Umm... akctually we don't know for sure if they hunted in packs, gangs or were solitary. But it is more likely they didn't hunt in wolf-like packs because young Deinonychus didn't eat the same things as the adults. That doesn't necessarily mean that Deinonychus weren't coordinated when hunting in groups though.

Actually, deinonychus was actually pretty smart, therefore, it would analyze its opponent (in this case the ankylosaurus) and determine where the weak points are, where the tougher spots are, and would also identify its opponent's weapons. Therefore, deinonychus would see how much armor the ankylosaurus has, and would also see that fighting it is a suicide mission. The overall result: A fight like this would never take place.

What if the deinonychus were to use terrain to their advantage instead of relying on strength? Perhaps a cliff or steep slope could work.

And for that to happen, deinonychus would still have to find the ankylosaurus in the right place and at the right time. Don't you think this fight is too ''forced''?
@@TheChickenossaurus To me the thing that makes the most sense would be the deinonychus following the ankylosaurus without being seen and waiting until it walks onto terrain that gives them an advantage before attacking, then taking advantage of the terrain to flip the ankylosaurus over. Of course if you think this would be too forced I can suggest something else but I do like the idea of this fight.
