they are made to look old-fashioned with the handmade clothes and kerchiefs. Is it a religious practice? Or just being thrifty?

    This video is very confusing. It does not have a target purpose and incorporates a lot of information along the way. Are you hoping to wash, rinse or spin-dry clothes? Why are you mentioning so many different machines that run so differently and have such different energy sources? Perhaps if you wrote a script it would help to stay focused. 1)Purpose of video and goals expected. 2) Process of testing and elimination. 3) Conclusion. Much luck. I am in Puerto Rico and have no water and sometimes no electricity. I watch you often and have found your videos very useful. I am a certified Visual Arts teacher and a bilingual teacher.

      We live in a tiny house and I am showing how we do laundry now in our kitchen. I was then showing small clips of our old laundry situation in our off grid cabin. The purpose of the video was the show the spinner and talk about how I would incorporate it into my old and current laundry routine. What I would recommend it for. As I said in the video there was about 17 minutes of footage that was corrupted. I showed what I believed the spinner was good for. I will probably make more videos of the spinner but for now I was trying to just let everyone see it.

    Seems like it is only good for spin drying. Also, better get out a washboard and a bar of stain remover laundry soap. I do not think any washing machine will get that nastiness out!!!

      What do you mean? What was nasty? I use a hand washer when we live off grid and it is pressurized, this is for spin drying.

      No argument there. It is nice to have to rinse and spin when you don't have another option or if you have very few clothes.

    Good lord, no wonder the camera died. If you didn't talk and talk and talk for14 long mins before getting to the point, you could have showed us what the video suppose to show us, which was WASHING the clothes!!! And you may not get paid, but you do get all these things for free! And the handle looks too flimsy, you can tell it will break with 2-3 uses.
