MotoGP adopted this, and from the first race weekend it seems to be a success. Part of this is the ability for riders to race more closely in this particular series. The nature of current modern MotoGP bikes with their advance electronic and so much performance, it seem the extra aggression required for sprint is causing a higher rate of riders injury. At this rate I don't know how many riders will be fully fit for riding later in the season. In term of F1 it is safer to be in the car, so that isn't a problem, but there is the extra repair and parts required and the limit of the cost cap, this would influence how the drivers and teams approach the sprints. There are less "real" overtaking in F1, so by that nature they have to rely more on DRS, adding extra DRS zones. This is even more needed for short sprints. Yes I believe the sprints will increase viewers and interest, but I don't think it will improve the actual racing. For that they have to make drastic change to the cars regulation which simply isn't possible due to the modern commercial interest and imagery they wants to show. Been watching F1 since the early 2000s, used to be religious, now I only watch qualy and race, and most of the time I'm browsing or play a game the other half side of the my screen. There is no real excitement in watching replays of DRS overtakes. The Croft and Brundle pairing is another reason why I'm less engaged.
Mate, not even one minute in and you just called everyone who isnt watching the FP sessions a casual fan. Ik, you didnt say that specifically, but your statement implied that. Nobody with a life has time for that unless your job involves watching these sessions.
I didn’t imply that, nothing wrong if you don’t watch all practice sessions but those changes are for people that aren’t that interested in practice I work full time and have time to watch all practice sessions if I want, along with other hobbies and interests
