Spending $1K for a can is a vanity exercise on this bike. Stock, it was engineered brilliantly, one of the many carefully thought-out features and packaging that appear to have made the sum much greater than the parts. A very successful, very Honda product. I hope to have this as a second bike in my tight garage. Really, this is "good for beginners"? Honestly - no posing needed - this comfortable, fun, quick bike is not a starter bike. 50bhp can get anyone in trouble. The Hornet looks to be a great choice for even the most experienced rider who could use all their riding talents (real or imagined) to squeeze even more out of it.
Great video! 👍 Ordered mine yesterday, absolutely amazing to ride. Super agile, loads of torque in any gear, comfortable. Couldn't believe how high it revs, it kept going! Love it and can't wait! I went for Iridium Grey too! Classy!
Visited a Honda dealer today - looking at A2 bikes for my son, but also planning my own return to life-long biking after a short break. Seeing the 750 Hornet in the flesh today and rushing home to and look at the reviews I might have just added a new, very strong contender to my rather long list. Thanks for all the reviews!
Interesting to see the number of recycled parts. Lots even from a CB125R appears. Mirrors, bar ends, rear lights, indicators, I think the rear brake is the same as well. I will end up buying one this year regardless
Stepping back into riding after a couple of decades, but this Hornet, which is the bike I really want is NOT available in the US yet! So... will get a CB500F ASAP, ride it for a couple of seasons, then (?!) get this when it arrives Stateside. They are very comparable in many ways, and I hope and believe the transition will be made easier by the close kinship between the two. I will be getting the Hornet with the aim of it being my last bike, to be enjoyed as long as I can go on riding; it has more than enough power and the Honda quality and the fun-factor are main selling points of both bikes for me. So, here's hoping Honda bring this to the US..
Learned on a heavier CB650 then rode this and a Trident 650 on the same day and absolutely loved the Hornet. Since clocked 1k and no complaints. Brilliant around town. Bit blowy at high speed and need to tuck in. But that's ok.
Listening over my computer, I thought the stock exhaust on the Hornet sounded crisper and better overall when you revved them both. I was quite impressed by the sound in all the many videos I've watched on the Hornet. It is a really well rounded bike with so much more to offer than Yamaha and almost up to the Aprillia 660, at a far more attractive price point. And you know the Honda has everyone covered when it comes to quality and durability. I had a Ducati S2R 1000 Monster and this bike is far lighter, has modern electronics and rider aids, and it has more power than my Duc had.... so I am determined to get one of these. They won't be on sale here in North America for another year as Honda is releasing it in Europe only this year. We will get the Transalp soon, but I prefer the handling from the 17" wheels and grippy tires. I love riding quick through corners, and doing wheelies out of them. Let's not forget that it gets nearly 60 MPG as well. My Duc was more like 30MPG...
just went and sat on one, didn't mind it. At first thought pegs were really high and a bit too aggressive. But then I sat back on my sv650s and realised my bike seemed more aggressive. Going to book a test ride I think to see what it is like on the road
Surprised they didn't put a 180 on the rear, it definitely looks like a fun MT07 competitor and I might consider one and change the tire size/suspension and a full exhaust system to have a fun naked bike for the city again.
Really looks nice. I'm impressed with the twin,vs the inline 4. I really haven't been looking at the new Hondas,so don't know how long they've been doing twins, but I like it. The look is nice, coming from a 1975 CB 750 four, owner. Totally new look. And not terrible a price, for what you get. I'll never have one. Because at 70, the 2005 triumph T100 I have will probably be my last bike. But, If I were 20 years younger I d be tempted for sure. But at 225, I'd probably be looking at little bigger. But maybe not. Thanks for the looksee. Take care, ride using your head, cheers 👍.
Hi nice rewiew. I am 6 foot 3. will I be able to sit sensibly on this motorcycle. The Transalp is maby better but also 30 procent more expenxive here in Denmark. thank you best regards Preben
I love hondas by the way have 7 old ones two vfr 750 cbr 900 fireblade nss 250 scotter and 84 goldwing i prefer transalp 750 for looks or cb 500 x or cb 650 f hornet is fantasic bike
By far, BEST objectiv review on the Hornet 750. I think its a great bike. The only things why i wont buy it now are : ugly WELDS on the frame, and particulary on the passenger footrests, then i dont like the actual colors... Grey would be the least worse, but its very sad and mat makes it even more plasticy and fragile. Finally i think the fork is too soft, and it ll be even softer in summer with higher temperatures.. So i ll wait for a v2 improved Hornet 750... or maybe a cb750 classic or scrambler variant ?
Nice vid. It's undoubtedly a great value super functional bike but it looks so bland & dull. I just couldn't part with money for it on the basis that looking at it evokes pretty much nothing other than a shrug. If I was going to buy a middleweight Honda, it would definitely be the CB650R which looks great imo. Makes you wonder if the same team designed both bikes. Will also be very interested to see a direct comparison with the GSX8S which despite the superficial similarities seems to have had a different design brief. I think the Hornet will feel more sportier & agile etc while the GSX8S is going to be more stable & grown up, which may mean boring tbh. Guess we'll see.
Sounds like you're more keen on the retro look. Which is rather perverse from people like yourself. Namely that round headlight is beyond trite and overused.
Nice feature review. I would like to hear the down sides as well. I am yet to ride one but understand that the Hornet is not as stable through corners as some. Secondly there is no hugger (half back mudguard) on the back wheel so road splash goes everywhere, including all over the exhaust. Not good enough for what I consider to be a big enough bike to own forever. Certainly can not justify more cost and emissions. The local dealer says they can source a hugger, but I am not sure if it is OEM or after market. One cut too many to meet a price point in my view. On that they are not so cheap where I live. More than the CB650 range. And the 650s do have huggers. and are well finished Just a bit lame in my view. What else have they taken a short cut on?
There are 2 main downsides I've seen. Bike gets filthy fast, especially in the rain. Bugger all mudguards front and back. In the wet, crap gets right up your back, and bikes inards, where it is hard to clean, get a lot of grime. Also, its difficult checking and adjusting tyre pressures. Honda should have put a right-angle nozzle, but this is an example of cut down to a price. It's an exciting and enticing bike, but though I'm in the market, I just can't seem to 'pull the pin' on the Hornet.
Hey Motobob! At 05:12 the Honda CB500F has also twin discs at the front, radially mounted (starting with the 2022 model), and also USD (big piston) forks, as shown at 05:15... so yeah, it would be actually be pretty fair to compare the 2 bikes... Oh, and I for example, HATE the 160 wheel at the back, it's just to save costs, not about agility, that's BS. You can have enough agility with a 180 rear tire. The Hornet looks like the bigger sister of the CB500F, great motor, but still a shame... ✌🏼
Yeh does not feel like a big bike when you are on it. the bike is quick though, particularly when you get to 6,000 rpm. The throttle really is a bit snatchy around town. User mode with engine braking low and power two helps.
Anyone know of a video of one of these with a excellent aftermarket exhaust sound track? This is the only thing stopping me from running out and buying one. I know its on my computer, but compared to a MT07 with an Acropovich exhaust the Hornets stock sound reminds me far too much of a 250cc bike.... Id love to hear one with a comparable aftermarket exhaust fitted... that would probably seal the deal for me... I also agree the grey is a very nice model! Great review.
Ordered mine weeks ago. Seems to be a wait on the extras like the quick shifter so no idea when I will actually get mine. 🙁 btw what about a list of negative points as no bike is perfect. I think looks are not the best, it badly needs a rear hugger and the rear seat cowl only comes in black when it should match the bike. Still buying one after a test ride that was just so much fun though.
Just from looks I 'd chose this over the mt. I don't know about the engine though.. Cause for me is Number1:Looks, Number2: riding fun & position of riding.
If someone told me this was a CB500F, I would have believed them. Also, the 500 now has dual front discs. Both nice bikes, buy I want a bike like the H’ness in India, dammit. Come on, Honda. What’s taking so long? 😅

Hornet 599 2008 year model has 100.6 BHP. This one has 90.5 and it is a 750! And has two less cilinders. I think used is the way in this case. - Honda CB600F HORNET 2011 75 kw / 102 PS / 100.6 BHP @ 12,000 RPM 63.5 N·m / 6.4 kgf·m @ 10,500 RPM - Best wishes.
Crazy that this cheap bike gets 3 colors and the CB650r gets 1 color and it's black. Everything is just so cheap and poorly executed. Some bits I like but some I just can't understand why Honda went so cheap. Stock exhaust even sounds nicer than the SC one but they both don't look very good. Screen is nice, stickers are cheap. What are you doing Honda?!?!
It's different down south. Honda really screw us over with an overpriced 600RR and supply us only with neutered learner legal 650R's 😒 It's in large part why I'm holding my breath for an R9. Or hopefully a CBR version of the 750. But then I'm more inclined for the former given the 3 cylinder is properly tried and tested.
As “boring” as grey sounds on paper, it weirdly makes sense on the Hornet… No one is gonna buy that ridiculously pricey slip on exhaust, surely. Not with all the cheaper alternatives out there.

£900 for an exhaust on a £7k new bike? Madness.
And it’s not even a full system
Yh thats about normal. Obviously depending on what you decide to choos but for the most part yh
Ridiculous in General some Exhaust prices, 1.200€ for a Akra on the KTM
Ppl spend similar for the Grom
Get a hornet and a navi 🙊
I wish they had used the headlight from the CB650R.
Thank you mr Bob!
I agree
they were going for the street fighter look, so the cb650r headlights wouldnt have blended in with that theme
its a different look

What is your opinion if Honda will come out with a CB750R neo retro?! That's the one I want!!
The current 500's from Honda actually also have dual discsl up front
Like the factory fitted exhaust sound 👍
He did not Do his research.
If the NEW Hornet is Being Compared
It should be to the Latest CB500F
Both great Bikes Anyway
Honda Cb500F also gets double discs at the front in newer year models.
90hp for less than $7000 is insane!
Great commuter I have a Honda 500f love it. This bikes looks great for the price with Honda reliability great video.
That's a lot of bike for not a lot of money. I'd have it over the Yamaha but would be interested to see how it stack up against the Suzuki.
The Suzuki reviews should be out very soon, the journalists were in France on them yesterday
MCN have a review on their website already but not s video
The Suzuki is smoother, more stable and feels like a big bike.
Surprised they didn't put a 180 on the rear, it definitely looks like a fun MT07 competitor and I might consider one and change the tire size/suspension and a full exhaust system to have a fun naked bike for the city again.
180 rear on a bike with 90 hp? Not really necessary. 180 is OK for 150+ hp sports bikes.
@@MyMednas not necessary but looks so much cooler
The point is looks, not everything has to be function over form@@gingernuts8973
Thank's Bob i am going to but one when the weather settles down in the UK.
got one on order here in Catalunya. This week should make it happen.I think thew exhaust option is stupid ! the OE exhaust does the job admirable.
A combination of the Hornet's engine and the style of CBxR's would definitely be my choice.
CB500f has twin front disc aswell
Great video Motobob as usual! 😊
Like the looks GREAT looking bike will they bring it to the USA ?
Four pipes looks about 1,000% better than two. I'll take the CB650R just for the exhaust.
I would take the 750 for the exhaust also 😂
I cant dislike this comment enough. An absolute display of ignorance to say this is less fun than an inline4.

Shame it hasn't got the bolt on subframe
I’m going crazy not having this bike in the US. It’s the perfect upgrade to my CB500F. I neeeeeeed it!
Damn... i need one of these bikes.
Yo nice bike
The CB 500 F has duel disk in the front sir… and with a shorty exhaust sounds better too
Honda, USA, please come take my money!!!
I am sure the New Honda CB500f
Has Twin Front Discs as well
Yeah. Prior to 2022 they had one only.
Not all bikes come with Michelin tyres, mine has Dunlops.
Would love a striped down version like the mt07 would be cheaper too. Would gladly trade electric features for cheaper pricing

Not available in the USA :(
Can I ride this bike with A2 license?
Yes - your Honda dealer can make it A2 compliant.
Guys what color do you suggest for this bike?
I need to wait and see what the GSX 8S is saying before making my decision.
I still feel the looks could have been a bit more modern.
It's that headlight.
I like the style of the bike but the headlight needs a desperate update. It's like the old 500cc honda.
Why did you show an animation of a 689cc engine?
cruise control and a better looking head lamp... folks would gladly pay a bit more for that
Looks good in metallic gray. Yellow😝.
Shame Honda arnt interested in making 4 cylinder engines or V twins or V4s anymore. But suppose its cheaper to push twins.
Put a scproject shorty exhaust
Can you mail one of those to the US for me? 😁
I hope could Honda improve product quality in india, new practice
it would be good if honda make and a higher seat
