They you for the tips Garrett! I'm a big fan of Phil and I've been playing a lot of his songs lately and sometimes leading them. When you posted this my fan boy senses tingled 😅
Yes, I've noticed that Phil concentrates mainly on those bass notes. Phil is not only a great singer but also an amazing guitarist just like his father, John Wickham. He really received such a great talent to glorify God. To be honest, I also learn how to play guitar like him. The way he strum really amazed.. Thanks Garrett
Hi Garret, thanks so much for the insight I’m also a huge fan of Phil wickham' because he tunes his guitar a step down or half a step he also plays in DADGAD which makes it easier to play his songs in D
Hey Nathan - for rhythm acoustic which is what I play probably 90% of the time, I use a .46 or .50 pick. If I am playing songs that require more picking of individual strings and percussive stuff, I'll definitely go a little thicker but not a ton. Most people equate thicker picks as 'better' or 'more advanced'. I really don't see it that way at all. Different sized picks just have different uses. I usually have a couple different sized picks on that little pick holder I have up on the head stock :)

Awesome brother!! So glad you found it helpful :)
You forgot to mention he plays in a half step down tuning, I've learned everything from him over the past 13 years
👊👊
Brother. He did mention it in the beginning.
Also also, could you make a video of how to do the Fill strums Phil Wickham does? Like on this is amazing Grace before the chorus
Do you have a video of this? I'm not entirely sure I know what you're referencing. There's so many versions of that song!!! :)

I know they aren’t as famous as Phil but it would be a helpful video if you have some tips!
Yeah dude absolutely! Shane Barnard is one of the best acoustic CCM players. He and Phil stand atop the list!
