    Part 11: • Rashard Mendenhall on ...
    --------
Wide receiver Antonio Brown's actions during a game in January, which resulted in him leaving mid-match, could be viewed as a moment of strength, according to former Pittsburgh Steeler teammate Rashard Mendenhall. Brown's unexpected departure came as a shock to many, including Tom Brady who had brought Brown to Tampa Bay. Mendenhall drew parallels to ex-Buffalo Bills cornerback Vontae Davis, who infamously retired at halftime during a game. Reflecting on the incident, Mendenhall said Davis felt he was taking his power back by deciding exactly when he was done playing football, suggesting Brown might have had a similar experience. It was also suggested that this controversy has effectively ended Brown's career as doubts are cast on any teams being interested in him nowadays.

I feel like Rashard desperately wants to defend AB for some reason, but can't and then backtracks to a more compassionate angle. It comes off as weakness of conviction.
When Tomlin spoke in depth on it, he acknowledged the bad but straight up said he chooses to think back on the good. Troy was asked and he went straight to the compassionate side, because that's who Troy is. They didn't have to pile on the guy, but that doesn't mean being wishy washy either.

it's hard to have an opinion that isn't simply hating or simply enabling that doesn't come off as wishy washy. man i feel so sorry for social workers and case workers and stuff like that, having to come up with perfectly measured ways to say "if you say you are going to show up for something and you have the power to show up and you don't show up you are a liar and liar is bad". i wonder if that's what it's like to be Antonio Brown's friend - you're trying to get through to this guy and get him to act honorably, but you're aware that he's walked out on his mom, his teammates etc so you feel like any effort to hold him accountable might lead him to distance himself
I kinda think we should have something similar to the military draft to give young men structure. so many grow up without dads these days. approximate 70% of black children in the US are born out of wedlock, for example. maybe young men could spend a few years getting paid to put solar panels on roofs of warehouses, hospitals, college dorms, etc, fighting forest fires, helping at nursing homes, building apartments and condos, and getting to experience brotherhood and learn from prosthetic fathers

Vlad was not concerned about shifting the perspective on Antonio Brown.
It was "if I can get this interview, I can get a lot of views off of him telling crazy stories".
But Antonio Brown may be somebody that has true narcissistic personality disorder. And not the youtube podcast guest diagnosed version of narcissisttic disorder.
To see your mother get beat up by a boyfriend at 15, and have her chose that boyfriend over you at the age where most teens are right before they take on their first milestone of freedom and social status by getting a drivers license.
And he's essentially homeless. To progress past the level of best by just being in the league, but best of the best, I can see a personality disorder of severe self centeredness developing.

Rashard spoke on Antonio Brown very well. It's clear that he's a good friend, so he's not going to speak on his behalf or speak bad on him, which is respectful. I think everyone has AB all wrong. I don't think he has CTE, and he's a hell of a lot smarter than people realize. His brain just works differently, so the things that come out of his mouth are always misinterpreted. I watched the Patrick Bet David podcast with AB, and it made me see him for what he was. Definitely humanized him in my eyes, but there's a lot of people that still see him for how the mainstream media portrays him. Which is totally false. I don't know why they always do this to successful black men. Not trying to make it a race thing, but look at Dave Chappelle, Katt Williams, tiger woods, etc. It goes on and on
