I always recommend starting broad . . . for a couple of reasons. 1) You need cashflow and to get as many jobs as quickly as possible. 2) To figure out where you shine. The best way to figure that out is the allow the market to tell you. If you get more positive response for narration over commercials, maybe that's an area that you should begin to focus your marketing efforts in. I personally do commercials, narration, telephony, audiobooks, promos...but mostly narration.

    Hi Bill,
I'm a 10 year radio vet who went from a production studio to the military. I'm in the Navy now and luckily on shore duty for my remaining 3 years. Now that I am stateside for the remainder of my time, I have been solely concentrating on my production business. I just wanted to thank you for your videos. Your video series has answered nearly ALL of my questions and concerns. Even though I still have most of my contacts in the industry, your videos have motivated me to get back in.

It's Neumann TLM 103. In a few days I'll have a Blue "Mouse" microphone that I'll be trying out....should be fun! :-)
