This “security guard” has been called out for two other incidents there andI imagine there are more. She should be fired.
If you watch one of the hour long red carpet videos, you can see the lady standing off to the side watching people pass by. She even left people alone, not harassing them, when they were just standing in her area chit chatting. I suggest you fast forward it because it's too long. This woman was harassing these ladies. Don't ever put your hands on someone. Smh ...because one day you will mess around and find out. She sure did find out by the right people. There were 2 categories of celebs :
- those allowed to pose on the stairs because they were sponsored by brands
- those who weren’t sponsored, therefore had to move, they just weren’t authorized to pose.
Having their photo taken on the stairs by photographs = a privilege to pay for. These celebs weren’t associated with brands that paid.
At the bottom of the stairs, everybody can have their moment and pose. From the moment you step on the stairs, unless you’re sponsored : you move and go straight to the building’s entrance
This drama is the jumping to conclusions Olympics holy shit. This security employee’s job was to stop celebs who weren’t sponsored to having their photo taken on the stairs. Celebs who threw a tantrum over being stopped showed entitlement ✌🏻

Yoona was very professional smiling all the time, showing her respects even though she was rushed to go up the stairs. That security guard was doing her job, but with lack of empathy or respect for these three ladies. You can do your job, but with different approach, like the other security guards did. Very sad situation. I hope this stop from happening in the future for the next Cannes festivals.

The guards were hired and instructed to do this, just like the photographers were hired at the Met Gala to take photos of the guests. This is all on the organizers to apologise....but they won't.

I don't know if the actors and idols have just some minutes on the carpet to pose for the press but still that dosen't mean that the gard start to shoo and put her arm out to showe the acter forwards that is bad behavior, they should more go to the actor/idol and say your time is up you need to continue so others can come on the red carpet. And that if someone has looooong dress with a picture there should be someone that has an eye on that ready to straight it out for pictures. Some schooling on how guards shall act and helpers to fix things so it would go smoothly and in the invitation it should be printed of how long time the posing on carpet is.

There is rule that they can't stop and take pictures at the stairs. There is a red carpet where the celebrities can pose. Maybe people need to see the whole context to see if they treat all the celebrities the same way. Nowadays, everyone likes to edit a few clips and claim certain thing.

The 'celebrities' were told (Cannes rules of attendance) not to stop on the stairs for pictures -unless their PR company had paid for the privilege. Clearly these people don't know how to abide by the rules, that's arrogance on their part. And pushing the security guard should have resulted in a charge for assault, she was just doing her job.

I think that guard was doing her job too, but after she's been pushed away few times and failed to understand that she is invading these people's personal space too much, she would be called off by her company. Which exposes them to danger though, and organiser of event to heavy financial damage lawsuits in millions and even billions . So organiser is probably very keen to have protection part covered. However, none of present are state chiefs so it does seem a bit excessive. Also, if you push bodyguard away, you take full responsibility for what might happen to you. If company made this clear to celebs that they can't sue if celebs push guard away (and something happens), then guard should back up a little

I stand with the guard. She was hired to do a job. Managing people is hard, but not once did she use violence and stayed as calm as she could while being disrespected. Cannes is a very strict red carpet and if you are not payed by a sponsor to get your picture taken, you have maybe 5 seconds to get up the stairs. IT IS NOT ABOUT RACE. Period.

she seems to do this to women in particular, not necessarily women of color, since a Ukrainian model was also treated poorly. If there is evidence of her doing this to male guests, I have not seen it. Regardless, I don't think it's appropriate to treat guests that way and it's very disheartening that the film festival allows it.

I love this hate train. The security guard may have overstepped her role and rushed Yoona, Kelly Rowland and some other guests, and really annoyed them, but the arm was there to protect them from falling backwards from the stairs. She did this with everyone, including "the white ladies". The gowns and the high heels can create big trouble for the guests. This is a standard procedure.
Don't hate the arm, hate the Festival, that allows only paid customers to pose freely. The others are rushed and corralled.

You do realize this guard was likely specifically hired to be a bit more assertive with women. If any male security guard were to try they would be open to sexual harassment charges. It’s necessary to move the crowd along because a lot of celebrities are desperate for media attention on the red carpet, but at Cannes a lot is reserved for the cast of the film being screened or of gowns that were sponsored specifically for the event, and others aren’t allowed to take photographs. It has nothing to do with racism.
