This was right after the fall of the Soviet Union. It was a free concert with a bunch of other bands. Reported around 1.6 million in attendance with around 50+ deaths. 🤘
@@Kizzy2x Ya, a lot of people don't realize what was actually happening and think it's " just another show ". But it was much more than that. It was an entire nation coming together after the wall that segregated their outside world from what they had been living in for decades. I remember when the wall came down, people peeling off chunks at a time and just shaking hands with others on the other side of the wall when large chunks came down. It was a monumental time for the Soviet Union.
@Jerkturtle - I'm gonna be that asshole... this concert happened just _before_ the official fall of the Soviet Union. The USSR was dissolved in December, 1991 and this concert took place in September, 1991. But, technicalities aside, the writing was on the wall (in some places, literally) and the incoming government used this concert as a bit of an olive branch to the citizens, and a bit of propaganda to the West to show how they were changing. Amy which way you slice it - a godsend of a rock concert that is still rewarding us 30+ years later. 🤘😁
James Hetfield the singer, wrote this after watching the movie The Ten Commandments. You should check out the lyrics. Next up Master of Puppets with lyrics. It’s an anti Drug song. It starts with the drug speaking to the addict, then the addict pleading to the drug and back to the drug tormenting the addict. Probably their most popular song. Studio version please.
If you watch the documentary that goes with this concert, James asked about what happens if the fans just rush the stage, there's nothing anyone could do.
It was in Russia and there were so many people that they called in the national guard to do security and they all had automatic rifles….. so I don’t think they had to worry about people rushing the stage.
That reminds me of freezing death when they played Antarctica in 2013. Yes, it really happened …just because they could…they’re in the Guinness world book of records for playing all seven continents in one year. It cost them millions😂😂😂 And now I’m obsessed with Antarctica. An HP Lovecraft.😂
If you want to get your channel to grow then you should try reaching out for the Tool Army. Start reacting to TOOL and wait for the fans come watch you experience them and watch your numbers grow. Just for guidance I’ll let you know that Tool is a very intelligent group with lots of meaningful songs that are very cryptic and has a bigger vocabulary that makes them very hard to understand at first. Their musicianship is out of this world. They have lots of songs that do a lot of build ups. If you ever decide to go down this rabbit hole most first timers start off with The Pot and Sober. When you start make sure you only watch the audio version because thier videos are creepy to a lot and are very distracting that they lose focus on the meaning of the song. And one last thing you will hear repeatedly by the Tool Army is SPIRAL OUT!!

That’s absolutely crazy I did NOT know that 😮
A russian guy that was there in '91 told me that the army stopped counting at 1.6 million, so no one will ever know the exact number.
On the guitar, our riff Lord and shredding savior, Kirk Hammett😂🎸🎸 God he's so precious and badass😂

I know, right? Boomers were like heavy metal is devils Music and Metallica was like here’s a song from the Bible. it would make a hell of a hymn 😂😂
I skip enter sandman and master of puppets reactions. Very over played songs. Cant listen anymore.

Metallica was only 10 here. 43 years later, they still bring it
The GOATS
Same concert…. Pantera. Domination!
Yeah! It went, Elvis, The Beatles, and now it is Metallica!!!!
This is the most epic shit ever.

That’s 🥜!!!
This song is out of the Bible!!
GOAT
But soon you need to go back to the beginning!! Metallica, "KILL 'EM ALL!!! Their first album and their hardest!!
The Russian military was the security. That speaks volumes. Watch Enter Sandman from this same concert. You can see the helicopters too.
🤘👍👍🤘ed
somewhere around 1.7 million there. 52 people died. No concert will EVER be what this was. Theres literally a military there. lol
Good Stuff👍
More Metallica!! Let me be your guide!! Know one else wants to listen to me!! Metallica, "Stone Cold Crazy" nobody has played this one yet!! 😅
I’ll definitely check it out 🤞🏻
Also so what is a nice ballad from metallica.
You should check out the song Death by Babymetal its a tribute of sorts to this song. Awesome
Your next one should be The Thing That Should Not Be live in Seattle 1989
fade to black next!
I have seen many great bands, while Metallica is not my favorite band, they, by far, are the greatest live.
🥶🥶🥶
Thanks for the love and support!

You will never understand if all you listen to is that shit they call rap nowadays. metal, rock, and rap were way better in the beginning than now.
You are absolutely right ! Things will never be the same, I honestly tap in and listen to a little bit of everything
Boomers: Heavy metal is devil’s music!
Metallica: Heres a song about a Bible story😂

Metallica is better live than studio....not many artist can do that.
Yea, the Russian military ran security for thus
Your band may be cool, but it will never be cool enough to get 1.6 million Russians to chant "Die!!"
Never.
Yup!!!!
That’s absolutely nuts !!
The band was saying die, but since the russian word for yes is dah, Im thinking that's what they were saying.. jmo
@@suefantastic4584 same. Still cool AF
