I will check my very late (built Aug. 24 or so n 55) deck lid for those brackets you mention. I don't think it makes contact, so I bet they are there. I remember seeing posts about this, but when I replaced on the trunk rubber, I really didn't think to look. Mine was a very late car.

Man Thomas, you do have a late 55. The best part is by the time your car was built, the assembly line crews were really educated because of how many they did before yours

Hi there have a mechanical question for you I have A 265 1955 Chevy Bel-Air it stumbles at stop signs on acceleration sometimes and stalls out seems to idle and start good i don't know where to start

Several things it could be. I'd check fuel system first. Old gas can cause this. Could be strainer in tank clogged (unless all new), weak fuel pump, sticking float in carb, wrong gap on points, etc.

Deck lid original to your car? Some guys could have 56 or 57 deck lids on their 55. Thanks for watching Dean. LONG LIVE 55 CHEVYS

Dude we know you have back problems and such but I cringe when I see you hunched over working on the ground . Please take care of yourself and maybe some knee pads or a pad to protect your knees.
    Keep up the good work.

My rubber mats I have melt when the sparks hit them. The knee pads cut circulation. It keeps me flexible. Lol
