- It´s hard to believe that its been over thirty years since this gifted brother y sister duo, with thir irresistible smiles, first stepped into our living rooms... the youngest to host their own show in the history of television. Every friday night for one hour, Donny & Marie would sing and dance their way into the hearts of millions of families all over the world, becoming one of the most-watched television programs of its time.

hey im only 13 and i love them. my room is painted purple and chocolate brown for their fav colors and i have a donny wall with pics and articles about him on one side......then a marie wall with pics and articles of her on the other side!!!!!!!!!
This is the very first clip of the Donny and Marie show that I watched, and it is still my favorite. Love them!
Seeing these clips really takes me back. God I am old.
How do they make that look so real and spontaneous? Are they just such great actors? It looks as if Donny really doesn't know he is eating BUGS! And there laughter is so contagious.......Just love it. Have watched this one over and over and laugh till I cry evey time!

Wow-we-wow-wow! They were both beautiful and gorgeous (and still are today). Thank you so much for uploading these everlasting episodes of Donny & Marie. I thought I'd never see them again (watched every episode except in 1976 when the show first aired and I didn't have ABC that year - lol.)

After re-watching this clip a cple of dozen times IT really does seem as though he was in complete surprise. Maybe they didn't tell him b4 hand...!! It doesn't really matter he is just so damn GORGEOUS!!!!!

Dont 4get they grew up preforming..so perfection meant alot to them. Not to appear to fixated on his mouth he actually puts FIVE chocolates into his mouth and still manages to talk & sing audiably. I LOVE this clip. Makes me laugh everytime and he is absolutly gorgeous here.......but then again, when wasn't he? sigh....

I love this skit, especially when Marie tells Donny what the French means on the box. Ants and grasshoppers aren’t what Donny was expecting.
They just seem like a couple of really nice people.
What is amazing about their laugh appearing so real is that they interact with one another and give off the same vibes in 1998 on the donny and marie show (love the new title don't ya) it is nothing like the older one on screen now but shows a loving a maturing relationship between a brother and a sister caring for each other, nurturing each other, and enjoying one another's company.
Thanks for sharing this one Gail - haven't seen it for ages. I love them trying to sing 'I'm a Little Bit Country', those two are so funny when they get giggling together and can't stop! We need more D&M shows on DVD, don't we?!

A very entertaining and endearing show. Probably the last successful "variety show" that ever aired. Then came the 80s and soulless bigness took over and all charm was lost.
In those days, the most daring show on TV was Three's Company. Good God, what's happened to us?

omg! donny ate bugs! he should go on i'm a celebrity, just like jimmy did! but his face was a picture when marie told him what the chocolates were! love ya donny!
Surprising he is eating chocolates or anything sweet considering how perfect their teeth were. Regardless of that I just loved their show & was always interested in Marie's outfits. They still look great today especially Donny. All that clean wholesome living worked in the end & he looks remarkedly well & youthful.

I love how they can't get thru their classic "Goodnight everybody" always loved Marie's laugh. I hope she can laugh again one day. Right now I just want to offer her and her Family and the rest of the Osmond family my condolences on the tragic loss of Marie's son.

I was in grade school/high school when this show was on. I'm 2 years younger than Marie she was a doll then. Still is, although I didn't care much for her "short-haired look".
I watch these old D&M videos and am at a loss to decifer how much of the banter was planned and how much was ad lib.
Donny was almost certainly surprised by some of Marie's come-backs, but they must have planned SOME of it.

the most immature of the two gets the most attention--oh right it is and I can think of one celebrity that when I think about it has a age difference of 6 years with Donny it is amazing how immature that celebrity is because of the fact that in 6 years time he will be donny's age and yet he continues to by far get the attention on his name regardless of how he conducts himself.
I went to look back at what I said and I guess what I meant by your comment was that it gave you a top spot for blowing off fran. Listening to this guy talk on his show about how the best advice most of his publicists had was for him to get involved in a whole lot of trouble and he would get more attention on his name--i mean now a days it isn't like the celebrity that acts

It looks painfully scripted to me. Yes they're great actors. Donny doesn't know he's eating bugs because he's not eating bugs. Gosh you're gullible. The whole thing is scripted word for word from start to finish, they're just normal chocolates that he eats, and it's just a joke.
