I was growing up in a small village like that. At middle school, I had an American teacher from Main, and her name is Jen( Jenjira). She stayed in a house like that but it was not abandon condition. She was always drink Pepsi bc she was worry about drinking rain water. One night, my school had a party . My friend and I got to stay overnight in her room. That was the time that she showed us her home pictures in Main. I would never think that I will get to go to America. I feels so special to be with her in that one night. She was the queen of the ball party and she brought balloons in the room. We laid on the futon on the floor and she laid on her bed. The balloons were up on the ceiling. That was one of my best memory and you, Joe,remind me of that. Now I live happily in the US with my Thai -American family. I am lucky to get to go back to visit my Thailand family very often. I miss Thailand all the time. Life is amazing and wonderful but sometimes you have to stay very far from your Mother land. Thanks, Joe. PS: I know you from Kuhn Mark food video.

My grandma passed in March from covid and when I came across this video I started crying when you saw pa Mong and started tearing and I started to hear her say such loving things I started to cry myself. She reminds me of my grandma whom I extremely miss soo much. Glad you were able to see her after a long time

i always wanted visiting my first school and house in Thailand for more than 3 years. i have visited it for 2 times already since i left, now i am in my 8th year in thailand. The teachers and people around are still warm and very welcoming. i understand the feeling my friend, the feeling just cause goosebombs everywhere

My mom cried when she saw my first apartment. Trust me, they were not tears of joy 🤣. Like you, it was my first place all by myself. I was a new college grad with my first job. It was the first time in my life I was totally responsible for everything. My parents gave me a great foundation and it was time for my own journey. That was 36 years ago. There’s been so many life lessons learned over those years. Thanks for sharing your journey and your happiness and love for your own walk on this earth. So many times people in the States and a few Thais make fun of those who visit or move to Thailand to escape what ever they were running away from with little or no regards to this special country. It was the first time in my life I was totally responsible for everything. My parents gave me a great foundation and it was time for my own journey. That was 36 years ago. There’s been so many life lessons learned over those years. Thanks for sharing your journey and your happiness and love for your own walk on this earth. It’s weird, because when people in who come from such poverty. Can be humble, but our richness comes from God. As a kid who grew up in Ghana 🇬🇭, didn’t have as much as I had now! Thank the Lord we serve a God that’s perfect! Joel that was amazing to see your humble beginnings! The Lord had molded you for a world and time as this!

Thanks for sharing such a touching and inspiring experience- life is truely blessed if we choose to allow every experience to enrich us fully. I travel to Bangkok every month (or at least I used to before Covid) and can relate to how rich and amazing the experiences there can be. I am truly grateful for all of them.

I’ve watched Mark’s posts for a few years now and have enjoyed every single video that he posted including the ones where you traveled with him. Not once have I ever written a comment but after watching this video I’m truly touched by your raw emotion and felt the appreciation you had and still have for this place you called home for 3 years and especially those you have come to know over the years. So many times people in the States and a few Thais make fun of those who visit or move to Thailand to escape what ever they were running away from with little or no regards to this special country. You have shown the world how Thailand, this small town, the school, the aunty and the place you stayed can be a beautiful place if you are grateful and are respectful of what is given to you.
