Bill another tip i always do is wipe down with prepwash /prepsol then use a microfibre rag then wipe it again ,you will be surprised how much dirt comes off and gives a really nice finish.
@@sowhat3430yes you can buy Prep wash in a bottle from bunnings or supercheap.Just wipe on with a microfibre cloth and use a diiferent cloth to wipe again. The results are 5 star👍
I did this myself (Woodland Grey in Dulux Weathershield on the gutters too!). It's amazing how painting the gutters and eaves makes your house look so much "fresher". 👍 I'd recommend a satin finish for the gutters and matte for the eaves: shiny eaves shows up every bit of dirt.
Looks great Bill. Could you use a piece of cardboard or metal as a guide to tuck under the gutter to stop the darker colour getting on the facia as you cut it in (i.e. paint)?
Use only the tip of the brush and lay off all the paint in long strokes. You can use a roller but it you have to keep on top of the Roll marks Especially as gutters are rounded. 👍
Looks great. What colours did you choose? I have primrose (cream)vinyl siding and dark green gutters/fascia. Would like to modernize it but unsure what colour goes with primrose. I like the dark grey.
I'm 99% certain the grey is Woodland Grey. If you go to thd paint section at Bunnings, in addition to the "single colour" cards, they have "complimentary colour" cards that have three colours that look good together.
Bill what would you do if the paint on the fascia is flaking off? Would you just give it a scrape, give it a quick sand and put the Weathershield on top or would you prime first before the Weathershield?
Were the gutters done in matte or satin? It didn’t look like gloss. And, Bill, when you cleaned up the gutters and facia did you ‘rough up (or lightly sand) before applying the first coat?… and did you apply a second coat? Sorry, lots of questions.
This property is over 30 years old with the original gutters. also if you want to change the color scheme then this is much cheaper than replacing gutters and fascia 👍
You have to atleast wash those gutters & fascia FIRST. Most of the mould stains wash off easy with a mixture of water & some metho, then wipe off with a clean dry rag, then a light sand with some 180 paper & dust off. That house isnt that old the gutter & fascia isnt that badly stained let alone pitted. But regardless you dont paint a dirty surface like this.
@billshowto using the correct tools will make the job more efficient and you get a better finish. You need to sand to give the paint a chance to adhere properly.
that’s not my experience not is it what the manufacturer states for their product. If you want to sand all the gutters you can but there is no need for all that extra work
@billshowto manufacturers usually state on the paint brush what that brush is best suited for . The one you using is for doors and door frames . Takes me less them an hour to scuff the gutters BILL . At least I know by scuffing I've done a descent job for my customers and not half hearted BS

How do you do the prep wash/prep\sol? Just soak them with the cloth towel and give a good wipe?

Great video as usual Bill.

Appealing look bro.
Awesome job!

Beautiful
Video on i installing gutters and facias please
Very nice mate looks brand new! I don’t trust myself cutting in I have to mask…. 🤦🏻♂️
Practice makes perfect 👍👍👍

You could use a metal shield for small sections but would be difficult and tiring for a whole house. Masking tape would work best 👍👍👍
@@billshowto thanks mate!
Love your work always Bill - how do you avoid brush marks? Could you cut in w a brush, then roller these?

Great job and very nice finish 👍👍👍 do you need to sand or just wipe it?
No sanding and no primer just clean the gutters before painting 👍👍👍
Hey @billshowto what about leveling out the gutter. Why does the water sit up one end and not run to the down pipe
No sanding required at all. Or was it due to age. I want to change the colour on my gutters but it’s really new colourbond.

The gutters were basalt and the fascia classic cream also known as primrose 👍
Literally doing this this summer lol. Any reason why you aren’t spraying?
Too much masking off and working close to other neighbor’s property I would be most worried about over spray 👍
hi mate do i need to sand down the Colorbond fascia to paint it with weather shield paint ?
Hi Bill, how do you rate British paints?
Can I paint straight over old paint once washed with warm soapy water
Bill what would you do if the paint on the fascia is flaking off? Would you just give it a scrape, give it a quick sand and put the Weathershield on top or would you prime first before the Weathershield?
Scrap off all loose material , quick sand and primer before applying dulux weathershield.👍
@@billshowto what would you suggest as primer?

What is the best recommended size/type of brush ?
I use a 63mm and any mid to high end brush will do just don’t buy cheap ones👍
May I know which brand is better?
I never did understand why you would want to pain colourbond, it is good for 25 years! Once painted you will be doing it again every 5 to 10 years!

How wide a brush did you use… e.g., 50mm, or something bigger which can hold more product like a 100mm?
63 mm 👍
Thanks mate!

Would prefer to sand it down abit and use a proper brush ...the brush u using is for doors
You can use what works best for you and I use what works best for me👍
