    13:56: He plays a Black Vise which you don‘t notice. Taking no damage from it in the next couple of rounds.

    • @RaVNeFLoK
      @RaVNeFLoK  2 года назад +1

      I think I do notice. I take one damage after vise is played (I had 5 cards in hand). I just move the dice for 3 damage total at the same time as I take the 2 damage from the attacking factory - that’s because odd passes the turn immediately after his attack.
      After that initial damage I draw and play mox and then swords on my own factory in odds turn - putting me below 5 cards for the rest of the match.

    • @HarmonicSliver
      @HarmonicSliver 2 года назад +1

      That might be correct, but commenting „here he comes for 3“ confuses a lot. You can do better than that. ;-) By the way. Your comments are way better than his. :-) Keep up the good work.

      @@HarmonicSliver Lol yes I must have missed the damage from the black vise when I commented on the game and thought the factory did the 3 damage. Which means I remembered the black vise in the game but commented the segment wrongly - no wonder that part was confusing! :D

    12:25, I can‘t play anything: Do you remember my comment about Fellwar Stone instead of Mox Ruby and Mox Emerald? ;-) It is a turn 2 drop and you play with Sinkhole, Hypnotic Specter, Juzam Djinn and even Underworld Dream’s. After sideboarding it supports BEB, REB and Divine Offering etc. What does a Mox Ruby do in comparison except some speed in rare cases?

    • @RaVNeFLoK
      @RaVNeFLoK  2 года назад

      I remember - yeah it could be really nice with so many colors - though i really like the moxen for fast juzams and specters as well - its true the stone would mana fix more. Id give it a spin instead of the emerald perhaps?

    • @HarmonicSliver
      @HarmonicSliver 2 года назад +1

      Why no dark rituals then? The Mox Ruby does not do much after you played a fast Juzam. Thoughts? How often does that happen?

    • @RaVNeFLoK
      @RaVNeFLoK  2 года назад

      @@HarmonicSliver Well the ruby provide rebs after sb and access to early bolts in some com-a variants. It also provides power plays with ancestral, time walk and geyser. Its good after a draw-7 to continue the turn.
      And its a numbers game right? Sometimes comp-a gets in early mana trouble and cant move fast enough because of it - like we saw in round 1 here - it happens but so far its reasonably rare. More often it gets into a position with a lot of mana permanents for different colors and then the threats and card replenishment can start going.
      Yeah I do realize Dark rituals are used in sibling types of builds like deadguy ale, mono-black and grixies mid-range. And rituals does provide access to some incredibly powerful openings every once in a blue moon - but i gave up on rituals. In my experience comp-a beats many "sibling" brews more often than it looses to them. I think it might be because comp-a's mana is based on permanents - and its card advantage is also slightly better.
      Ive faced grixies and deadguy ale with comp-a, and i dont think ive ever lost a best of 3 against those archetypes. Its often very close and entertaining matches but comp-a just seems to eventually come up on top the longer the game takes. Now why that is - Im not sure. Your guess is as good as mine.
      But I think comp-a is perhaps more efficient than those other brews because it goes for permanents as mana ramp and more color splashes over the one-off rituals.

      I very much agree.
      Lately in my robot deck I’ve considered bottle main deck instead because after sb I don’t know if the opponent takes out his Arabian nights cards. But that’s just a detail. Bottle is a great card either in main or sb.

    • @RaVNeFLoK
      @RaVNeFLoK  2 года назад +1

      There is no mana burn in the Swedish rules. Now personally I think that’s a shame, because mana burn is part of old school Magic’s experience in my opinion - but thems the rules :)

      @@RaVNeFLoK That makes a lot sense then, haha! I think the other instance was Mono Black vs The Deck, so probably wouldn't have mattered much in either case which is kind of interesting. I imagine that makes Mirror Universe a lot worse under Swedish rules?

    19:05: Big mistake to play the Gloom with the Lotus. He already has the Abyss in Hand. The Gloom does almost nothing at this point preventing Swords and Disenchants against WHAT? That sloppy play costs 10 life.

    • @RaVNeFLoK
      @RaVNeFLoK  2 года назад

      Agreed. He should had kept both lotus and abyss in hand. I do get the the idea behind gloom+ vise turn 1 but a single Gloom is not usually something comp-a fears because the white splash is light and there’s plenty mana ramp usually to pay for the gloom “tax” on whatever cheap white spell is needed.

    • @RaVNeFLoK
      @RaVNeFLoK  2 года назад

      I do take damage when he attacks with his factory - I just say it wrong “he comes in for 3”. In reality he comes in for two and I immediately after the attack take a point of damage from black vise at upkeep bringing the total damage up to 3 which is when I flip the dice.
      Next turn I sword my own factory at his turn bringing me below the black vise threshold. :)
