    Sir some clarity on syllables while playing on left and right can be shown by turning the instrument to understand better way. Nice explanation.

      Namaste.. Actually there is no specific exercise.. You just have to keep practising na ka tha dhim tha dhi mi from slow to gradually higher speeds.

      You can try with metronome.. Start from 60bpm and try to reach 160bpm

    Is Gumki hard to learn? I played mridangam for 10 years but quit when I began college. I’m starting it back up now, but I’ve never learned the Gumki and I’m worried it may hinder my learning.

      learning gumki is most important. it takes a few months to get the basic gumki with good sound. once you get the basic good tone you can improve on it in time
