    I really dont understand why he is so overvalued. I understand that he is young but what has he done so far? He is 26, right ? Trout has won MVP three times and one natting title already when he was 26. How many MVPs has Soro won? He has won ond batting totle in covid year, thats it. Has hit more than 30HRs in only 3 seasons. Acuna is same age as him and he is (to me) way better than Soto.
    He is not a must see TV like Shohei, nobody is gonna watch the game just because he is playing.
    I know Cohen has money to burn but its really overpriced, over hyped off season signing.

  • @bluedog1

    LOL what a bad deal. The guy is a 7 - 9 WAR player - they are paying like $6.5M for every win. For that kind of money they could bring in 15 WAR spread over 3 guys. Feels like a bad deal.

    Disappointed but thankful for the amazing season. However Yankees need to allocate their money elsewhere. 765 million for a guy who can’t pitch like Ohtani and doesn’t even have better overall offense number than Ohtani isn’t worth it to me. He is a clutch player, but still too much money. Farewell Juan.

      Not too much money for an owner that has made whole contract in the last 6 months.

    • @surfwriter8461
      @surfwriter8461 28 дней назад +3

      Yeah, one and done for Soto with the Yankees. As you say, he doesn't even have quite the same offensive stats as Ohtani and doesn't pitch like Ohtani. He doesn't steal bases either. (Look at his SB numbers. He steals very few bases and at a terrible percentage in success rate. ) A player makes what someone is willing to pay, and obviously the Mets owner was determined to pay the highest price. I don't buy that Soto views the Mets as ascending more than the Yankees, with a much better future. It's about money to him. No deferred cash at all, while Ohtani deferred more than 90% to help his team sign other good players.

      The Verlander and max deals were flyers to fast forward the chance at being competitive. A short term calculated risk that was affordable and worth it in the context of the situation and resources available. Honestly, it almost worked with the Mets winning 100 games.
      The soto deal is different. An overpay? Maybe to most teams but again, it's all about context. Soto is going to be a top 5 guy for the next decade, anchors the line up and will likely be a hall of farmer wearing orange and blue.

    The Mets now need another hitter because after Vientos, Lindor and Soto, it’s an unimpressive group of bats.
    They also need another high end pitcher to pair with Kodai because Manaea isn’t it. He’s better suited as a #3/4.
    What’s in the Mets favor though is that Soto’s work ethic in hitting can be transferred onto some of the younger players with big expectations, like Vientos and Acuña.
