Hey, Leo, Thanks for the review. Excellent as always. I received mine gx-10, and I noted that the two plastic parts that protect the power button is a little loose in my unit, I can shake it a little with my fingers is it the same in yours?
I currently use a Boss GX-100 (pretty similar to the GX10 just more buttons) for studio, rehearsal and recordings. It actually has the full body sound and feel of an actual amplifier. You must tweak the cabinets to your liking. I suggest finding a guitar tone you like and match it through an eq analyzer. I do mine by ear but may be easier for others through EQ analysis . I own an FM9, Amerpro stage 2, Headrush pedalboard and the MX5, POD GO, Valeton GP200 and the Amperium Live. The Amperium Live is neck and neck with the Boss, but the amount of custom switches for Boss unit is far superior. Much more advanced (though a little more involved) than line 6 scenes. And yes the Fractal FM9 is great (although the boss tone from this unit is just as good) but I can't stand the User interface when preforming live, it's far too much in that situation and it has a much larger foot print on stage. And outside of pedals for my Amplifiers I have never used or considered a Boss multi/amp pedalboard till now and IMO it's now #1 for me.
@@adrienb7223 I like both, they both sound great. However the feel of the boss gx is better to me and the effects are more rich. Footswitching on the boss is far superior, no clicks, pops or gaps...it's smooth. The Ampere stage is easier to program foot switch wise if that's a thing for you. Also the boss tuner in the GX is probably the best Ive ever experienced visually . The only bummer is it only tunes down to 435hz I prefer 432hz. Maybe it's something Boss could update? Hope this helps.

Hi, Leo! I always love your demo! How do you compare the sound of this GX-10 with Helix? I have Helix LT, so far I'm very pleased with all features on it, the only problem with is its huge size which is starting to bother me. I was thinking to replace it with something smaller and come with the idea of buying this GX-10. Is it worth to "downgrade" from Helix LT to GX-10? Thanks in advance, sir!

Here I have done a direct comparison Helix LT vs BOSS GT 1000: ruclips.net/video/dIdf4ms2kxg/видео.html I think you can check out that video for an idea of the sound differences. Furthermore there are other videos in the channel comparing the Helix and BOSS to real amps. I think you can get very good results with both units...tipically Helix has much more amps, vs BOSS that has less choice, where in terms of effects I'm more incline to BOSS as I'm more used to those sounds...but that's just a matter of personal taste. Ciao, Leo! 🤘😃 As always, Boss has outstanding performance. By the way, what's your opinion about the Marshall Code series? Another question, do you think they're releasing any updates to the series soon? Grazie mille!
Ciao George! I have never tried the Code, therefore I can't tell from direct experience...and unfortunately I don't have info about new Code units....There are some talks about a Marshall modeller...but don't have direct information. Thank you!
Dear Leo, first of all i like your intro song a blend of crunchy and lead tones, fantastic bends, attack examples plaid with your fingers and very relaxing pleasant clean tones..the fantastic sound of your Gibson Electro Spanish ( and your fingering) ..great job! ...äaaand your assessment and two cents are spot on ...i miss the aux to, use the ODs from Boss and love it and the described bandwidth X crunch or x modd others "from clean to mean " by volume and pick attack is brilliant. Also Boss added a couple of amps and other things recently.. As a user of various modeller we often come back to the question which speaker combination should we play and how to properly eq it in the global EQ or Pre Amp or PEQ or GEQ in the chain? which one should be given priority or be kept flat etc.. Would be a set of studio monitors and a FrFr Cabinet be the right choice to play at home, studio? Often a modeller does not utilize its full potential as perfect as home as if you would use it on stage with ( example) a set of RCFs (10") a Soundcraft and a Powercab ...( we compared a helix and then tried to resemble that tone with an GX 100 ..and it worked.. back in the studio both sounded not mid focussed anymore and an artificial treble occurance we could not ( yet ) dial out.. You have given us all info about modellers and now we try to find the best output tools for various scenarion, best if we can use same settings and just adjust the global eq etc.. Cheers and many thanks from here
Thank you so much, I'm really happy that you appreciate the song and the playing! As regards using at home...I use my monitors and I love them. I mean, at home, if you have a good pair of studio monitor (in my opinion) there is no. need of extra speakers. Live, I would go straight into the mixing desk and then I would use the global eq just to adapt the tone to the room... Thank you!
Great video as always Leo. I've still to see a true comparison chart of the GX10 vs the GX100. Is it really just the size and fewer footswitches or are there other differences?
Thank you so much , I'm happy that you like the video! I don't have done an in depth analysis...but as far as I know the main differences are size, weight, number of foot swicthes, the midi ports and an amp out controller.
Nice song Leo! I'm kinda interested in this unit, but also looking at the nux mg30, because I do like having a drum machine. I's a hard choice. I really like the boss amps and overdrives.
Thank you, I'm happy that you like the song! Yes, it's an hard choice, I have done a comparison GX 10 vs MG 30 vs Valeton vs matribox that you may want to check out. Thanks!
Considering your methodology approach to gear I would really be interested in our favorite gear used in signal chains and on desk in different scenarios outside of reviews.
Great video, thank you. It looks like I should be able to easily bypass the amp models and just use the effects with that interface. I'm not real up to date on multi effects pedals. I've been considering buying this particular pedal after researching other multi effects pedals in the same price range. I'm planning on running it through the front of my Fender Hot Rod DeVille 212 using the clean channel for now. I'm not sure if I want to run it through the fx loop.
@Leo - Very nice review as always! I would think that low latency would really help making any unit feel authentic. I also see that the GX-100 is now discounted to $499 which is only $100 more than the GX-10 - any thoughts on comparing these two? Thanks!
Thank you so much, I'm really happy that you appreciate the video! Well, if you plan to use the unit live, I would definitely go with the GX 100, at least only for the more footswitches... for just practicing at home or recording...the GX 10 is more than enough Thank you! .
Better more than less. I got the GX100 and is so useful. Sadly for me I think they need to upload more amp sim of other brands, not only the X types that belongs to Boss. Apart of that its a must, some IRS will help you to get more tones
I like that the GX-10 is quite small for portability. Wondering if the HX Stomp / HX Stomp XL or the Headrush Flex Prime might also be choices for someone who doesn’t yet have any modern all in one multieffects unit.
@ Thank you for honest thoughts. I think Boss units like the GX are underappreciated and a great value, though also see your point on range of amp and IR options.
ive got the full size and have been using it exclusively 4-7 times a week depending on schedule, and its been pretty rock solid, maybe froze once, but since then there's been 1 or 2 firmware updates. Considering this as a backup or potential "make my rig smaller" in the future... I combine my current rig with a tonex drive which could stay or go, i'm open to either. :) Dig your vids man!
I just want to mention to perspective buyers that the manual that comes with the GX-10 doesn't cover a lot of ground. But there are several manuals (PDF) on-line that you might spend some time with before you get the unit. They are pretty intense but answer a lot of questions that I didn't even know had.
What about Boss GX-10 vs HeadRush Flex Prime? Just want to hear which is the best sound quality of those devices. Hopefully you can make a comparison video 😊 Thanks in advance, Leo
You are welcome! As regards the Headrush...I'm not a fan of those units...if Headrush will send a unit I will be happy to try them out and change my mind...but I don't think they will. Thank you!
Beautiful solo, Leo; keep them coming! I really like my GX-10 into my Headrush FRFR GO; it is the best sound yet from all my years of modelling. And I strongly agree about the overdrives; it is the first time the modeller OD's are competitive with my OD-200. I think maybe even better than by GT-1000Core (which I just sold on Reverb, so can't really test it again...) For nylon string Flamenco I cut the bass with a graphic EQ for a more even sound, because the bass strings have more energy than the trebles. (i.e., if it sounds bass-y it may be the guitar... in my use case :) Have you done a video on the OD-200?
Thank you so much, I'm really happy that you apreciate the solo Yes, I have done a review of the OD 200 and there is a comparison with a real Klon and a bluouse driver....it's a pretty old video... Thank you also for sharing your experience!
Thank you. Question - Do you record wit the Boss GX-10 as the audio interface? or are you connecting it to an audio interface? The idea that this gives you 4 channels with 2 (stereo) with effects and 2(stereo) DI channels, makes this a better solution than most audio interfaces for guitar recordings. Am I missing anything?
@@LeoGibsonGtr Thanks. So why not record directly from the Gx-10 as the audio interface? Is your audio interface giving you anything extra (effects/compression/etc) by using it?
Hi, typically these units are used in live gig, for practicing, etc. In these scenarios we are gonna use the physical output of the unit, and that's what I would like you to hear. Other than that, there are no issues that I see in using the GX via USB...of course, I have an audio interface and my monitors are connected to my audio interface, therefore if I use the GX via USB, I would have to synchronise the clock of the GX to the clock of my audio interface...nothing particularly complicated....but just something more to do. Thanks!
You are welcome and I'm happy that you appreciate the review! As regards the Headrush...I'm not a fan of those units...if Headrush will send a unit I will be happy to try them out and change my mind...but I don't think they will. Thank you!
Leo!! Please, if you get your hands over a Headrush Flex Prime, mention the looper! i need to now if i can save different loops but I can't find info that confirms this for sure. Also, in the next couple of months Tree fall audio is going to release the Pi stomp v3 with raspberry pi 5! it is powered with the mod audio desktop but many times more powerful and customizable than the mod dwarf.
Thank you for sharing and thank you for the info about the Tree fall! As regards the Headrush...I'm not a fan of those units...if Headrush will send a unit I will be happy to try them out and change my mind...but I don't think they will. Thank you!
Hi, great demo! Any suggestions how should I use the Boss GX-10 with the Boss Katana (MkII 100) Power Amp In? Speaker emulation is off, and the output is set to Katana-100 Return, but it still sounds a bit unpleasant.
Hello Leo, thank you for the videos. I have the GX100. Do you always keep the speaker type original? I'm new to IRs, trying to dial in good metal tones. When trying to chug with palm muting I get farting out the speaker. I have tried using EQ and a compressor without much success. I'll try moving the mic, do you have any suggestions?:Thank you!
Hi, you are welcome! I typically use my IRs, but here, in this video, I felt the tone was good even with the original GX 10 cab simulations. I'm not sure where is the problem...what "real" speakers are you using? Maybe , you can try using headphones, to check out if the problem is in the speakers or in the modeller. Thanks!
@LeoGibsonGtr using a variety of speakers and cabs. Mostly Engl, Mesa, EVH, and Hesu with SM57, R121, MD421 mix. I'll let you know when I have achieved a good tone.
@@LeoGibsonGtr I've loaded your IRs and they are working and sounding great. Thank you for the great products and support. Wondering how I can switch between presents on the same page in manual mode? Like 3-1 to 3-2. Is this possible?
Many people prefer the traditional midi whereas Boss is the one of the companies decided to take advantage of Type C port for midi purposes. I am trying to find a way to use Tone X with boss gx10 using type c to program midi.
Is it possible to use exactly the same effect, e.g. graphic EQ or whatever else multiple times while editing signal chain and put it in a various places within using different setting of that effect?
In terms of tone they are basically equal....with the GT 1000 you can create even complex signal chains and you have more foot switches and I/O....of course the GX 10 is more user friendly...it really depends from your needs... Thank you!
I love boss stuff. I love my ME-90 and I've been using their pedals since the 90s. However, I find the interface on the GX-100 and, by extension, the GX-10 to be really confusing and hard to use. This one just isn't for me. They need to figure out a much between WYSIWYG inference with a skeuomorphic design. Fender nailed it on their very first outing.
Would this sound good straight to a PA speaker. I was disappointed in the NUX MG30 straight into a powered speaker. Using a GSC CP12. I wanted amazing clean a tone and overdrive tone.
Hi, I don't have done an in depth analysis...but as far as I know the main differences are size, weight, number of foot-switches, the midi ports and an amp out controller. Thanks
@LeoGibsonGtr Thanks for the response. Could you please check is 96 khz become available in gx-100. May be it received such update. To me 96 it's very important to make a choice. It's strange that spec for gx-10 says 48 khz but in reality there is 96 khz exists.
@@LeoGibsonGtr that’s good. Our band does songs in 440 and in drop tuned. It would be really nice to just program that into a patch and be done with it and then just switch patches.
A good price! 👍 I like the drum machine of Amperos, and looper capacity is better than that of GX-10. It really makes a difference. But the thing which makes difference is those stereo inputs and effect loops of Ampero II as well. Unfortunately latency of Amperos is not at the same level of Boss but the UI is quite good.
@jutukka true, the Boss has stellar latency specs. According to Leo, the Ampero Ii latency is in line with Fractal and Kemper I'm a Roland/Boss fanboycsince the '80s. Unfortunately, they keep missing it compared to Ampero ii regarding routing and balanced out. I just got the Ampero ii, I may hate it. We shall see. I'll be at NAMM 2025 to see if other manufacturers meet the Ampero ii feature set.
OK. So I got the Gx-10 :) After few days of jamming, here are the conclusions: 1. Realy good sound (much better/natural than Mooer and Ampero). 2. On FX I have devided thoughts: The OD and DS are pretty standart Boss drives (as good as classic). The Revrb / Dleays are cool. The octaver is terrible - It performes worst than original Booss OC-3/OC-5 pedals and even worst than Mooer GE. The BOSS`s Compressors here is still mistery for me - the sound is too sharp and compressed, ...will take time to tweak more on them. 3.There are lot of superb features: poly tuner. Output selection (That adapts to amp, combo, cab, or tube amp - really good feature if to play live through different amps or different equipment). Tons of control switsh assighnment options (not as easy to set up, the MOOER where more ientuitive to set up). The nice PC soft for tone editor, and tone lib from Boss comunity. 4. Looper is a shame: ( Leo mentioned that in video) The playability is very complicated, need to put he loop in the signal chain, the assignment of CNTRL knobs are limited. No drum... (Of all built-in lopers I`ve used, I could say the Zoom G2Four / G5 / G6 had the best options on operating, ease of use, feaures. ). 5. User interface and easeof use of Boss gx-10 is OK. (in comparison - Mooer has more intuitive, but Zoom sometimes was something strange in UI). The screen and Boss UI looks bit outdated, but works well. 6. Last concern is the ONLY 3 CONTOLS footswitches. (I had hard decison between Gx-100 nad GX-10, but decided smaller form factor). Operationg on 3 switches are limited. At home its ok, but at live gig it seems little confusing. But probalby by the time I`ll find the right way to navigate...
Buona musica Leo!
Ciao e grazie mille per aver condiviso i tuoi punti di debolezza ed i punti di forza! Forse il controller midi morning star dovrebbe funzionare...devo provare... Grazie ancora!
Until now, BOSS is King of Kings latency of all guitar multi-effect producers. Thanks for the review, Leo!

Was waitin for this review 😅😅
I hope you have enjoyed!
Thank you!
Thank you for your suggestion!
Thank you so much, I'm happy that you appreciate the video!
Thank you also for sharing your findings and the way you would use the unit!
Thank you fore review! Would love to see comparison to any of Hotone Ampero 2 models.
You are welcome and thank you for your suggestion!
Well, if you plan to use the unit live, I would definitely go with the GX 100, at least only for the more footswitches... for just practicing at home or recording...the GX 10 is more than enough
Thank you!
@@TechnoRiff no idea.
Thank you for sharing your experience and I'm really happy that you appreciate the videos!!!
Thanks Leo!
You are welcome!!!
I just want to mention to perspective buyers that the manual that comes with the GX-10 doesn't cover a lot of ground. But there are several manuals (PDF) on-line that you might spend some time with before you get the unit. They are pretty intense but answer a lot of questions that I didn't even know had.
Thank you for sharing!
What about Boss GX-10 vs HeadRush Flex Prime? Just want to hear which is the best sound quality of those devices.
Hopefully you can make a comparison video 😊
Thanks in advance, Leo
You are welcome!
As regards the Headrush...I'm not a fan of those units...if Headrush will send a unit I will be happy to try them out and change my mind...but I don't think they will.
Thank you!
Hi, thanks for the great review. Can the GX-10 be connected using the 4-cable method? I'd like to use it with a tube amp as a pedalboard.
Hi, you are welcome!
I think it can, as it has an fx loop to be used as send return with your amp.
Beautiful solo, Leo; keep them coming!
I really like my GX-10 into my Headrush FRFR GO; it is the best sound yet from all my years of modelling. And I strongly agree about the overdrives; it is the first time the modeller OD's are competitive with my OD-200. I think maybe even better than by GT-1000Core (which I just sold on Reverb, so can't really test it again...)
For nylon string Flamenco I cut the bass with a graphic EQ for a more even sound, because the bass strings have more energy than the trebles. (i.e., if it sounds bass-y it may be the guitar... in my use case :)
Have you done a video on the OD-200?
Thank you so much, I'm really happy that you apreciate the solo
Yes, I have done a review of the OD 200 and there is a comparison with a real Klon and a bluouse driver....it's a pretty old video...
You are welcome!
I have connected the GX 10 to my audio interface using the analog out of the GX 10.
No, I don't think you are missing something.
Thanks!
Hi Leo! Thanks for another great review! Are you planning on taking a look at the new Headrush Flex Prime any time soon?
You are welcome and I'm happy that you appreciate the review!

Hey Leo can you do comparison video between boss gx10 vs line 6 hx stom plz
Hi, I will think about it, thank you for your suggestion!
Hi, great demo! Any suggestions how should I use the Boss GX-10 with the Boss Katana (MkII 100) Power Amp In? Speaker emulation is off, and the output is set to Katana-100 Return, but it still sounds a bit unpleasant.
Yeah, I have the same problem. Maybe trying some EQ?
No desconectes el gabinete ni los altavoces.
Interesting point!
tks for sharing !
You are welcome!
Boss really has great drum n loop units, It would be great if they add this feature.
Than you for sharing!
Is it possible to use exactly the same effect, e.g. graphic EQ or whatever else multiple times while editing signal chain and put it in a various places within using different setting of that effect?
Hi, you can use many instances of the same effect block, if you want.
Thanks!
@ many thanks for confirmation!
You are welcome!
So my question is:
Would it make any sense at all to switch from my GT-1000 to either one of the GX?
In terms of tone they are basically equal....with the GT 1000 you can create even complex signal chains and you have more foot switches and I/O....of course the GX 10 is more user friendly...it really depends from your needs...
Thank you!
whats the apps you used on your cp for fx editing?
The BOSS original one that you can download from the BOSS web site.
Hi, thank you for sharing your experience and your findings!
Would this sound good straight to a PA speaker. I was disappointed in the NUX MG30 straight into a powered speaker. Using a GSC CP12. I wanted amazing clean a tone and overdrive tone.
If you use an FRFR you should not have any problem (obviously keeping the cab sim in the modeller activated).
Thank you!
Hi. What is the difference between gx-10 and gx-100? Did gx-100 also get 96 khz sampling rate. It was 48 before.
Can you program drop tuned patches on this unit?
Hi, you can associate different settings of the Pitch Shift for each patch....therefore yes you can
@@LeoGibsonGtr that’s good. Our band does songs in 440 and in drop tuned. It would be really nice to just program that into a patch and be done with it and then just switch patches.
How's the drip tune? Van I drop my guitar -1 and feel natural?
I'm making a video for your about this topic! Stay tuned!

i just grabbed the Ampero II Stage for $559.99 (black friday deal) - better overall solution
Where such price? 😮
Thank you for sharing!
A good price! 👍
I like the drum machine of Amperos, and looper capacity is better than that of GX-10. It really makes a difference. But the thing which makes difference is those stereo inputs and effect loops of Ampero II as well. Unfortunately latency of Amperos is not at the same level of Boss but the UI is quite good.
@@raiviste4187 Amazon Prime Black Friday
@jutukka true, the Boss has stellar latency specs.
According to Leo, the Ampero Ii latency is in line with Fractal and Kemper
I'm a Roland/Boss fanboycsince the '80s.
Unfortunately, they keep missing it compared to Ampero ii regarding routing and balanced out.
I just got the Ampero ii, I may hate it.
We shall see.
I'll be at NAMM 2025 to see if other manufacturers meet the Ampero ii feature set.
OK. So I got the Gx-10 :) After few days of jamming, here are the conclusions:
Hi, thank you so much for sharing your experience!
Interesting points!

The boss web site lists 99 presets and 198 user slots, is this wrong?, ty =)
To play live boss or matribox 2 pro??
it says '' 198 memories''
99 Preset + 99 User preset : Total 198.
As far as I understood we have 99 + 99 presets...
Thanks
Gx10 + Tonex one
Good couple!
It seems criminal that boss isn't advertising their latency superiority when the tones of everything are already so close in quality.
Yes, they never mention the latency in their user manual...
The unforgivable deal-breaker for me are the unbalanced outs… I mean, come on Boss… unbalanced outs in a unit meant to go direct in the PA?! Why?!
Thank you for sharing!
Of course you can add XLR out...but with an extra cost.
Buona musica Leo!
