I think I left the theater after seeing this film positively GLOWING with what an incredible experience it was. It was absolutely PERFECT from beginning to end. The music, the direction, the cinematography, the acting, the story, the special effects, the credits. EVERYTHING was perfect and I've seen it over a dozen times since then... and I still smile like an idiot and shed a tear. Perfect.
On one's face of it, it's a weird arty feel good film but there's just something about this film that makes it so charming and quirky. You could say that it has a certain "Je ne sais quoi" 😉
I first watched this film when i was 15. I wasn’t able to appreciate it as much as i do now, it’s really fascinating how colours affect the human mind and how a well written character line can change the entire art into something intimate rather than distant glances that many films provide.
First of all it is so nice to hear Natalie's voice once again. I am glad she joined you on this review. I love this movie, it is easily one of my favorite films ever. I first saw it theaters when it came out and have seen it probably an additional 8-10 times after that. I agree with Natalie that I love it so much that I don't want to over watch it and possibly lose that feeling I have for it. I love this fil so much I have purchased it for friends and family on dvd for b-days or holidays, or just to get friends into foreign film. I believe I have bought a dozen copies by now, and I wish it could come out on Criterion. I love Audrey Tatou, and she is the perfect fit for this film, as well as the young actress who plays her younger self. There are few characters who I identify with so much. You guys are so correct with your evaluation, everything is great in this movie, the score, the cinematography, the directing and the acting I love this movie. Thanks so much for reviewing it and stay safe everyone. I cannot wait until next week.
Couldn't agree more, its always been a special film for us. I didn't even realise we were experiencing Andy D's first watch on this one! We should have had more fanfare - Andy H
I watched this when it came out on video. It's been forever since I've seen this last (I've watched it a few times), youtube doesn't have it for rent or sale, so I'm piecemealing it through these clips and reviews. I will own it.
I watched the movie when i was 6 years old. After that i watched it multiple times. So adductive. I was never liked other movies like this. Beautiful movie❤
This and "Transylvania Twist", have traded places as my favorite movies, from time to time. I watch this less now, because of the sadder elements. Her mom dying at the beginning. The times she gets yelled at, and she goes and cries in her room. I love the mystery love affair between her and Nino. Things like when she named her pet fish Fluffy, and her skipping stones, which Audrey wasn't able to do, and they had to CGI the skipping rock. The best part of the DVD is the outtakes oif her making faces as she begins a scene IO'm surprized you guys and gal, didn't mention the Musical, the story sadly is missing some of the great moments, but it has the great songs "Stay", and "Half Way There", the rest of the songs aren't as great, but I still enjoyed seeing clips of it. Last time I checked both versions of the original Musical were on RUclips, the Samantha Barks,, and Phillipa Soo versions. But some people think "This is not Amelie" ;) I think the Japanese spinning stage set was amazing. I got the soundtrack to the Musical, as well as the film's score. And I always hoped they'd make a part 2 with Nino and Amelie having a child and that little girl goes off and starts helping everyone in Paris,. and Nino and Amelie had to track down their child. I hope someday mayber you'll review the musical, and the film "Transylvania Twist", its sort of a mash-up of Monty Python, meets Mel Brooks type comedy, and even has a double intro, and mock advertisement before the main film begins, like Python's "The Meaning of Life", but I think TT does a better job mixing the sketches into the story.

Amelie is my all time favourite film, and the first film I saw as a work of art, as opposed to pure entertainment. Quite simply, it's perfect...
The moment I realised I had fallen in love with this films quirkiness
"No no mademoiselle, I don't work weekends"

anytime anyone on youtube says “i’ll link ____ in the description” they literally never do
@@CRiSiS_iNFiNiTE Don't worry, this time it actually happened! Andy linked it in the comments not the description. Enjoy!
This is one of my favorite movies, and I don't watch many movies. I always recommend this to people I meet , whenever the topic of movies comes up.
