Italy y is a beautiful country!, No matter how many times you visit, you always end up falling in love again with its people, its food, its culture, its history!
@@robyfioriliCredimi ho vissuto all'estero e viviamo molto meglio che in tanti paesi.
Nice video and it's always good to see someone who comes from abroad to review Genoa. Indeed, we are too often overlooked by the main tourist routes. The only criticism I feel is related to the fact that only the city center was visited. Genoa is 20 Km long (West-East) and almost every neighborhood has its own ancient churches, historic palaces and villas, parks, etc. The various Genoese neighborhoods were nineteen independent municipalities, of different sizes and development, until 1926, when they were unified with the central (and biggest) one, the historical Genoa. Some suffered from strong building speculation in the 60s / 70s (a period of intense immigration from the central and southern Italy) which makes the town seem a continuous whole, but anyway they have maintained a strong identity. However, despite having passed almost a century, the vast majority of tourist guides / television documentaries / the institutional tourist promotion, seem to be interested only in what is present in the cental area, where there was the "historical" (central) Genoa, neglecting the more decentralized districts like Sestri, Pegli, Nervi, etc so unfortunately it's a generalized problem. If you were to return, I would like to recommend the "Villa Duchessa di Galliera" in Voltri with its large historical park, the "Parco Villa Durazzo Pallavicini" in Pegli (unfortunately this isn't free), the "Sanctuary of Nostra Signora del Monte Gazzo" above the neighborhood of Sestri Ponente, from which you can see a panorama that sweeps for a good part of the west ligurian coast, and the "Anita Garibaldi promenade" in the Nervi district, with its parks and art museums. And yes, we eat focaccia (rarely the one with onions) dip in cappuccino (or in coffee with milk, which is served in regular espresso cups) for breakfast and sometimes as an afternoon snack. However, focaccia, plain or stuffed with onions, olives, salami, etc... is also eaten alone or accompanied by local white wines. Tthe combination of sweet and salty is not to everyone's taste and outside of Liguria the custom of combining focaccia and cappuccino is not usually practiced.
Thanks for the comment! Yes, we know we missed a lot of Genoa. But we would love to go back without a camera and just explore. And thanks for note on focaccia - I'll have to try it again.
the beauty of Italy is diversity, you can find charm in every country and in every city, they are all different, I love Genoa for its Carrugi and I am happy you liked it, as in Portofino it is very expensive like all the places well-known tourist, as they say in Italy: "TI PELANO", congratulations for the nice video.
Welcome back guys and welcome to 2024 ! I wish you and wonderfull year and thanks for this beatiful Genova trip , to start the year. Some sunshine in this cold days of winter 😍😍
Hey! So nice to see bright smiles on your faces when talking about my city ♥️. Answering your question: I’m a local and dipping the focaccia in our cappuccino is a misconception that people from other cities think we do. We have some focaccia with cappuccino but not dipping it. The cappuccino gets oily and you don’t want so ☺️
Awesome video, thank you ❤ finally will go to my dream country this fall (plan includes Milano, Florence, Genoa, Bologna and Venice) and taking Mom to her dream city Paris 🎉 Enjoyed your video a lot, especially food part 😊
I confirm, we put the focaccia, the normal one not the one with onions, in the cappuccino or in the sweetened coffee and milk. and we like it very much
Trying to decide a quick 4 night trip after business in Florence for 2 weeks later this month. This would be Feb 5-10. Weather forecast as of now is good in Genoa and in Catania/SE Sicily. Which would be better during Feb. in general. I’ve already been to Palermo/Cefalu/Taormina in the summer so leaning towards Genoa since it seems lively. I’ll be alone this time. Could also quickly see the Cinque Terre towns one day by rental car. I’ve been all over Italy but never to Genoa or the Italian Riveria. Never been to SE Sicily either and would base myself in Catania/Regusa if I do that for 2 nights each.
Hi Aimara and Gordon, the video was published on January 13th, 2024, but was it filmed in January? You can wear t-shirts in January there and not feel cold?
Hello - we filmed in early October, it just took a while to publish 🙃. January would be cool/cold by our standards, and almost certainly not t-shirt weather for most people.
Hi Hyde! Yeah, we took a bit of a break from posting for mental health reasons and to spend time with our families ❤️ But now we're back!! 🥳 Thanks so much for being here and watching our videos 🙏🏼 Sending big hugs from Mexico!
Just came back from a 10 day solo trip to Italy, France & Spain. Part land part MSC cruise. Pro tip::: Pack light!! I can’t express that enough. So much walking, so many stairs and uneven cobble stone terrain. It’s ok to be fashionably stylish but do dress comfortable and plan to rewear your clothes. It’s ok to wash a few outfits and wear them again. Also.. if in Italy specifically Genova. Never enter a bus without a ticket. You cannot pay on the bus. The police comes on the bus and asks for your ticket. If you don’t produce a ticket you will be forced to pay €67 later or€47 on the spot by credit card. The will not budge with tears or pleading about being an English speaking tourist. Happened to me and had I let it get to me it certainly would have ruined my trip 2 days in. For the trains make sure that if you buy your ticket at the station that you validate it at one of the many machines before boarding. If you bought it online make sure that the pass is downloaded to your wallet or you have a screenshot of it. For taxi drivers always navigate the route with them on your speakerphone or they will take you the longest route possible to Jack up the fare.
