- Avery Moore is resigning as Tacoma's police chief.
Moore submitted his resignation to City Manager Elizabeth Pauli on Tuesday. His resignation is effective Monday, Feb. 3, according to the city.
Tacoma operates under a city manager form of government, meaning Pauli will oversee the appointment of an interim chief before a permanent replacement is hired.
"I was a little surprised. I wasn't expecting his resignation, but it's a tough job. He's the one who gets to make the best decision for himself and his family," said Tacoma Mayor Victoria Woodards. "I wish him continued success and good luck."

What has happened to this State? Way past time for Great Leadership
It was time for that 40 years ago.....when people started supporting the Dumbocraps.
What does "personal use of city assets" mean exactly? 🧐💸💰
Could be anything from using the copy machine to using city vehicles / workers for personal gain.
This guy is a solid dude, and the city really needed. A solid police chief with a real résumé policing in this political climate is difficult. This man came from Dallas a far more dangerous place than TACOMA, but without all the politics.
We may need a new MAYOR as well
Tacoma is a shitty city, anyway, need all new leadership there.
@@richardstengline5743 I live in Tacoma and it’s great. I have no idea what you are talking about
@@DerekRL01 I agree, Tacoma is awesome. It's one of the best cities in the country, and I've been all over. Point Defiance, Ruston Way Thea Foss Waterway, it's hard to find better scenery.
@ living two minutes from point defiance for me rules so much I love it
@@DerekRL01 Lucky!
Didn’t Earn It.
Bye bye 👋
The sinew in law enforcement culture must be knotted up or something, an internal discussion the public at large has absolutely no say in. I, for one, am perfectly okay with that. They have a code of conduct that may draw parallels to criminal behavior, so what, they’re paid to think like criminals! What is not okay is to retaliate against the public and the interests of which is not what is happening and is being prevented is what it appears to be but I simply would not know. Trust is a two way street, and that is a cop out, so what!
He was wrong giving 500 thousand bucks to the cops who killed manny Ellis
Probably not enough money. It's always the money. LOL
Got Dam, these culls are total zeroes
